Cheeseburger Pie

I've never been brave enough to buy it at my store, but I might try it for giggles. Mine literally looks like a white block of hard cheese. Unwrapped it could probably pass for block mozzarella or monterey jack or something. Just looks like a block of white hard cheese. Next time it's on sale, I'll buy it, snap a picture, and try it... They don't carry what you show above at my store that I've ever seen.0

@knit, we have the farmer's cheese you describe where I live. It is a nice mild tasting cheese, very similiar to mozzarella or jack I suppose. I'll have to buy some too next time I see it, if only for the nice connotation the name brings to my mind.0

I checked this recipe, and it comes out to more than 1000 calories per serving. That puts it out of my range. With some tweaks, it does fit in my budget.0

I have had both fresh Farmer's cheese which is like ricotta and the pressed kind the picture from Stop n Shop. I did not realize it had zero carbs. A nutritionist recommended it to me as possibility along with raw sheep's cheeses even though it comes from cows when I was deemed sensitive to dairy.
I'm looking forward to trying the Cheeseburger Pie recipe too.

That recipe reminds of this one that made my rotation this week. Haven't made it yet but will soon. It's taco pie.

Do you think the cheeseburger pie would freeze? Say in meal size portions? I am having surgery soon and looking for ideas that hubby can just reheat for me.0

I made this for dinner. I only used about 80g of mayo, 60ml of cream and 4 eggs. Probably about 400g of cheese, and 900g of LEAN (premium) mince. I also added 6 rashers of bacon diced. I figured I could get away with the lean mince due to all of the other added fats in the recipe. I used some steak seasoning in the mince when I cooked it. The whole lot made 6 serves at about 600 cals a serve, which is alot but doable in my 1800 cal limit. My partner loved it (had it for lunch and dinner the next day) so it was definitely a hit. We had it with bbq sauce on top (sugar free for me).0

I haven't tried the above yet. I hope to soon. If you like cheesburger pie, you might also like the following:

I don't believe that cheese label at all! I remember being in Weight Watchers when certain new foods would come out and the labels looked so awesome. Like 1 point foods that were so delicious for huge serving sizes. Someone would share the food at a WW meeting and then all the local stores would sell out within a few days. Then a month or two later we all found out it was BS. I think a whole bag of Pirate's Booty popcorn was like 2 points (at first). LOL0

The Taco Pie sounds really good. I will make it but not with taco seasoning (don't trust those spice mixes). All you need is some tomato paste, garlic and cumin. It's the cumin that makes tacos taste like tacos.0

We made this yesterday and when it got out of the oven I thought "there is nothing to this." Then I realized I forgot the flipping eggs!! I should have just made cheeseburgers on the grill! Dang. Will try again at some point. I did use bacon and pickles.0

Made this last night for dinner. I made a few changes to taste. Outcome 4 out of 5 stars. Nice recommendation. I look forward to getting more recipes and posting some for the August challenge.
I used 1lbs ground beef, 1 lbs Hot Italian Sausage, and 4 strips of bacon. Sautéed first in pan.
Added one cup full of onions, pickles, mushrooms, peppers sautéed first in pan, then added to cooking dish. Used Montreal steak for seasoning.
Used shredded mozzarella, farmer's cheese and colby. (cause that's what was in fridge)
Did not use any mayo.
Not as carb friendly as the original recipe, but I cooked for family. I ate less to compensate for the extra carbs and had fewer carbs on my earlier meals.
Side note on 0 carbs. I also noticed zero carbs on the packaging for my heavy cream. Which again, is doubtful. As KnitorMiss and Kerinny noted, they use a small serving size to get under declaring a tangible amount. What they should write is <1g. (Less than one gram) per 2 tbls., which is different than saying zero in bold print.0 -
I made this for the family this weekend with the following modifications:
1 lb 80/20 ground beef
4 slices bacon
1 bunch green onion
3 cloves fresh garlic
3 eggs
a few TBSPs mayo
1/4 c. heavy whipping cream
1 c. sharp cheddar
Made it all in cast iron, no draining. My two kids (4 and 2) are very picky eaters and have refused most meat for their short little lives but they each demanded seconds of this. DH and I both loved it as well. The calories on this version came out to 479 per serving. It did keep me full for the rest of the evening. Definitely adding this to the rotation. Thanks so much for sharing!!

SkinnKerinny - I use this taco seasoning recipe. One batch does about 10 servings of 1lb hambuger meat, it comes out to 3carb or 1 net carb depending on how you count. No fillers, no added chemicals, all spices you mix yourself. I prefer it now to the packets and if I wasn't LC, I'd still used it.

All the above sounds delicious! Hubby loves taco anything so I'm trying that taco pie tonight. Cheeseburger pie's calories scared me..... Going to save that one for a day where I skip lunch LOL!0 -
Alright, take two of the cheeseburger pie was much more satisfactory. Compared to my last effort, I used more meat, less mayo, one more egg, same amount of cheese and hwc and added granulated garlic and 7 strips of cooked, crumbled thick-cut bacon (7 strips is how many I happened to have raw and ready to go) mixed into the top cheese layer. The texture was alot better, and the flavor, with garlic and bacon, much improved.
