    Chris, that's an awesome idea!

I never liked black coffee, until I stopped with the added sugar and cream for a while. It took probably a week or two, but now, like you said, I can't have it with stuff in it. They just make it so bad!

I LOVE reading about all our individual journeys ... No competion/comparison (just encouagement)! I adore us! Lol :) As for me, I'm attempting to offer myself the same grace & support I try to extend to others (easier said then done, on occasion). The old compulsive me would have turned my "joyous jaunt" into a mandatory 7 mile run :( Well, not today! My jaunt was a joy-filled 30 minute incline walk to 80's music. SO FUN! Yay! So today I've kicked compulsion in the 'tuchus' & am empowering myself to succeed, at last :) Blessings to you all & thanks for the cheers I've received along the way! ~DebSue

We have some similarities. My OCD and competitive self wanted to go what would have been another 2 miles. There was no need for that just yet. I just got started and there is no reason to be pushing myself too hard. In time Jen, in time. :) So I stuck with my planned walk and was happy about it. I'm not sure if I'm ready to use 'joyous' when it comes to the jaunt just yet though. :) You are definitely succeeding!

Encourage and motivation is all I see here in this group. I absolutely love it!

I agree ladies! I feel super supported here. Very grateful.

Jen & DebSue: not sure if I'm OCD but I'm very "all or nothing" and I'm not quite sure what balance looks like. I think I'll pass it as I try to transition out of my recent "nothing" phase on my way to ALL. At least I hope I transition out.
    Great day today at least!

Chris: your year in pictures sounds great!

TJ: nice going on the walkIng!

Kris: awesome Jaunt and NYC Ballet?? Love it! Rock on!

Happy Saturday Folks! Grocery Shopping today and putzing around the house doing chores. Get some cooking done for next weeks meals. Will have both Crock pots in overdrive today.

  • Good morning everybody. Day 1 of the FB challenge in the books. Amazingly, I did everything I was supposed to do. Actually slept decent last night (woke up once but when back to sleep pretty quick). Maybe things are starting to get back to normal.
No jaunting today - rain and I need the day off after two crazy days.

Off to get ready for the day.

I did my jaunt Jen! The perimeter of our mall gives us exactly 45 minutes of walking. It's in the low 40s this morning and rainy thunderstorms. We would normally just cancel but I have to rack up some miles for the Jaunt!!

DebSue: I love the quote by Dr. Seuss. Went ahead & stole that! Thx!!

We think we're going to organize a "Walking Wednesdays" at our elementary school to try to inspire some families to get a little more active. We did this last year and most Wednesdays Caroline and I were the only two walking. But we're just really fired up right now so we're going to give it another go. Wish us luck.

Great start to the year everyone! The walking Wednesday's sound great Carol.

Really grateful for Jennifer's January jaunt! I love walking, esp the hills of the neighborhood, but stop doing it once the weather gets cold and it's dark. This is forcing me out...will be tougher starting next week when I'm back at work (and even have my first biztravel of the year undecided if I'll be doing morning dark dog walks, lunch work walks or evening dark dog walks. Probably a combination of all.

Also glad Carol got me into the FB challenge. Really reinforces all the habits I worked so hard to build in 2014. Oh, this counts as the daily check in with someone in the challenge, right??

Good Luck Carol! I'm on our VA2K Committee this year. The VA2K is a nationwide effort to get folks moving, especially folks that may have movement challenges. like spinal cord injuries, amputees etc. Every VA Hospital does it in May on the same day (I think). Last year we totaled over 500K at our Hospital in 30 min or so. Goal this year will be 1000K moved during the walk. Our first committee meeting is coming up so Let you know more when I do. Might want to post this pic in a place that will target your participants. I post it in the rooms of my wheelchair adaptive athletes.

  • Carol, awesome job getting in the walking time this morning Day off for me as two straight days are definitely showing. Besides, it's raining and slippery in some places today. And I don't do well in slippery, as yep, I took myself a nice tumble this morning. Landed on my right hip (well, not directly on my hip, wink wink). So far, no bruising but I can guarantee I'll have a big one there later. So tomorrow I may be asking for sympathy on my jaunt, weather permitting. Hehehe....

Kim, YAY!!!! I'm so glad. Glad that Carol 'convinced' us to join the FB challenge as well. Anything else to help reinforce the good habits is fantastic. Oh and heck yeah our posts here count as teammate contact! :)

Off to go make some breakfast (or brunch I guess, since it's after 10:00).

Okay, cool. I just had spinach for breakfast. I cooked a few strips of bacon, then cooked some fresh spinach in the leftover fat.

We had a ton of rain this morning, but I got in 2 miles in, with one of the pups, between the storms.
    That's 5 miles down!

  • Food journal for the FB challenge has been closed. Had a good day today, despite the lovely fall I had this morning. I'm feeling it a bit. Hoping tomorrow I'll be able to get a jaunt in.

John, that's a classy way to break your fast! I took in some chicken, broccoli and sweet potatoes for mine today.

Haven't worked out in a couple days due to weather, but I did shovel a bunch of snow for about 45 minutes so I'll count that because I'm beat.

Day 3 of no sugar no carbs. It's going great and easier than I thought. Having that mindset of this is only for two weeks really helps. Down 5lbs in water weight. Sitting at a mean 176 this morning so I'm feeling good and light. Dinner tonight is chicken with some roasted brussell sprouts. Had to say no to hanging out for a couple hours because pizza was definitely on its way over. Glad I dodged that bullet! We got 6 inches of snow last night...6! We aren't used to more than an inch or two so needless to say...everything is shut down. Have a good evening!
