What am i doing wrong?! Help!

:( i started my journey in january and along with my new fitbit i lost a stone in 7 weeks!.... Since then i have hovered around the same weight moving up and down by a pound, i can't seem to lose any more despite doing the same as before. I do feel healthier but the scales are just not moving. I know you can get complacent over time but i think i am doing things right... Any suggestions would be GRATEFULLY received!

    Morning Cath......I was the opposite to you...in the first 8 weeks I lost 4 lbs.....and it sent me a bit mental....lol....I bought a Fitbit then...(best thing I ever did)....I had 4 spreadsheets going...tracking everything..(I am an Engineer..I love Data..).....and I read everything going......

For me what I did was to knock 100 of my daily goal....and stick to it...religiously........every day for 4 weeks.....(think I had 2 cheat days in that time).......and this worked for me.....It started the scales moving again......and I am 20lbs down now since Xmas.....

Also if you are doing the same exercise all the time maybe try something new....change it up a bit....add weights if your doing cardio....or cardio if weights etc.....

Also do you eat all your FB calories back??? as I do think that my FB gives me far too much to eat some days.....I once had a 4000 adjustment....giving me 5500 calories to eat one day......no way could I eat that...even the fat man I am....;)

Hope this helps a little.......Good luck......

Weight loss is not linear. Some weeks you do everything right but maintain—or even gain. Others, you lose a whole lot in a "whoosh."

The less you have to lose, the more slowly it comes off. That's just the way the human body works. The last 20 lbs. come off about .5 lb. per week. So be patient!

The best weight-loss advice I ever received was to read the Sexypants post: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1

ye I get ya on that one.....^^^Edi has seen my weekend binges....lol........this counting does not help a drinker....lol....

For me in the past (when I drank a lot more than I do now)...I used to pre log.......put in a few beers......add some spirits....then see what's left.......and try to eat enough to fill me.....it made me look for more filling foods rather than high calorie crap......

also...if your a eater when had a few.....IE late night kebab / pizza /etc......then make something you can easily reheat or just eat for when you get home.....if its in your head that you have xyz at home waiting then it helped me to not get the pizza on my way home.....saving a shed load of bad crap calorie wise.....

Also....maybe look at your weekly total rather than daily......save some from your days if poss...to have at weekends.....if your under for the week it should still come off....maybe not as fast as your having larger amounts at weekends...but it should still come off....

We still need to enjoy life.......but planning ahead and re jigging a few things round to accommodate it all can help if you don't want to cut back on your partying.........

This has worked for me....but I also have / had a shed load to lose.....and I am no expert.....its just my way of thinking with all this counting stuff.............I always say change something, wait at least 4 weeks to see if its working....if not then change something else.......but don't stress and don't rush....unfortunately it wont happen overnight......as we all want...lol.

As your diary is private the only logical advice is to reduce your calorie goal as it appears you are eating at maintenance over the course of the week.
Maybe you could try eating less during the week to give you a little more freedom at the weekend?

first of Cath, don't give yourself a hard time, just remember different people lose it at different times , you will get there. I'm sure its been asked but I take it you have reduced your calorie intake? maybe up the cardio a bit if you go to the gym, I try and do 3 x 45 minutes as well as walk a couple of miles to work a day. then add a bit of resistance training in.

Not sure what you are eating or how many calories. It sometimes pays to change what you are eating as the body easily gets used to what it is consuming. May need to slightly adjust your calories. Hope this helps.

If you lose weight, your calorie burns (with exercise) decrease so you might want to re-calibrate your MFP settings. Knock booze on the head for a month (it is only a month) and replace it with exercise and feeling smug instead. Most importantly, log EVERYTHING and keep at a significant weekly deficit. Then you will shift some weight. If you are not already, start a progressive lifting programme to build a little muscle (although you might not want to do this at calorie deficit). A pound of muscle burns 12 pounds of fat a year, just by being there (apparently). Good luck, keep us updated

Re. the bolded bit - that's dreadfully overstated (unfortunately!).
It's around 6cals/lb/per day for muscle.

Great advice to lift weights but adding a little muscle isn't going to have a great impact on RMR.

OK, thanks for the correction. I thought it might be bro science, hence my *(apparently)*. Didn't realise it was so far off. Less than a pounds worth of energy a year, pftt, I'm going to stop lifting altogether..... not really, I freaking love it.

Besides reading the Sexypants post I linked to above (so much good advice!), get some friends in the Fitbit Users group and start doing Fitbit challenges. They're great motivation—and fun: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

Celebrate every NSV (non-scale victory). The healthy lifestyle changes you've been making will start to pay off. Take measurements and photos, too. They'll show you your progress when the scale is being a lying liar who lies.
