Not losing weight on Keto. PLEASE HELP.

The FB Ketogenic dieters have a VERY strict interpretation..and are not open to even using terms "incorrectly" on their site. Ive posted abut my run in due to MY understanding that ketogentic nutrition is NOT high protein..but with these people it IS..and they use grams only, as in 110 gr protein to 65 fat, low carb is the only comparison I recognized. no mention of LCHF, no use of % of macros..ever.
but it may work for YOUGER dieters… who can tolerate so much protein..and are moving more..I had to drop out as my age, metabolic issues, kidney disease don't allow an older female to follow their plan at all.
( I WAS surprised at how adamant they are about the high protein..which goes against EVERY BOOK/Article/talk, etc I have seen/read since learning about Keto. oh well. the published commercial articles that call Keto high protein must mean them.0 -

It could be your body recomping itself. I wouldn't freak out. But depends on how long your plateau has been. When in doubt up fats drop carbs, and drink more water. Also there's been a lot of debate on whether artificial sweeteners set you back or not. Some say yes, some say no. All the long time ketoers that I know don't use them though.0

Keto is great initially but everyone plateaus eventually. I would suggest cutting fat in half or so while upping protein 1-2 days a week (doing keto 5-6 days/week). Gluconeogenesis is a very slow process, it shouldn't knock you out of keto by upping protein 1-2 days; you could also do MCTs as fat sources on these days as well.0

Why do you suggest this? I'm considering lowering my fat intake extensively, upping veggies and protein for one month then coming back to the typical keto diet. I would do this for no other reason than a reset of some variety without kicking myself out of ketosis.

It's nowhere near the insanity of cyclical keto where carbs vary based on day of week and/or workout regimen.

Try a fat fast (about 90% of cals from fat) or at least increase your fat intake some (while lowering protein). Really insulin resistant people cant usually tolerate high amounts of protein. To get the highest blood ketone readings I have to keep my macros at 80%+ fat and keep protein around 15%. The more protein I eat the higher my fasting blood glucose numbers get and I lose slower and slower. You could also try IF by eating in an 8 hour window or less. Less insulin release by eating less often which means more time spent burning fat!0

Also, try weighing your food if you dont already. Its very easy to underestimate portion sizes and with a high fat diet its easy to eat far more calories than you realize since a slight miscalculation can mean being off by 1-200 cals (or more) at each meal. Also, dont eat back exercise cals if you normally do. Burn estimates are just that...estimates...and are usually far too generous..0

That groups charts would push me out of ketosis because of high protein. But that's a personal metabolism thing. I operate better on higher fat.

I think weight loss is similar to how a child grows - in fits and spurts. I rarely lose evenly. I may get 5 days in a row that are down but then I get the bounce up. If I was just weighing every week, I would be certain I stalled out because I happened to weigh at a low point and then a high bounce.
I do wish weight loss was linear. I would be so much more satisfying....
I do believe that changing my diet helps keep the body off kilter and may help with weight loss. This is just my n=1 though. Some weeks I skip breakfast, other weeks I am almost a carnivore, then at other times I eat more fish, or more cheese and fat, or more veggies than usual. Keto still has a fair amount of wiggle room, even within the low carb range. I think changing things can help.
JMO... I have nothing to back this idea up with though. LOL0 -
My recommendation would be to "upgrade" to water fasting.

Dear FEMA, I feel your pain and frustration, lady. I started the Fed Up Challenge in May 2015. The weight that was supposed to fly off my waist barely budged, and just as the weight loss pace was picking up, it stalled for 3-4 weeks. I then began keto about five weeks ago. Each day, I aim for 125g fat, 75g protein, and less than 20g carbohydrates per day (I usually average 5-10g net carbs per day). I also do this with intermittent fasting. I usually eat my first meal of the day at noon, I stop eating about 4-6 p.m., and I don't break my fast again until about noon the following day. While I have not been seeing rapid results, I have been experiencing steady, dependable results over these past several weeks, which is really encouraging. I took strict notes on my weight during my period; I ended up gaining a little over 3 pounds, and about 4 days into my period, my weight dropped back down and then some. Reading everybody's responses to your situation is a necessary reminder that everybody's body functions on its own terms. I wonder if maybe your plateau is a combination of too few calories (since you're so active!) and the fact that you're starting to get very close to your goal weight. Also, how would you feel about researching intermittent fasting to see if it will kickstart your metabolism? I'm not saying this is a one size fits all solution. It's been pretty successful for me, and it's helped me to further control food craving and appetite in addition to the keto diet. Also, I think you're heading in the right direction by eliminating diet sodas. See how your body responds to that change.
