So I just did my measurements for this month, and I am down 5.25" overall! I cleaned my closet the other day and found that either I fit or am REALLY close to fitting a ton of things that used to be way too small too. Pretty happy with these results :)

I don't know if this a problem or not (and it is early days for me) but my blood ketones have plunged since I started eating no vegs. My levels vary a lot (I'm assuming because of glucose oscillation) but on keto it's very unusual to go below 0.4.

I started my meativore experience 4 days ago and my ketone levels have been 0.1 / 0.3 / 0.2 / 0.1. I'm a bit disappointed and wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong. It would be really difficult for me to increase fat without any veggies to go with it but I'm willing to try if that's what it takes.

I've also stopped my usual morning decaf with coconut oil (actually stopped having breakfast, I feel no hunger before lunch time), could that be a reason?

Anyone else doing the meativore month that measures blood ketones and is willing to share results?

Maybe I panicked too soon. It's now 7pm and my BG is 81 and ketones 0.7. Maybe the fasting values will get better.

I've measured them before, and never had them go that low. How many calories/day are you eating (if you're tracking)?

More importantly, how is your weight loss and energy level?

Edit: Ah, you've just started a couple days ago. Give it a week and don't stress about the ketones. Most carnivores don't measure them or track them. What's important isn't the level of ketones, it's that your weight and energy levels go in the right directions. You will probably find they go back up. But, even if they don't, if your weight is going down and your energy is up (both of which should be true), then the ketones also being low shouldn't matter.

    @FIT_Goat thank you.

I started logging again and I'm going to do my best to keep it accurate. So far it's been not as difficult as I feared but there's a whole month ahead, lol.

Have you increased your cheese consumption? After being in ketosis a while, I ate way more cheese and that almost booted me out of ketosis.

I, personally, don't log anything. But, increased calories will reduce ketones. Some other things can reduce them as well. I don't think reducing ketones is a bad thing, as long as your weight and energy levels go in the right directions. Ketones are neat, and when I did keto they were a big deal for me, but I don't think they're worth focusing on to the expense of changing a diet that's working anyway.

I rarely eat cheese except for some mozzarella with tomato once a week or so and that will be off during this month, of course. It was probably just as FIT_Goat says, yesterday I ended up above my usual calories and that plus the change in diet must have disturbed things.

I never knew how much problems vegetables gave me until I removed them entirely. I always just assumed my body was normal and everyone felt the way I did after eating. I just thought rumbling, growling guts were part of being alive. I assumed gas and occasional cramps were just part and parcel with being human. I thought [redacted] was just because I was unlucky, and wasn't a result of my diet.

I mentally miss vegetables an awful lot, and was looking forward to going back to using them sparingly after this month was over. Now I'm not so sure. But I also may have experienced more GERD from just pork products (somehow I ended up eating almost exclusively pork meat over the weekend, but it was mixed with vegetables so it's hard to say which is to blame).

I was about to wean myself back ONTO vegetables over the course of this week but now I'm torn on what to do. Nothing is conclusive, and I haven't done anything consistently enough to know for sure.

1 week check-in: stall is over, lost 1.1Kg (~2.5lbs), and my fasting blood glucose was 97!
    I'm ecstatic!

Just realized I didn't get around to posting my weight. I weigh in later than the others because I started late....

    216.5 lbs - may 4th
    209.5 lbs - may 11th
    206.0 lbs - may 16th
    208.0 lbs - may 23rd

Shark week started 3 days after the May 23rd weigh in. It is now May 28th, almost done shark week and I'm back to 206. So I'm hoping to have a little loss by the next weigh in!
