Marla - I've started using smaller dishes to help with overeating. Small plates, small bowls...tricks my brain into thinking I ate more.

I was going to say the same thing - one of the dietitian's tips was to use a smaller plate. The plan she has me on is based on a 9" plate, where 1/4 is protein, 1/4 is grain, and the other 1/2 is veggies & fruits, plus 1 serving of dairy. She told me the little cheap plastic plates you can buy at Target or Walmart are perfect for it. I've read studies on this - they give the same amount of food but half the people get it on small plates (so the plate looks full) and half the people get it on a larger plate (so it doesn't look like there's as much food on the plate), and the people who have the smaller plates are satisfied, where the people with the larger plates don't feel like they had enough to eat. The psychology of it is really interesting to me.

I typed out a message yesterday and then MFP locked up and I lost it and I just never got back in to write again.

I had Jason at 6:00 yesterday morning, then went for my run/walk after work. It was cold (upper 50s), windy & raining and I was planning on holding off until tonight, but then there was an unexpected break in the rain so I went out and ran. Ended up getting rained on the final 10 minutes or so, but I was glad to get out anyway. It was kind of drizzling when I start and I debated going back to my car for a hat.

Not sure what I'm doing today. Friday is usually a trainer day, but he's out of town (which is why I saw him yesterday morning). I've got a dentist appointment at 3:00 to check on a filling she put in for me a few weeks ago, which is still sore and really sensitive to cold. If she doesn't have to do anything with it I'm going to try to make myself go swim. If she has to numb me I'll probably go home, then head to the gym later to get in some kind of cardio.

Today, I completed my total body cardio fix of the 21 day fix. It's the wooooorst. But I suppose it's actually the best, because it pushes me, and I'm exhausted and so relieved when its over!
I've been contemplating trying to join a boot camp.. Or some kind of lifting program. I need a switch up... I can't keep my attention in one place too long. I started the 21 day fix at the end of June... And I'm starting to get bored of the same thing over. I was thinking of trying a boot camp 3 x per week, then switching up the other 3 days per week.. Jillian michaels 30 day shred, Ripped in 30 and 21 day fix. And my rest day doing hot yoga... Or actually resting.
I think what truly is most difficult for me is the diet. I catch myself mindlessly eating my kids leftovers ... Or eating while I'm cooking. And I do find cooking separate meals kind of a Pain in the butt!

Today I'm going to make some pumpkin butter to freeze ... I love it in my overnight oats and having it on-hand makes breakfast that much easier to plan! And a good diet is all about planning, right?!?

We're having my sons 3rd birthday on Sunday.. So I'll be spending my weekend cleaning and setting up for that. He's so excited for his " farm" birthday! It's the little things in life.... A piece of cake with a cow picture on it will absolutely make my sons day!!

    Have a good weekend all!

So...I typed up an entire long post and it only sent the first sentence.

Laura - I actually like running in the rain. Probably because it happens so rarely here. Plus it's so hot that the idea of water being dumped on me while I run sounds awesome!

Tara - Why do you cook separate meals? Do you make different meals for the kids, or did you mean cooking for every single meal?

So, I got a 5 mile run in early this morning. To try and counter the migraines I've been getting from running in the heat, my hubby suggested I not run fasted. So this morning I had a Greek yogurt before I ran. It sat well, and so far no headache. Not sure if it's due to eating or not, but I'll keep it up and see if it helps. I also got a short 30 minute swim in. It was a force workout where I used a buoy on my legs so I was only working my arms. It felt good actually, I was worried it might be too much in one day but it seems to work. Kind of helps my body loosen up after the long run.

Tomorrow is my rest day. I'm only doing my Pilates class, which I love as I get so tight by the end of the week and it helps stretch all my muscles out again. A combine that with foam roller and baths and my soreness has been kept at a minimum. Considering this is my first full week of training I have managed in several months...I'm quite pleased!

School starts Monday and I was following my school year routine a bit already and it works well. I should be able to actually stay on top of things this year and actually have time for myself! I'm hoping to actually get some reading and cross stitching in this year. For the first time since my second kiddo was born.

Hi all, for the last 3 yrs I have been eating with my small square plates. I have this great set of dishes, the large ones are large! The small are just a bit bigger than the normal small so perfect dinner plate.

But....all of that is in storage. Our last place i used small plate, this place has very limited stuff, 4 large plates only. I already had to buy some utensils, silverware, big bowls for salad etc. dont want to buy anymore so will just have to take less.

Are you eating different food Tara? I have done that before but since its just us and we are retired if we eat separate mike will cook his own food, hes a great cook.

Mike likes to have pancakes 3 times a week and i cant do that! I eat two small ones with real syrup and fresh fruit about once every two weeks. So we cook separate on days like that. He uses low cal fake syrup that i call poison because of all the artificial junk in it...might be less calories but....

Forgot exercise, lol....went to nia class and going for walk when it cools down.
