Eat more veggies! Not me.

As long as i remember i've never been a big vegetable eater, I do like my spinach (cheesy and creamed), lots of berries and some fruits. I would pick veggies here and there (my moms house) and go on my merry way. I am more of a carnivore in that sense.

I've been trying to eat "healthy" for a while and now with my new LCHF way of living, i've been consuming more greens than i've ever had. I don't think my gut likes veggies, or maybe not all of them. I'm going to try and eliminate all of them from now on and see if that helps. I understand about soluble and insoluble kinds, but will drop them all for a week and see if that helps. I will slowly introduce them back, one by one and see what is the culprit. I'm not sure if it's fiber that causing issues, or something else?

I'm sick of dr. telling me to EAT MORE VEGGIES!! For many people, veggies are very hard to digest and cause many digestive problems. It just really upsets me how little knowledge doctors have regarding nutrition, or better yet, how little they really care about you (i know i know, no one cares but yourself). The Antibiotics, prescription drugs, and all kinds of things that create such of havoc in our gut, it's mind boggling.

Watch your food, listen to your body.

I'm not eating a ton of them yet, either, but I want to eat piles of them when I do. Broccoli and green beans are my big ones right now...and spinach, raw, sometimes. So not too bad...but... I'm with you - that might be one of my next steps. I don't really crave or miss them too much, so I'm just going to keep on this way.

Luckily, my doctors seem to have moved into this century of thinking... I'm not getting nagged....yet. We shall wait and see after next bloodwork. :)

Best of luck to you!! Oh, and it might take more than a single week to see changes. Elimination diets usually eliminate for 4-6 weeks or more before adding things back in, though it might not be the same with veggies as it is with grains, etc.

I have veggie issues as well. Check out a list of FODMAP veggies and try sticking to the ones that are low on the list. The high FODMAP veggies make me feel miserable.

Yes, high FODMAPs might be issues as well, you don't know what sneaks in in all those spices! Whew!

The trouble with some doctors is that they think they're on the same intelligence level as god and should be blindly obeyed. I hope you can do really well without veg if they're causing you problems!

Do you notice your issue with raw vs. cooked vegetables? My husband does fine with most cooked vegetables (except cauliflower, which apparently hates him) but his tummy just can't handle raw veggies other than lettuce.

I steam my veggies, but salads are probably my biggest issue. I don't know if it's spinach of leafy lettuce? I'm ditching all of them for now until I figure it out. What a PITA!

@ipcphotodog The one thing I found and I have no idea if this is your case. If I ever bought the already cut up bagged lettuce it has some thing in it that makes my tummy miserable. Maybe a preservative. Needless to say we never buy that kind of thing now. I do buy the bagged spinach but always rinse it before cooking or eating uncooked. Hope your tummy starts to feel better. I was pretty miserable for awhile myself but seem to have a handle on it now.

After reading Gary Taubes 'Why We Get Fat' I don't feel a huge need to eat lots of veggies as long as I am eating grass fed meats. You don't get everything that way (ex folate), but I think you can cut down. Your idea of cutting them out is sound. Just add them back one at a time to isolate specific problem veggies. Also, try to add one back over week. Spend the first 3-4 days eating it again and then end the week back without veggies. It is just as important to see how you live WITH that veggie as it is to see how's you live WITHOUT it.

I did an exclusion diet called the Virgin Diet and discovered I am lactose intolerant. I'm 37 years old! It wasn't eliminating it from my diet that tipped me off. It was the violent reaction of adding it back after 6 weeks without itm
