Hi, so glad you started this group again. I started my journey on 5/22 weighing 224. I am 46 and 4"11'. My current weight is now 182.5. My goal is to get down to about 140.0

I'm Barbara. I started Nov 7th. On my bathroom scales, my starting weight was 217 (on doctor's scales, it was 211, but I figure I'll stick with my bathroom scales for consistency). My goal is to lose 50 pounds, lower my blood pressure and avoid heart disease down the road.
I've been doing yoga and bowflex on alternate days, and walking most days. As of this morning, I'm down 7lbs; I'd like to lose an even 10 lbs by the time the Christmas holidays start.0 -
Hello again. I started my journey in July of this year. I made small changes to my diet by adding fruits and veggies instead of restricting myself from the things I enjoyed. In the past I had always succumbed to my desire for poor food choices when I knew I was trying to limit them, so I attempted a different approach by focusing on what I needed to add. This works well for me. I switched fully over to 80/20 clean eating about three weeks ago and I'm loving it. Had lost about 17lbs total, but then I got a new scale...which had a 6lbs difference...heavier of course. *sigh* so here I am now, 3lbs from my original 17lbs loss. I've begun a strength training program this week along with approximately 3 days of cardio exercise. I'm loving it, so far, and I'm not ever hungry.
Hello and good luck everyone!0 -
Hi, everyone! I'm Sarah! I've lost 20 pounds so far and would like to lose 50-80 more. I'm 42, a teacher and writer, and I have four beautiful beagles.
I joined MFP in August 2012 and after a hefty hiatus, started up again in August 2015. My main goals are to be healthy and happy and to live a longer, more active life!
Happy to accept friend requests!0 -
Hi I am Krishna. 5' 7 1/2". I started logging again on November 1. Starting weight 218. Right now I am 210-211. I hope to reach 160 at least by the end of next year. I have pcos diabetes and insulin resistance. I need to make myself healthy.0

Hi everyone! I'm Loren and I'm down about 55 pounds with another 55 to go. For me, weight loss is most dependent on what I'm eating, although I don't actually log calories. I do exercise several times a week, but this is more so that I can be fit and not just so I can lose weight. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!0

Hi everyone. I'm starting my journey now, before Thanksgiving tomorrow. I've been through this a few times and just posted that I was looking for an accountability partner but I think this group will be great. I am 5'2" with a starting weight of 180 and would like to lose 50 lbs. Not even sure if that is realistic to do in a year.0
-
Hi! I am Morgan. 5'8 and my starting weight is 221. I have lost 90lbs before and gained a lot back. I just started back a month ago and started on MFP 2 weeks ago. I am down a little over 8lbs even though MFP has the wrong starting weight so it shows less. I have 68lbs to go to get to my goal weight but 53 lbs to the weight I am happy at. All I have done so far is portion control0

Hi, I'm Jill, I'm 51 Married with 3 children and 3 grandchildren (My Bumbles). I live in the NE of Scotland. I'm 200lbs and would like to lose around 50 as my son is getting married in 2 years and I would like to look nice. I would really like a 'buddy' to encourage me and be encouraged. My first goal is to start some form of exercise.0

I'm KC. I'm 29, married with 2 kids. Started in October after our 11th anniversary. Our kids did a triathlon in Sept, and we decided we want to be better examples and set a goal for running in a 5k around our 12th anniversary. I'm 5'1" and started at 213lbs. So far just calorie counting. I'm working through my 'excuses' about exercising..lol0

I started on October 15th at 184.6. My goal is to loose 60 pounds to put me at 125. So far I've lost 16 pounds. I aiming to loose 1% per week so that will be sometime around June for me to be at my goal weight. I've been walking Monday-Friday and doing some simple exercises at home. I don't usually exercise on the weekends, I probably should but just haven't yet.0

My name is Cheryl. I just started on my fitness pal. I am hoping to lose 120 lbs. I now weigh 260. I could really use the support.0

Hi there,
My name is Meaghan and I found the 50+ pounds to lose groups so inspiring that I re-created it when it vanished. The awesome people on MFP have been such motivators for me.
I've dieted and exercised and done some crazy things to my body over the years trying to be thin with varying degrees of success. I've finally taken a healthy approach and started listening to my body, not getting obsessed, and doing the basic recipe for weight loss: burning more calories than I'm consuming.
I have always liked exercise but my eating has been all over the place, and so tracking everything has really changed the game for me. Also dropping labels like "good" and "bad" for food, and trying to eat with intention and moderation. It's all a work in progress, but it feels right.
I'm down about 32 pounds, and have another 28 to lose. More likely than not I'll reassess at that point to see if I want to drop another 10-15.
Some personal stuff - I own a cocktail catering/consulting company (we make fancy boozy drinks for people and help restaurants revamp menus/train staff etc), I love music and writing, nature my savior, and I am a big animal lover.
I'm taking this whole thing one day at a time, and realizing it's a slow and steady process. Really nice to meet all of you!0 -
Sorry - should have spotted this thread first. I am Ruthann - 48 yrs old with 3 kids. I'm a busy working mom, but finally found some time to take care of myself. Have currently lost 30 lbs since July and hope to lose another 55 or so. My health has already improved with just the 30lbs. I feel much better and not as tired, crabby or moody. The weight loss has slowed a bit, but I'm not discouraged. If it takes me awhile to get there - I will do it! Looking forward to supporting you all and getting some support as well.0

I have battled with my weight my entire adult life. I am 32 and weigh 230. I have done weight watchers and was successful before I had kids. My kids are 5, 3, and 4 months and I gained weight with each pregnancy and never lost it. I just joined this week. I am hoping to stay motivated! I joined the gym and exercise 3-4 times a week.0

Your kids are about the same distance apart as mine. They are now 17, 15 and 13 tomorrow! Hang in there. It's hard to find the time, but make sure you do take some time for yourself. Keep going to that gym!

Hi everyone! I tried a couple times with MFP but only in July of this year did I take my health/fitness (and this app) more seriously to try and lose weight. Like others, I've struggled with weight my whole life and in college lost over 50lbs but failed at maintaining it and gained it all back over the years plus some. In July I weighed in at the heaviest I've ever been in my life. I freaked out and decided to do something about it. Since July I'm very close to a 30lb loss and moving onto the next 40+ lbs I need to take off. My goal is to lose weight but most importantly learn to properly maintain my weight loss and remain active. I want to change my eating habits completely so that healthy eating is automatic versus an afterthought. Best of luck to all!0

Hi everyone, My name is Kristin. I just joined MFP this week in the hopes of finding people who were walking the same path ... or at least a similar one. In the past month, I turned 40 *and* hit my highest lifetime weight-- kind of a double whammy. It was a wake-up call and no more excuses for me. As of today, I've got about 60'ish lbs. to lose, though, I'm focusing on small increments.0

I'm Deb and have been fighting the good fight since March 2015. Started at 264, down 40+ lbs and hovering in the 220's right now. My ultimate goal would be to get down to 132..... 1/2 my starting weight. Too far away to focus on right now. My short term goals are to get into onederland and get off HBP meds!!0

Hi,
I'm Carl. Been a yo-yo dieter for years. Lost some weight some years ago, but since stopping various sports/exercise (due to injury, operation and rehabilitation), I put weight on.
I started my most recent (and last!) weightloss journey around a month ago. I'd not stepped on any scales for over 2 years. I used a set of scales at the gym (having recently got back into powerlifting) and saw that I was off the scale - which went to 20st. So, I weighed on a friend's scales and they showed 20st 10lbs. Even that didn't spur me into action. Around a week later, I went to a local fairground with my girlfriend and our son. She took a photo of me, on a ride with him (he's 14 months old and amazing). The photo was horrible. I look like some kind of honey monster and I wasn't happy with how I've allowed myself to convince myself that, because I can move heavy weights in the gym, I am allowed to carry a significant amount of bodyfat. My girlfriend says she doesn't see me like that, which is nice of her. But, I don't want to be so overweight that I can't do things with my son.
So, taking 20st 10lb as my starting weight, I decided that I want to lose a good chunk of, er, chunk. I'm taking it bit by bit and focusing on smaller goals - initially, for my weight to start with a 'teen'. Then to aim for half stone losses and to celebrate being in a new 'stone' bracket, as well as celebrating losing entire stones.
So far, so good. As I said, start weight: 20st 10lb (290lb), current weight (at my most recent weigh in - last Friday) 19st 8lb (274lb), so a loss of 16lb (or, 1st 2lb).
I've made a significant change to my eating habits. I've stopped eating fast-food breakfasts (and fast-food in general), I've stopped snacking, I've stopped snacking on rubbish food - biscuits were a particular downfall, I've stopped drinking calorific drinks - sachets of latte/hot chocolate at ~100kcal per drink.
My usual diet during the day (at work) is...
Breakfast - 2 eggs on a thin bagel, Vitamin supplement
Lunch - soup (home made, if possible), satsuma, apple
PM snack - protein supplement (MyProtein Impact Diet Whey, 1 scoop, with water)
Drinks - 2 or 3 black coffees - no sugar, water
Then for dinner, I'm having whatever the family have - but, I make sure that I measure and account for everything and that I'm within my calorie allowance and also that I'm there or thereabouts with my macro split.
I also batch make some small portions of sugar-free jelly (orange, with mandarin segments is a favourite).
My long-term aim is to get to around 14st - so quite a lot to lose, from 290 to 196lbs. But, I'll be happier once I get to around 16st - 224lbs.0 -

Hi everyone
My name is Helen & I'm from Wales, UK.
I've had a MFP account for ages but not used it much until now!
My weight loss ultimate target is to lose 80lbs, at the moment I'm 238lbs which is the heaviest I've ever been!
Over the last year I've gained 28lb through lack of exercise as I have arthritis which has worsened, reducing my mobility. Thankfully my joints are now stable & I'm back to the gym & slowly finding my weight loss mojo again!
Looking forward to getting to know you all & sharing the weight loss journey x0 -
Hi there. I'm Ben.
I started my journey at over 340lbs at the start of May this year. It's now November 27th and I'm down to 286lbs. I've also signed up with some friends to a group race thing which involves running 20 Miles and 200 obstacles. I'm starting running practice for it tommorow! So yeah I'm on a 100lb and over journey but I'm already half way there and I'm setting myself these targets to hit.
I've also come off my anti depression medication that I had been on for over 6 years and I do not feel down hardly at all anymore.0 -
My name is Beth, and I am a mother of 2 in Canberra, Australia. I am having a second go at losing the weight, the first time was derailed by family issues. I have a huge amount to lose, but I get discouraged by that so have split it down to 10kg mini goals. I hope to hit my first goal sometime in the next fortnight.
SW 135.6kg (298lb)
CW 125.8kg (277lb)
GW 55kg (121lb)0 -
Hi everyone! I'm Jules. I have been on an up and down journey. I have lost close to 15 pounds or close to 6 kg. I still have a lot to get rid of and want to take my time. I am adjusting many things in my life right now and making sure I do it the proper way. Feel free to send me friend request letting me know you are from this group.
Have a nice day, morning or evening wherever you may be at this moment!
Cheers!0 -
Hi, I'm Cheryl. I started my weight loss journey most recently on 10/6/15. I've gotten off to a good start but still have 58lbs to get to my ideal weight. I know I can do it but also know it will be a challenge. Looking forward sharing my challenges and ways to overcome them, hope to hear some of yours as well.0

I gained weight with very baby and then never got it off. Hubby foiled my attempts and I became his eating partner. I started in August with exactly 100 lbs to lose. I am down 38.8 lbs now. I have 1.3 lbs to lose to get into the one hundreds. I'm hoping next week's thursday weigh-in I'm down to 199.9 or below. I moved 6 yrs. ago way up north to hibernate all winter (8 months). Then 4 yrs. ago I got diagnosed with Cancer. Been a long haul but I'm finally healthy and healed enough to take it all off. I want to lose 60 lbs by my 60th birthday in Feb.. I'm living away from my hubby so he won't see me till my birthday. I just couldn't do -50+ weather, 60 mph winds and several ft. of snow this winter. My disabled son said he could use help this winter so I moved in with him. My husband can't foil my weight loss so I have 5 months before I move back to take it off. Hopefully when I move back home he will be more supportive.0

Hi, My name is Bernadette. I'm half way to my goal weight. Down 58, 57 to go. The first twenty pounds took 2 years to accomplish, I didn't get serious about changing my eating habits until April. Since then I've lost 38 lbs. It's taking a while, but I'm hoping to adopt eating habits that will last for the rest of my life and not just while I'm losing weight. I'm tired of losing and gaining over and over again.0

My name is Grace. I had originally lost over 55lbs and then life took the breath right out of me and I was left being unable to do any exercise for over 1 year straight (wasn't even allowed to walk at the grocery store to get groceries) and anyways ended up gaining over 60 lbs back...it has definitely been a very trying time and I love the quote at the top of this page. As I look back at the pictures from 1 year ago I look on them with envy now, I want to get back down, and I am motivated to do it. Last time I lost my weight was via weight watchers, and I do not have the funds to continue doing that so I thought I would try to do MFP again. I have currently lost 4 lbs from my all time high weight. My goal: to get down to a healthy weight and to love myself every step of the way there; I want to be able to take pictures with friends and love the photo and not just sit there and cry when I see them.
My thing to remember: I have an amazing body, and I want to unlock it's potential again. My body is not to blame for it's current state, and trying to blame anything will not help. I just need to take it one day at a time, and when I fall down, pick myself and start over immediately (not the next day or week).0
