And really enjoying it. I've done South Beach before, and it always leads to eating great, wonderful blood test results, enjoying my food, etc., but somehow eventually I fall back into the Standard American Diet (SAD) and start craving white carbs and sugar etc. again.
Also, I wish I could find an active community discussing South Beach. I actually did join the SBD online site but I think I will cancel that. Their forums are very slow, and I will not be following their menu plans, I like to plan my own meals, so I see no advantage to continuing to pay. Years ago, there was a hugely active forum at Prevention.com with a big South Beach community but that is no longer the case. Enthusiasm for SBD seems way down compared to the time when it first came out.

Hi and welcome! I wish there were more folks as well. And YES! It was prevention.com that got me reading about the SBD. I was actively losing based on the information out there on low glycemic load/impact eating and I eventually wandered to that VERY active SBD site and became an instant fan of it. I tweaked a few things in my own diet to bring them more in line with SBD and called phase 3 my own!
Perhaps we knew each other then?0 -
We might have. I think I went by "Wildflower" there, but it was SO busy that they started a new "group" every single Monday with many many people who were starting that day, and got seemingly thousands of posts a day with all the many groups and other topic questions. I think it was 2004, LONG time ago. I did contribute but never joined a "group", just loved all the posts and ideas. Eventually they removed the South Beach Forum, saying that it belonged on the "South Beach Diet" online site which was, of course, a paid site. It must not have gone over all that well because the forums there are pretty dead. Oh well, things change, lol. Thank you for the welcome!0

Paid forums. No. Not for me. I did try it briefly, but there wasn't much to it. Definitely not worth paying for!
Glad you're here!0 -
I've been a SB dieter for several years as well, and I too could not justify a paid membership, very interested in joining with and active group too.0

Yep. I miss the days when there were a lot of beachers to interact with and learn from.0 -
I think they are out there, somewhere, lol. Just to let you know it took me awhile to find this group. There's no "search" function for groups that I could find, and my "browsing" didn't find it. Finally, I searched SBD on the message board page, and some threads came up with people discussing it, and you, Sabine, posted a link to this group. Otherwise I might never have found it.0

GM...look, there are now four of us! Yay. I rebooted with Sabine on February 11. Did that P1 for two weeks...it is a commitment. Best to sweetd on week 2. It really does go by fast and all I remember is having a slice of Ezekiel and and crunchy, sweet honey crisp apple as my P2 choices that day 15.
I also, stopped paying for a membership...once they started messing the with the layout of the boards, thing went south fast...people began jumping ship and for sure paying any longer was just plain stupid.
Welcome to grammy also.

Doing phase one has reminded me of how much I love the ricotta cheese breakfasts and desserts! LOVE fat free ricotta with a splash of almond milk (unsweetened) to make it creamier and then whatever flavor I'm in the mood for - doing a lot of almond extract, vanilla cream stevia to sweeten it and topped with slivered almonds. Tastes like cannoli filling. Also loved a TBSP of cocoa powder with chocolate stevia to sweeten. I have lemon drop stevia too so I'm going to squeeze fresh lemon into my ricotta and sweeten with that. Whenever I am doing SB, I wonder why I haven't been using those desserts for myself all along, they are so good!0

Well, I'm glad you found us. And that made my week as a paid member worth it!
For me, the most important thing is how I feel overall. The more mediterranean/SB style I eat the less annoying the menopause symptoms are!0
