I've been getting back on track after being sick last week and two carby days this weekend. Yesterday was good and so far carb wise today is too, but I'm hungry. I haven't been able to walk as much cuz it keeps raining here so I'm not earning more calories. I changed my deficit to lose .5 lb a week last week so I do get more calories. But I really want to eat more and not go over. I don't get why I'm so hungry, when I first started going this low on carbs I was hardly hungry at all.

You were sick for a while last week, though. If you look at your calories since last Tuesday, are you over or under? Extra today doesn't necessarily put you over maintenance, if you've still been low most of the week.

Thank you, I don't even look at my weeks overall. I still ate last week even though I was sick but I've been way under cals for a while some days. I should really look at that more frequently.

Had some whipped cream with cocoa powder, that fills me up for a while

Eaaaaatttttttt!! There will be times when your body needs more food and days when it doesn't want as much. Flow with it.

I guess so, I was expecting to feel not hungry again like the first time I went keto. must be something else going on with me now that needs food. hopefully it'll pass soon, I like feeling full, not like I'm famished

It's still a bit of a rollercoaster our bodies are on. I was more hungry yesterday than I've been in a long time. No changes to macros. Just a bigger appetite. Learning to roll with them. These days make me not worry about the days with lower intake.

Calorie goals are really arbitrary unless you've had hydrostatic testing done. Everyone's metabolism is different. And your calorie needs changes from day to day.

So you really need to just up your fat and protein on those hungry days. Your body is trying to let you know it is sending reasonable signals again. And after being sick, you may need to repair some things, and that might be why your body is screaming for food. By limiting calories flat out, you are telling your body that it's voice doesn't matter, which I don't know about you, but that is the exact thing that got me here in the first place.

I'm not saying give up on calories altogether - I'm just saying it should be more a loose guideline. Some days I eat about 1400 calories, other days it is 2800 calories, and yet my weekly deficit still ends up being what MFP mostly recommends... So natural ebb and flow...

If you need that control, just make sure you remember to listen to your body, too.

A cup of bouillion with a tablespoon or two of coconut oil is always good for curbing my hunger.

Ugh now I feel really hungry again. This is so annoying, I liked that always full feeling. This time I want Chinese or Mexican too. Or just something covered in cheese

I hear you. When I got back on board it seemed like I was way more hungry for way longer before I finally got the relief. Stick with it. You know it will be worth it. Keep trying different foods. Did you have a go to food before you got sick?

I also second what KnitorMiss said. Your body might be trying to repair stuff PLUS you were under calories for days. I watched some great videos on youtube by Dr. Jason Fong. He showed that if you restric calories (or basically don't eat enough) you body will increase the hunger signals and down regulate how much it uses and that this reaction can continue for up to a year!! So if you've been really low for days without some higher days, the body may just be a bit on the cautious side saying "Yo, lady, we need food in here". Plus it may need a little extra, as mentioned cause "they've got some work to do in there".

Now I only get that crazy, can't-get-rid-of-it hunger during my TOM. Which, incidentally is coming up. Dreading it. I almost go crazy. I will eat until there's really no more room and it just won't shut off! I tend to go into forced isolation so as not to submit anyone to the unfortunate experience of dealing with me during that time. But during that time LOTS OF SALT AND FAT and I mean a LOT. Are the only thing that give me relative peace. I even salt my bacon. Yes I do. Salt AND lite-salt on my bacon. Mmmm bacon and coffee.....

    I hear it calling me...
    .... gotta go!

I'd be curious what your calorie and macronutrient intake is at and what your food choices look like.

Curious on if you like to toss in many fibrous veggies

    I learned some Asian cooking

BokChoy is a great veggie to me that is super filling and good with some sesame oil when cooking. If I have a good sized serving of that

I can end up feeling quite full on the chicken or steak I stir fry to go with it

Do you plan a break even day?

I love Saturday workouts and the break even day... Mmmmm

Sometime just a little calcium fortified Tums antacid will calm the tummy demons. Just a break till meal time.

I may get ran out of here for this but I do a square of 85% dark chocolate which is lower carb for moderate carb dieters like me

    It knocks back the munchies

I'm pretty comfortable and used to fluctuations in my appetite. Sometimes I'm just more hungry than others so I eat more but those days offset the low calorie days and it all works out.

Maybe try eating breakfast instead of drinking your calories? Or spend more of your carbs on fruits and vegetables? I hope you work it out and you're back to normal soon. :)

@sidesteel my diary is open, any advice is appreciated

I feel like I make good choices, I've been higher on carbs since being sick and had probably too much ice cream yesterday.

@AlabasterVerve I eat food for breakfast on the weekends, I don't wake up early before work to make something and I'm not much of a pre planner. I used to drink coffee all the way to lunch, I found making it the way I do I only need one cup then munch on some almonds half way to lunch.

Sadly I don't really like fruit and veg much, though I've been adding more salad in this week. Picked up some more salad, green beans and mushrooms on my way home though on your suggestion.

@professionalHobbyist no hate here, I love my 85% dark chocolate. Never had bok choy, what does it taste like?

It is a softer smoother celery. It is popular in Japanese places. It looks like white smoother celery with dark green leaves

It is just a veggie option to keep things interesting

It is used in seafood dishes often

I'm confused. I was looking at my nutrition tab and I found that you can change to show you average calories for the week. It'll show net calories before goal, is that my deficit for weight loss? or is that more of a deficit.
