Well, I typically eat over my macro goals anyway. I average around 2,500-2,600 calories. This was a good day. I expect to eat right back at my normal levels tomorrow. There will be no compensation (unless I really, REALLY don't feel like eating more than my minimum -- ~1800 calories).0

Only problem with eating that much is that I am too full of energy to go to bed. I'm not jittery, but I am not at all tired.0

LOL! I looked at your diary. I suspect those ribs were really good. Did you really go to a Sonny's? Or was that the closest MFP entry you could find? If it was Sonny's, I envy you! They have a great reputation, but I have never eaten there.
I love ribs. I go to cook offs (as a non-participant) and everywhere I travel ~ I try to find a rib joint to eat at. From Famous Dave's to hole-in-the-wall places.

We went to Sonny's. That was their all you can eat dry rub ribs. Way more carbs than usual for me. Also, this entry May be wrong. I had 16 total ribs. I logged the 12 because I had 4 of their all you can eat servings, which are probably the lunch sized ones. If anything, yesterday's 4k calories is an underestimate.
They are pretty good. And the amount I can eat for the price is better than most places. Sure, I got sides I didn't eat, but I really don't feel like I paid for them like at most places.0 -

I did step on the scale this morning to a 0.5 kg gain. Of course, it's all water weight and other stuff still making its way through.
I am still trying to do 3+ meals each day of 30g+ protein. This means, I need to work up the desire to eat breakfast at some point today. Right now, the thought of eating still disgusts me. It's Saturday. I can probably push breakfast off until 10:30-11am. Lunch can be around 2-3pm and dinner can be 6-8pm-ish. Most meals will probably be a little bit smaller than my usual ones.0 -
Do you have any suggestions for how to prepare pork butt country style ribs? I got an amazing deal, but the last time I made them I boiled off all the fat and drowned them in bbq sauce. Obviously I'm not doing that this time. I'd love any ideas!!0

2lbs ain't much. Your body will flush that out this week. I once watched this video on YouTube where an Englishman did a Keto experiment, where he ate 4000-5000 calories @ day for a month. He posted day-by-day weight and I think he only gained like 5 lbs. But if you add the calories up, he should of gained 3 or 4 times that much. (don't quote me on that, but whatever he said ~ it was remarkable). More testament to how well a Keto diet works.

For pork of all types I prefer a dry rub and cooking as long as the available time allows as low as possible. The internet is full of time/temp combinations and rub recipes. All day in a roasting pan in the oven.
Another favorite here is a cut of pork covered in sauerkraut done in a crockpot. The drippings can go right on the veggies.

Funny you should ask because this is exactly what I made for dinner last night! I take the ribs and season w/ my favorite steak seasoning, then drop in a 9x13 baking dish topped w/ sliced garlic cloves and quartered onions (2-3 small onions...they're awesome when cooked down). Cover w/foil and bake @ 375-400* for about 1 1/2-2 hrs until they are literally falling off the bone and can be cut w/ a fork. Drain off juices and mix w/ just enough BBQ sauce (I'm too lazy to make my own, so just find the lowest carb one you can. Stubbs makes a good one, but some more mainstream ones aren't too bad) to color it and make it brushable. Baste ribs and return to oven for an add'l 15-20 minutes until the sauce gets kinda "tacky" rather than watery. Serve w/ add'l "sauce" for dipping.
These are SOOOOOOO good. Got enough leftover for lunch today. That and a side of Fauxtato salad (whatever your fav potato salad recipe is w/ cauliflower instead of potatos) and I'm good to go!0 -

I'm not too worried about the scale. It bounces around every day. I bet you're thinking of this guy live.smashthefat.com/why-i-didnt-get-fat/ and his experiment. He repeated it a couple more times (once high-carb and once plant-foods... I think). Both of those times he gained more weight.0 -

You'll have to follow the directions specific to the web browser you use. It not only does percentages, it also does net carbs for you. And it has a cool pie-chart at the bottom. There are actually 2 pie charts, but only the one on the left is useful.0 -

I did another big rib day today. I can't help myself with all you can eat ribs. Nearly 4,500 calories today. Woohooo.
Brings me weekly average daily calories to almost 2,700 a day. That's about right. The 2,200 MFP sets for me is a bit low.0 -

Fit, I read your other posts about grocery shopping. You would have loved the "shopping" trip I had one day last year. My son called from his workplace and said, "Come down here and bring your checkbook." A supplier had over-shipped a restaurant on an order of pork ribs. The restaurant didn't want them and the supplier didn't want to pay to truck them back. My son offered them just under $1/pound and started calling to peddle them. I got there and loaded about 80 pounds into my van for $75.
The only problem was they were cryovac packed, 2 slabs per package about 10 pounds of frozen ribs per pack. That meant we couldn't have a meal we had to have a feast. We had regular family pork rib feasts for the rest of the summer and fall.0 -

Oh man, 80 pounds of ribs would be awesome. Sad thing is, each 10 pound feast would be half as much as I spent last night on ribs.
Scale is up 1.3 kg (almost 2.9 lbs) today. I am completely not shocked. I think this will be the first day in a while when I skip breakfast, or maybe it will be a late brunch. Right now, I am still disgusted by the thought of eating now. I would like to get my normal 3 meals of 30g+ protein, but it may not happen with how little I feel like eating today.0 -

Get a foodsaver, just in case it happens again! We have a butcher's shop nearby that does really good bulk deals, set up in different packages you can mix and match. It's a once in a while thing, since it's a bit of a chunk of money up front. I spend a few hours dividing and sealing when we get home, and it keeps our freezer stocked for months, working out to less than we would normally spend at the grocery store or Costco for meat as we shopped week to week.0 -
It will happen again, just never sure what the product will be. I have more freezer space than he does so it usually ends up at my house. Currently we are working through a deal on chicken legs. Those were packaged 5 lbs to a bag frozen into solid lumps. There must have been 80-100 pounds to start. My wife is getting a little tired of chicken legs.0

Only works on a computer, not the phone app, but it's a nice plug-in to have.0
