Hubby just texted he wants to take me out to dinner. There are two places I know of that we can get decent low carb food at nearby but I'm kinda tired of them (grilled chicken avocado green salad or a steak place). Ideas?

Where do you go and what do you order when you want to celebrate with a nice dinner date at a decent restaurant?

I don't know, but we are heading to Chili's at some point this weekend before my rewards points expire. I will probably have steak with a side of green veggies and a salad. Chili's is about as fancy as it gets for me. Personally I find dining out to be so easy on LCHF. As long as the place has meats that aren't breaded or glazed in anything sweet, I just order meat and veggies. Sorry I'm not much help.

We're in OKC (big city) so I'm hoping someone has some exotic ideas like good low carb Asian or Indian ideas?

we love Mexican, I usually get a chicken dish smothered with cheese and peppers. then just don't eat the beans, rice, or tortilla chips. if temptations like a basket of chips or bread on the table are too difficult to say no to then don't do that.

Broiled fish, a salad and veggies. Some restaurants will do a meditteranean style with sauteed tomatoes peppers and onions on the fish. Or I get a steak. One place we go has some nice chicken dishes too.

Asian, I usually get a shrimp and veggie dish, but I have no idea about the sauces. You can usually get them steamed.

Ended up doing the grilled chicken and avocado Caesar salad at a local Mexican place with a few small corn (street) tacos on the side. I was wanting maybe Indian but everything on their online menu looked so carby.

Curry shouldn't be too carby depending on how it's made just get it without rice.

Yeah, we actually ended up getting Thai food on Friday. I got the garlic pepper chicken and substituted extra steamed veggies for the rice.

I wish I had seen this earlier!!! I love the Hibachi Supreme Buffet off of 240. It is awesome, $10-$12 per person. And the hibatchi section is free with the price. I always get a huge plate. I also LOVELOVELOVE their duck thighs... And I always have a few pieces of sushi. That's my fave low carb place in OKC....

Edited to add - plus I can get everything I want while my guy loads up on Dim Sum! LOL

I think Western is the exit. Whatever one is after Penn. It's on the service road and has a weird exit/twist to get there!

I'm partial to BBQ places (I get smoked meat, avoid all sauces, and get a few slices of sweet and spicy pickles on the side as a treat). For Asian, I love sashimi, but not everyone is into raw fish. An even fancier option is an Argentinian Steakhouse. They have all kinds of meat! If you two are into wine, a romantic wine bar will have fancy cold cuts and cheese plates, you can get that with a small glass of red wine or even better, a wine spritzer. Some fancy burger places have bun free options, you can get yours loaded with cheese, egg, avocado, and skip the french fries. A lot of South American cuisines, such as Peruvian and Colombian, are very keto friendly, flap steak with chimichurri sauce is amazing, and you can order chicharones - pork belly cooked in lard, a.k.a. crispy bits of heaven. Middle eastern restaurants have various kebabs, you can order those on a bed of salad. Pro tip: if you go to a middle eastern food place, see if they have mint or apple tea, just make sure to ask for no sugar. That stuff is delicious. And lastly, if your hubby wants to go to a place and you're not sure what's there, check the online menu, call them if needed, and substitute hard. Also if you're not sure if the place you're going to is keto friendly (or if you know it's not) eat before you go. There were many times I sat with my friends in a pizza parlor eating a small antipasta salad and drinking a diet coke while they scarfed away pizza, garlic bread and tiramisu. Hope you have a wonderful time at your dinner!

I'm thinking of making Tacos for the family where I will forgo the shells. Not overly original, but still good.

A nice alternative to rice is taking cauliflower mixing it in a food processor until it gets a "rice" like texture.

I tend to do taco meat and make many taco salad variations!

Buttery garlic shrimp or scallops, or salmon fillet, plus the usual veggies - ask for no carrots please. Italian antipasti plate, charcuterie.
