So hungry now, how do people do it.

So I've dropped my calories from 1900 a day to 1550 a day. 70% fat, 24% protein and 5% carbs. Not eating any artificial stuff, drinking water, blah blah. You'd think I'd be losing a bit more weight (more than 22lbs in 8 months). I'm not. I weigh exactly the same as I did 3 weeks ago. And I'm so hungry all the time now. I've gone from a manageable amount of food, able to sustain it long term to not enough and really feeling deprived and on a diet. I wish I understood those of you who "can't eat enough".

How long have you been 1550 cals and how much sugar are you getting? I had to cut all sugar to stop hunger. 1550 is plenty on cals to be loosing weight on the macros ur set at so I would think ur getting extra cals that u r not aware of from some where, do you weigh everything? There's more veterans here that will be able to help you better than I but right off hand that's what I would suggest good luck!!

It depends on the day for me.... Somedays I can go hours with no thoughts of food and others I stay hungry. I seem to have less hungry days than when I started however. I just eat more on hungry days and try to find balance throughout the week.

It would help pinpoint any issues if you'd open your diary

Didn't you record a 2.8 kg loss over the last 4 days?

I tend to feel hungry on 1500 calories a day too - it depends. I also don't understand folk who can't force it down - I'd be at goal weight by now if I couldn't eat 1500 calories! What I tend to do is eat at about 1800 calories, but then fast one day a week. That has kept my losses going even though I'm eating at roughly maintenance.

Yeah. I've always had a healthy appetite, too. This WOE made it easier to cut calories, as the hunger doesn't become HANGRY, and is manageable now. But I get hungry. I could eat ALL DAY. I just don't.

This is interesting, because some folks believe you should eat when you are hungry. The rationale is it's your body's way of telling you it needs food.

My thought on it is a bit different. I think I don't need to feed the hunger beast when it screams. It's ok to be hungry during the day or in the evening. I used to be a big snacker to fill that beast. I'm also a stress eater and snacking wasn't driven by real hunger, but anxiety.

Now, I specifically only eat 3 times a day at routine times. I make sure those meals count. (ideally at least 400 to 600 cals). If I feel hungry at 10:30am, after eating a 500 calorie breakfast at 6:30am. I know I won't die from hunger, if I continue to drink tea, coffee, or water until my next meal at noon. Maybe the next morning, I will add a slice of bacon instead to see if that works better to hold me over. (test, repeat) In any event, I make a point to wait it out. As long as the hunger beast doesn't happen ALL the time with that routine. I think I found a good balance of cals/fats to make it livable.

You dropped 350 cals out of your day. Maybe that was too much for your TDEE. Continue to experiment with eliminating some foods, adding in others where you can find a happy point of where you are not constantly hungry, "hangry', but were can live with a certain empty feeling during periods of the day, knowing that your next meal is on it's way. You should feel satisfied after eating a meal, that way you are not hungry ALL the time. If you don't feel full after eating the meal, then it wasn't enough calories or fats. BTW, give yourself a lot of credit 22 pounds in 8 months is good. I prefer to be in the "able to sustain it" camp. It's OK if it's slow, At least I'm not driving myself nuts (and everyone else) in the process.

I am often hungry, too, but that may be because I use Intermittent Fasting. I just deal with the hunger, and eat during my time window (usually i do 18:6). I also crave food for other reasons, too, though, and it's still hard to distinguish cravings from hunger. I had such horrible eating patterns for so long, it's no surprise that it's taking some time to relearn my body.
Do you think it's real hunger (in which case, my go to is eggs)? Or food cravings, which can be emotionally driven?
Good luck figuring it all out, and keep working at this. You are worth it!!!

I'm definitely not one of those "can't eat enough" types. I pretty much always eat pretty close to the calories I set in MFP, sometimes a little over. One of the great things about keto is that I'm not starving by the time lunchtime comes around. I usually eat breakfast between 6-6:30 am. When I was on IIFYM, I'd be hungry around 9! But these days, I don't eat lunch until around 12:30. Today is a great example of not being "hangry". Of all things to happen, I didn't bring my lunch AND I forgot my wallet at home. Since breakfast, I've only had 3/4 of an Atkins bar I had leftover from yesterday and a couple of sugar free butterscotch candies. But I feel like I'll be ok until dinner. My breakfast today was 80% fat, and I feel like that played a big part in why I'm not starving right now with 3 hrs left of work. One of the lovely benefits of eating high fat. Gotta love keto.

I'm having problems with "is it a craving or true hunger", I'm leaning toward a craving or perhaps habit. I have always had something sweet after dinner, I think it's become an ingrained habit. I could be stuffed full and i still need to have that sweet fix..

That's what I thought too. It may be a yo-yo up down thing??

I've turned off the newsfeed weight loss notification thing, because it looks like I'm losing a lot every week, when in reality i keep gaining and losing the same 2-3kgs

I've been doing 1550 for about a month now. I did drop it down gradually, not all at once. I'm not getting any extra calories or sugar, I pretty much only get a few carbs from zucchini, broccoli etc. I've been counting calories for years, and doing Keto specifically for about 2 years so I would consider myself a "veteran", and I know there's nothing wrong with what I'm eating. I do weigh everything and I only eat foods where I can be sure of the calorie/macro content. I don't eat out, or have any sneaky sauces or anything. My fitbit says my TDEE is 2100 cals, which is pretty right. I do IF (eat between 12:30 and 8pm) but I've been doing that for most of the year, so I'm only having lunch and dinner, and a small snack in the evening. I'm just finding that it is alot harder now than it was at 1800 to 1900.

I am not going to open my diary at this point because a) I know there's no issues with my food tracking and b)last time I did that I got picked to pieces for too much salt, not enough salt, not enough water (I don't track water, I drink 3 x 600ml bottles a day plus 2 coffees), "omg you ate half an atkins bar 3 weeks ago" etc.

I'm sorry things have been frustrating. :( I'm at 1350 (though I do eat back half or so of my exercise calories on days I actually exercise) and would love to eat more but I don't think my TDEE is all that high.

I've never been a "can't eat enough" person either. FWIW before I started keto 5 weeks ago, I was on a moderately low carb diet and was always hungry and had a lot of cravings for sweets. Since then, I do deal with hunger at times but it's not as intense/easier to ignore. And my cravings have been a lot milder. I wish I could eat more and still lose weight but even at 1350 I really haven't lost in almost a month. So I'm no help, just commiseration and I hope you're able to hit on something that leads to both satiety and weight loss.
