The scale is the devil....

I'm frustrated and I know better. I started back on EM2WL about 2 weeks ago. The first week I focused mainly on my eating and then added in some free weights, elliptical use, and strength training the 2nd week. I'm definitely doing more of the weights and strength training than the elliptical and I do take the one day break in between those weights/strength workouts. (That's usually the day I do 20-30 mins on the elliptical.) Today starts the 3rd week.
Why am I frustrated? Because I can feel that my clothes, especially my jeans fit bitter and I definitely feel better overall by eating healthier, however, the scale is driving me crazy. I weighed at the beginning and also the end of the first week and was down 3 lbs which I'm sure was probably water weight but of course it made me happy to see the loss. I weighed again today and I am right back to where I started. I'm taking into consideration the Ahem - monthly changes us lucky women have to deal with and I'm betting that that is the reason for the scale going back up but it sure is hard to not get frustrated with the numbers.
I guess I'm just looking for some encouragement from others that have had this same issue. The issue of feeling your body changing (for the better) however, no movement on the scale. I do want to get away from the scale for the most part but it's a hard habit to break. I've always weighed in the high numbers and had recently lost 70 lbs and was pretty happy with where I ended up. I gained back 20 of those lost pounds and decided it was time to get busy doing what I know I need to do in order to NOT end up gaining ALL the weight back and having to start over.
I'm not giving up on this, it works for me and I know it does. But I really am feeling sad and irritated that I'm not even showing even a 1 lb loss after 2 weeks. So if you have a similar situation, please share it with me. I love reading other folks' stories and they really do help to motivate me and I'm hoping they will keep me on track.
Thanks so much for reading this!

The scale can be such a nuisance! It's best just to avoid it completely when starting back on an exercise routine or when TOM is present - if it's going to bother you mentally. Your cycle alone could easily cause the fluctuation, but also adding back strength training will cause your muscles to retain water. I easily hold 3 lbs of water when I am lifting that will come off after 2 rest days in a row. I personally take two rest days on the weekend so that I can get a valid weigh-in day on Monday morning for this reason. Just stick to what you are doing and you'll see the scale move back down. If your clothes are fitting better, you know you're going in the right direction and doing the right things. Great job!0

hi lovtolaff, I weigh myself everyday so I'm used to what I'm going to see: the son of a *kitten* motherf* doesn´t move or goes up!!!!!!!!!
I know that eventually if I continue with the plan,it will go down, this miracle happens once a week, not more. All the other days, is really annoying.
I'm really considering to weigh myself once a week....
the thing is to not give up spite of the scale... you are feeling your clothes fitting better so sure you are losing inches. get rid of the scale and focus on that, I think I will do the same thing0 -
Jennbecca - thank you for replying. That's interesting info about the 2 day rest period. I may have to try that IF i decide to NOT stop weighing at all!

Haha I use very similar if not worse words on my scale! And I think I really need to give up the scale - at least for a little while anyway. I don't want to get frustrated with what I know that I'm doing right!!
Thanks yall!

I avoided the scale for the first 5 weeks I started EM2WL (im on week 7 now). I was too afraid what the scale would say after I was eating more. Finally I got on because I just wanted to know where I was. HOnestly, I was expecting about a 7-10 pound gain (based off of what other people had said) and I only gained 2-3 pounds. I was happy with that. Now, I get on every day and I have noticed so far (its only been a week) that I have been maintaining. I am eating a little more than my 15% cut but not quite my TDEE. If I could just be consistent and eat at my cut than I know I can get the weight down. Good luck and stay off the scale when you need to!.0

I'm a daily weigher (have been since I was 14-not gonna change it) and was struck by the evil scale yesterday!!!!
I "thought" my weight was going down a bit, very very slowly doing EM2LW, but it was moving. My inches were moving here and there. The weight number the scale was giving me, I wanted to believe, but in the back of my mind, I really wondered, as I've been that weight before and it didn't 'feel' like it. I know it sounds crazy. Anyhow, had to go to the doctor yesterday, stepped on the scale and it was 13lbs heavier than mine!!!! (insert whimper here) I about lost it right then and there. THen it made me wonder if that little devil in the back of my mind was really trying get me!!
We've done some remodeling and such so I wouldn't be suprised if my scale got banged around and is now inaccurate. I bought a new one after my appt that day and sure enough, stepped on it this morning, and its about 1lb off from the doctor (insert heavy sigh here). I took an 8lb weight and got on my new scale and saw the 8lb difference. :-(
So.... I almost feel like I'm starting over. I re-did my numbers, I'm not giving up, and I'm sticking to this! The scale is VERY EVIL in my book! Just gotta keep a chin up and keep on moving.
To OP, friend me if you want and we can chear each other on!! :-)0 -
I stayed the same weight for 3 months - my body changed dramatically.
