Pelvic floor control

I'm guessing many of us are having problems with weakening pelvic floors. Either having kids *or* having a hysterectomy seems to be detrimental in this regard.
I spent lots of time trying Kegels, but was underwhelmed with the results. It was great in the bedroom, but did not seem to help with "other" functions at all.
When I started taking estrogen/HRT, I expected that to help. Was again disappointed. I started Googling for any sort of remedy that worked. I ran across the idea of taking pumpkin seed extract. AZO has a product called Go-Less that contains it but I am using a different brand. Enzymatic used to make one but stopped. I have one that has pumpkin seed and some other herbs as well that I get off of Amazon. Some of the concoctions have soy isoflavones, some don't. I don't know what to think of that component. I tend to avoid soy in general. Some people buy pure pumpkin seed oil without any of the other herbals.
I was pleasantly surprised that these supplements actually work to a fair extent. Now I can sneeze and not have a disaster. Some activities are still not a good idea for me. I would not do jumping jacks without a Poise pad or something like that in place. If I get sick and throw up... uh, well I'm gonna be changing clothes. I absolutely hate this. I don't look or feel old at 46. I've been examined and I don't have anything seriously stretched out, prolapsed, or otherwise physically abnormal going on. It's age related pelvic floor weakening. Very bad for the ego. X(
I saw someone posting on the old group archives about these problems and figured I should mention my experiences in case anyone can benefit from it.

Hi. Last April I had a hysterectomy and other pelvic repairs including a bladder sling. Pretty rough surgery for all that, but I'm no longer having bladder issues. Now, if I could lose the 10 pounds I've gained back since the surgery as well as the 25 prior to surgery!
Good luck!0 -
I've had the bladder sling procedure as well. It has worked really well for me. It's been 6 years leak free.0

I've just started to experience this during my workouts! Ugh!0

I've never had kids. I've not had a hysterectomy. And twice, lately (both times around the expected time of my never predictable now period) I have leaked. Both times I was doing the exact same thing (leaning over to turn on the shower, after a workout, without any feeling of a full bladder). How very very annoying.0

I have noticed that the unpredictable times when I'm bloaty and feel like maybe it would be my period time, the problem is definitely worse.0

Jumping jacks are the worst! If there is anything in there, it is coming out!
And my kids are adopted so it is not childbirth for me either!0 -
Years ago, I got on a trampoline with my kids. Boy was that a mistake! It was also when I started noticing my 'leakage problems'. I was only in my 30's. That's why I opted for the surgery when nothing else worked.
