What food item had a carb count that surprised you?

For me it was artichoke hearts. 4 pieces of the quartered ones are about 5 net carbs. Wouldn't have thought that. While to many it doesn't seem like that much, I stick to about 20 carbs a day, so that's 1/4 of my daily allotment.

Tomatoes. It made me sad. I LOVE tomatoes... And maybe beans? I expected more fiber, I think.

Brussel sprouts have serious carbs for a green

FairLife milk is low sugar and high protein. Check it out! It is double filtered and tastes normal

Mine was onions and garlic too. I also had some vitamins that had one carb per capsule, and the daily dose as six! Changed them once I realized!

+1 for the fairlife, I finally have milk I can work into my day on a regular basis and the whole milk is deliciously creamy to boot.

    Values per cup:
    6 carbs
    150 cals(for the whole)
    13 grams of protein
    8g of fat

I don't remember the calcium figure, but it's also higher than normal milk, so good for us women on birth control and or lift weights often

Yeah, onions shocked me too. I thought of them as a meaningless food. More like an herb or a garnish.
    Me too!!

My understanding is that is is fairly accurate of about half the seafood out there, period, real or imitation.

Brocolli has way more carbs than I am happy with.

Cheese has way less than I imagined. 100g of my favourite colby has less than 1g.

Good to know about the Fairlife milk. Have been seeing it in the stores, but hadn't tried it yet.

I hope to try this once I get to maintenance, because I really enjoy the occasional glass of milk.

I just got some organic rainer cherries in my CSA and almost cried when I saw how high they were. I wasn't totally surprised, but extremely disappointed. I'm moderate carb and it is still hard to justify

Kale= 7gr per cup!!! ..I was using it in my protein shakes for bulk..switched to spinach and Romaine lettuce

….anyone notice how magically KALE now comes in GIANT multi pound bags at the grocery? um, where was all this Kale the last 50 years? When you see the new trend for bodybuilders, LCers and others to add 'greens' to their shakes, you see the popular 'demand' is met with a pillowcase size sack of Kale.

I haven't braved them since I started this WOE but I love them. Someone posted a recipe for them with butter, cheese, and soy sauce. How bad are they? :(

Soy sauce is 3 grams of carbs per 1 tbsp. Nooooo. Rip off.

Yea, I don't think I ever ate Kale before and my friend was telling me how wonderful it was. I went to the store and the bag was about size of a couch pillow! I thought, oh well, won't be eating any kale tonight.... LOL!

    I hope this helps,

cashews for me too, they are my fave nut and i assumed they would be around the same as other nuts. it is a blessing is disguise as i would probably be eating tons if they were lower in carbs.

also carrots. i love raw carrots.
