The Lazy Girl's Guide to Getting Toned...borrowed from Emily Bibb
Here's something you're going to love: a total-body workout you can do without even having to stand up. That's right, for those days you're feeling a little lazy (it happens to the best of us), here's an efficient series of exercises you can do in the comfort of your pj's. But before you write this off as easy, try it for yourself. There's a whole lot of burn and bum work, but hey, at least you can skip the gym -- just this once.
Do these six exercises two or three times.
1. Bicycle Crunches ...Do 10 to 12 reps
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqoD0Bdggto
2. Plank w/Donkey Kick ... Do 8 to 10 reps on each side
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0l6-xS0s-w
3. Single-Leg Bridge Lift ...10 to 15 times
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-6Gonx2Wpo
4. Side-Lying Leg Lifts ...30 seconds on each side
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKR209nWCdE
5. Mat Swimming ...30 seconds then Rest and Repeat
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TKP5UrdKqA
6. Scissor Abs ...15 to 20 reps
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trfWi_VfUJM
Have fun! Let me know what you think.

Thanks Chris, Paula and Clara for all your kind words. It means alot. He is spending as much time as he can laying on us.
Chris I love the plank variation.
Shelley0 -
Shelley - kiss your kitty for me.
Today was really nice! Walked with Bean for a bit then by myself...took DH for an appt...got on the recumbent...shopped...hit the gym w/DDD and our trainer. Her workouts are getting tougher and tougher.
So...8.22 miles for 16,171 steps; 12.28 miles on the recumbent in 45 minutes; 50 min gym workout. Must lose the beer pounds I collected Saturday!! ...watch me not be able to walk tomorrow!! bwahahaha!
Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday...I'm getting a back rub tonight...see ya!

Shelley, Even if you can't be with us here, know we are there in spirit with you.
My left shoulder has been killing me for over a week. Don't know why. Going to make this a work night, sending emails and catching up on sleep.
Hope all goes as well as possible for all.
Paula0 -
Paula, I hope your shoulder gets better. Are you still going to a PT? Maybe s/he can help figure it out.
Didn't have Bean this morning, so I got out there really early for my walk then got on the bike for an episode of Grimm. Took DH to an appt with his surgeon...they are scheduling the second hip-fix in January. The doc said everything looks good. Then I took a nap! Down a little more this morning...not back to what I weighed Saturday morning though. Maybe tomorrow.
So, I managed 6.57 miles for 12,321 steps and 11.0 miles on the recumbent bike in 45 minutes.
I hope everyone is hanging in there and having some fun.

You two are such great gals. Bandicoot seems a bit better today. Moving a little more, still walks like a drunk at 2 am. But ate almost a whole can today. And he meowed, and pureed more. Normally I would not tell people I have spent around two thousand on my pets in one month. Heck, I have never had such a bad month before. But knowing that, and all my boys issues this month. You can imagine what was going through my head when Cooper stole the large red needle cover and was chewing on it. DH was giving Timmy his arthritis shot. And sat it on the floor next to him. Cooper is an opportunist. All I could think was how much it was going to cost to get it out of him. We managed to trade him a small piece of jerky for it. Phew, another tragedy averted. Did I mention Cooper is very ill tempered when it comes to taking something out of his mouth? My mother in law created a monster. Joey I can take anything out of his mouth. Oh and my kitty, actually tried to fight getting his meds tonight.
Sounds like you both had a great day. Chris how is your DH? Hope his appointment went well. And you are watching Grimm.
Shelley0 -
Paula I sure hope your shoulder gets better.
Shelley0 -
Shelley, I'm glad the kitty is feeling better. I hope everything goes well. DH is doing really great. Doc was happy. Yes, still working through Season 4 of Grimm.
It helps to get me on the bike.
Paula, how are you doing?
This will be a REST DAY for me. We have Bean for the day and get Lucas this morning. DDD tells us that Lucas is crawling all over the place! Might just have to kid proof things a little early. After he gets here, we are going over to the park for a little bit. DH hasn't been out walking since his surgery. We're going to see how far he gets. Then we'll all go for a car ride.
I'll be back with more exciting details of my day a little later!
Chris0 -
Monday was a travel and rest day. Back home with a pretty bad cold and trying to get back in a routine. Yesterday I walked with my BFF early morning then later in the evening and got in 14,242 for 5.85 miles. My goal is to keep up the cardio as much as possible.
Shelley - good to hear your kitty is better. Your love for your pets is inspiring.
Paula - how's the shoulder?
Chris - sounds like your husband is doing well.
Planning to go to Zumba and tennis practice today. And back to work tomorrow.

Chris so happy he had a good check up.
Hope his walk goes well.
You two are really going to be on your toes with Lucas!
lol
Kathy that fit bit thing is turning you into a new person. Hope your cold is better soon. Summer colds are the worse. And thanks, he is a little better. But by no means out of the woods yet. It is really sad when they become old.Hey how is zumba going for you?
Paula I hope your shoulder is doing better.
My mom had surgery on her foot Monday. She has to stay off it for 5 weeks. My sister is staying with her for a week. Off to dose the kitty again.

Walked to/from work and the auto shop. Bicycled with friend at lunch. This is really helping work off the extra calories. Next step is not incurring the extra calories. Bought walnut almond bread (shouldn't have, but did). Knew there was a good possibility half the loaf wouldn't make it home.
A skin-and-bones man and tired dog were begging at the market exit. He was thrilled to get 3/4 loaf of raisin bread. He didn't realize the favor went both ways.
Glad Bandicoot's doing better! Thought Shih Tzus were supposed to be sweet. Why's Cooper such a pooh-pooh-head? He's so lucky to have a loving, caring home. "Best Mom" award to you, Shelley!
Need to sleep on pillows, but shoulder's getting better? (fingers crossed)
Love to you all.
Paula0 -
Paula you are cracking me up. I made zuchinne bread with nuts. Shouldn't have, but did. LOL Glad you were able to gift some. Cooper is a stinker for sure. I am sure he was trying to play. But it was not appropriate for a dog toy.
And his dad should be more careful.
Now do I need to send you some more pillows? I am starting to catch up on some of the house work since Bandicoot is feeling a little better. Before I was spending loads of time holding him. I am having to cut off lots of knots from him now. He sure got covered due to being sick. Normally I brush him lots. But I didn't while he was at his worse. He still looks good to me.
Good news all. Since my kitty has been ill I have stayed on track with my eating so much better. I am going to try and get in a few minutes of exercise everyday starting tomorrow. Have laundry to catch up on tonight.
Shelley0 -
You guys!!! Those are my favorite kinds of breads.
Paula - very kind of you to share. Hope your shoulder is better.
Shelley - kisses and hugs for the kitty.
DH put together two bookcases for me to put in the library. We have books stacked everywhere...11 bookcases that are full...we read mostly paperbacks, so the bookcases are narrow for DVDs and media stuff...and one DVD rack that was full of books. Anyway I unloaded the bookcases in the library...moved them, brought in the two new ones and loaded everything back up. The DVD rack went to the garage (wrong color). These are great bookcases because they are divided into three sections with only one set shelf. You decide the height of all the shelves to hold your books. So the shelf can be regular paperback high...tall & wide paperback high...or hard back high. Cool stuff! I'm happy! DH still has one more to assemble. I can wait for that one.
Got to go...back in a few minutes
Chris0 -
Chris, What kind of shelves do you have? Derek and I are setting up a library too, also mostly paperbacks, and suffering from sticker shock right now. We're thinking Hoot Judkins, but maybe Sauder.
I walked 30min today CityHall to SheriffStation. I sweep the receipts every two weeks and it's less than a mile away, so this is going to be a regular thing now.
Exercised & stayed within calories today. Plus my metabolism seems to have cranked up - glowing a little too-too, need a shower, can't wait for El Nino's extravagant water supplies - just hope things don't flood and slide too much when it hits.
Sweet pettings for the kitties and pooches. Bean too!!!
Love,
Paula0 -
Paula...Atlantic Oskar 1080 Media Storage Wall Unit is the name of the bookcases. I got 3 from Staples but Amazon has them a little cheaper...didn't think about Amazon until later. We have them lining the hall which is pretty long and in two of the bedrooms...love them!
I like your walking!! I got out there with Bean then by myself for a bit then got on the bike. Had to go to Kaiser for some shots...have to go back in two months for the other half of the shots...then I have to go for a bone density test. Egad!!
Going to help DDD in her classroom tomorrow. She was hired by St. Mary's College as a part-time lecturer!! I think that's pretty cool! She doesn't want to work there full-time. She wants to teach at our community college, but this will look great on her resume!
Okay I managed 7.16 miles for 13,965 steps; 11.03 miles on the recumbent in 45 minutes and some Grimm!! Down a tiny bit this morning, but still not back to what I weighed Saturday morning before the celebrations...
Hope you all have a terrific Friday!

Oops Chris, sorry I ate them all. But nice to know what type of breads you like.
DH must be feeling better if he is putting bookcases together for you.
I have 3 bookcases. One is almost empty, another I am giving away, and the other has cook books on it. I only read books one time. So do not keep them. Though I have been known to accidentally get a book twice. Muahaha.
Enjoy the new neat look of your bookcases.
Oh my gosh, a lecturer! How exciting.
Paula that sounds like a great walk for you. Want to borrow Cooper or Joey? They both are up to it.
Hugged the kitty for you both. He gets his blood drawn tomorrow. I hope they say something positive about the way he is starting to walk. I got lots of weeding DONE. I like to dig them up. Got to get the root! Also planted my two new Hostas. It was a good day.
Shelley0 -
Shelley, I've got my fingers crossed for your kitty. I like any flavored bread...I like to smash it into ice cream. I do have to go through my books. Some stuff I will never read again. The library loves us!!
Walked w/DH and Bean this morning...very slow. DH is doing better and better. Bean loved it because he got to go off-leash. He can't do that when he walks with me. Then I went down and helped DDD in her classroom. She needed me to rip out pages from workbooks and clip them together...a bunch of books. I ended up bringing some home to finish up. Homework!!! bwahahah!
The kids came over for a bit and DDD shared some of what happened in class today. Funny stuff. She does all the voices when she tells a story.
Tomorrow we hit the gym in the morning and then I'll walk and bike before it gets too hot.
Hope everyone has a fun-filled Saturday.
Going to go talk to my pillow now!

Chris, I always wondered why cake and ice cream weren't served as a mash-up - so good that way.
Happy thoughts for Bandicoot!
I bought some heals for work. Haven't worn them in probably 30years, but can again now. What a hoot. Changed to sneakers to walk to bank and forgot to change back. Left new shoes at work. We might get drizzle this weekend. Maybe some of the sweaty salt will wash away.
My shoulder's almost better. Must have been the way I was sleeping. Speaking of which. :yawn:Paula

Paula, I so totally agree!! Sorry about your new shoes spending the weekend in the office...bummer!
Hit the gym w/DDD and SIL this morning, then walked w/DH and bean for 99 minutes then went off by myself for just about an hour. Then I went shopping!
We had crazy dark clouds most of the day, but it was muggy. Thank goodness for the breeze or I wouldn't have made it! My fast walk was at noon...clouds were good...when the breeze pushed the clouds and exposed the bright, hot sun, I was cooked. The worst was if I had the wind to my back and the sun on my head. But I lived through it!!
Well, today looks like 9.37 miles for 18,828 steps and 40 minutes at the gym doing a pretty brutal workout. I'm done!
I hope you all have a perfect Sunday!
Chris0 -
Well that was awful. It did not save what I put in here last night. Just say that I did then. But it was all good things. Lol
Have a great Sunday.
Shelley0 -
Chris - Those shelves look nice. So many types to mix and match.
Shelley, Don't you hate when that happens?
I spent three hours writing a long discussion this morning which hung up when I hit send. So while it was hanging, I copied the text. Whew! But when I resent it, TWO copies went to all my group. Arghhhh!
Derek & I are putting together furniture - and wheels on the generator (preparing for either the El Nino or the Apocalypse - ur choice) - and then hanging a 50-100? pound mirror. Should be a good workout. My arms are smiling.
Good day to you too.
Paula0 -
Three and a half hours of building furniture: pounding, twisting and hefting heavy stuff. My arms are feeling it already. Might have to stay home tomorrow if I can't lift them.
Paula0 -
Paula - why are you building furniture? What is it for? Why? huh? Good job on the exercises. And...if you can't lift your arms, you can't type, run a calculator or punch buttons to answer the phone. So, you have my permission to stay home.
DDD and I walked this morning then I walked w/DH and Bean. I think I strained a muscle in my right thigh...ouch! We have gym tomorrow evening, so I'm not going to do any walking. Resting it might help.
So I managed 7.86 miles for 17,154 steps.
Tomorrow will be a good day!
Chris
