High fat without tasting that way

How are you modifying meals to add more fat?
I added 20ml cream to a protein shake and heated result in microwave. Was like a hot chocolate. Yum.
I tried adding cream to my scrambled eggs this morning and hated the sense of fat on my palette after the meal. I take fat off of meat because I do not like the flavour nor mouth feel. Prior to this WOE I would drag cream off dessert, if I ever was given any, as I dont like it, (yule log is an annual exception) so maybe I am odd.
I mostly eat meat & green leafy veg. To add fat, I sometimes choose salmon or herring as naturally higher in fat. I love a little olive oil on salads. I cook with coconut oil. I add philadelphia cream cheese, greek yoghurt, boccocini, cottage or feta cheese into meals to increase fat content. I also add nuts and seeds. I am still working on dropping protein content and increasing fat. I would love to hear your thoughts:

I put hwc in my scrambled eggs and omelettes (before cooking in butter)) and makes them delicious, imo. I've been known to put butter on top of cooked eggs, and meat too. I've also used homemade Alfredo sauce (hwc, butter, parmesan cheese, and season to taste) for an accompaniment to meat. I use hwc in my coffee too, instead of the nasty powder stuff I used to use. Using a little bit, throughout the day, has worked wonders for me! I attempted fat bombs when I started this woe, but didn't care for them. I made my own back then with cream cheese mixed with shredded sharp cheddar portioned into one oz. servings.
I was scared of fat in the beginning because of the brainwashing against it. But, I found that the true, Unhungry feeling comes from the addition of fat to our diets. I still can't bring myself to eat all of the fat on a steak because that part doesn't taste good to me either, though I crave the meat, and hwc now!0 -
Hwc? The translations in google include "hazardous waste combustor" and other things I wish I had not read - yikes!!
@Karlottap or someone else can you translate HWC for me please. Thanks!0 -

Here is one of my favorites:
As a quick side to dinner or lunch drain a can of sliced mushrooms (I squeeze the water out by hand). Saute in a medium pan with 2 to 3 tablespoons of butter (almost more like frying that sauteing). Use garlic powder and whatever light tasting herbs. Add 1 cup of Hazardous Waste Combustor and lots of ground pepper (lol Heavy Whipping Cream - see comment above @SamandaIndia ).
Throw on top of a hamburger patty or just eat it by itself and you have a lot of awesome tasking fat in about 5 minutes.
The pepper is essential.
It has over 100g of fat and less than 5 carbs.

Hwc is similar but not as high in fat as our double cream in the UK.0

Thanks for translations! Using double cream ( thanking M&S for having stores in NL), otherwise it would be dutch cream ie "slagroom". Will try above suggestions - thxs. Wonder what high fat no dairy people do- that would be difficult!0 -

That sounds really yummy!!! I love mushrooms!0 -

Coconut crème, I imagine. I'll find out after the 1st, as I am going on a no dairy, no caffeine two week detox.0 -

Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, nut oil....but I agree, keto without dairy would be tough for me!0 -
The only fat I can eat on a steak is the marble kind like on a rib eye. I always cut off the thick gristly rubber on other steaks0

Wahl ( Wahl's Protocol) suggests cutting the fat off of meat unless it is a high quality organic, grass fed/free range animal. Adding on quality butter or mct will have fewer possible toxins (or so the theory goes). Trimming the fat isn't bad according to her.0

That is great to hear. Feared I may have been "swearing in church" by mentioning not enjoying fat on meat. I made a green chicken curry tonight with coconut cream and coconut oil. Tasty. Will try Ketold727's mushrooms tomorrow.
Good luck to Lillith32 with the detox. My first caffeine in 2.5 mths was christmas and boxing day 5 dark chocolate coffee beans. Had trouble sleeping but yummy and worth it. Look forward to hearing how you go.0 -

I think no dairy people still usually use butter or ghee if butter is an issue.
I have to advocate for adding more butter (or ghee) and coconut oil or MCT if trying to add more fat. These provide unique fatty acids with great benefits and it's just my opinion, but I think a low carb or Keto diet would be incomplete without them.0 -
My favorite way to add fat is to toss non-starchy vegetables, like cauliflower and broccoli, with olive oil and seasonings, and roast them until they're caramelized. But I love the taste and texture of fat, including a dash of cream in my eggs.0

Ditto that. Roasted broccoli and cauliflower drizzled with olive oil, garlic and parmesan cheese is so yummy!
I sometimes substitute philly cream cheese in my scrambled eggs instead of cream, or just add both

Butter on everything lol and what????? No fat on meat?? That is like swearing in church! Lol. Good luck0

I have trouble with the fat sometimes, too. I remember HATING butter when I was a little kid (and I've always hated mayo). I do love bacon though, which helps, or brussels sprouts with bacon. And I've mentioned on here that I surprisingly lost my taste for coconut oil a few weeks after starting keto.
I do like HWC (had to laugh at the translation above) and will put 30-40 ml in both my breakfast and lunch coffees. I tried to like fat bombs and have been having a hard time stomaching them, but I do like cream cheese clouds. Veggies roasted or fried with olive oil or coconut oil are both good.0 -
Cream cheese clouds? Please god, don't let this be a euphomism. Aside from cream cheese anything else in these?? Off now to fry bacon and add brussel sprouts , plus those yummy sounding mushrooms.0

Catching back up on the thread! Lol! Sorry, I forget about using these LCHF "words" that everyone doesn't know right away!0

Butter, butter and more butter. I fry everything in butter from my eggs to my steaks. I eat the fat off of steaks and pork chops if it's nice and crispy. Yummmmm! I put butter in my coffee, on top of steaks(I usually make a blue cheese butter) and in my veggies. I may have a butter addiction. And cheese, I love cheese and make sure I have some daily. And heavy cream, love heavy cream. And nice crispy chicken skin off of a rotisserie chicken. And fat bombs but can only handle one or two of those at a time. I don't think that there is anything about this WOE I don't enjoy. The only time I have had an issue with fat is feeling like I put on too much Chapstick after drinking my BPC. But it's so yummy I can over look that and my lips are nice and moisturized.0

Thanks for the recipe. Sounds easy and fun. I will try those.0 -
Thanks all. I think I needed to get past my old habits of adding the minimal amount of oil or butter that would help transfer the heat to what is being cooked. Coconut oil, french extra virgin olive oil and coconut cream are my new go to friends.
I had hard cheese yesterday for the first time in months. Today my face is dry n very flakey. Ugly! Further experiments required but I will stick with the non dairy options for a while. Really appreciate those being included here.0 -

Hard cheese is high in casein, which is a known troublesome protein, particularly from the typical dairy cows (it has to do with a mutation in the "new world" cows that changes the casein protein). You might be able to tolerate goat or sheep hard cheese, and you might be able to tolerate soft and whey based cheeses, such as cream cheese, marscapone, and ricotta, when you decide to experiment again.0 -

Thanks. Interesting tip. Will play with a soft goats cheese etc when I feel up for the potential consequences. Kind of glad no one saw me today.0 -
Just tried a high fat hot chocolate as suggested on a post. Yum! Protein powder, coconut cream, coconut oil, "HWC" or double cream zapped with hot water. Feel full n energized. I skipped the butter as was feeling brave enough adding 3 fats in!0
-
@SamandaIndia ; I'm curious to try coconut cream. Do you just let the can sit then skim the cream off the top?0
-
@SamandaIndia ..please share the recipe for the hot chocolate. I have been using tea for the bulletproof drink and need to change it up!
Thanks,
Connie0 -
Hot chocolate
25g protein powder- the original poster aternates between quest chocolate and peanut butter. Me, I used 12g gettrim protein powder and 5g dark chocolate as that protein powder is too sweet imo.
- 15g butter (I did not use this, will try next time)
-15g coconut oil
-15g thickened cream, double cream or HWC
-15g coconut cream
Fill the cup 1/4 the way up with boiled kettle water and blend using a hand immersion blender, then fill to the top with the rest of the hot water. A filling creamy cup of deliciousness! The original poster (who I will find and credit when I get time) says she uses a 500ml soup mug to make it for breakfast and it keeps her full until lunch. Thus I made about 500ml worth.
@ChoiceNotChance
You can buy coconut oil, coconut milk and coconut cream all seperately. In NL they sometimes are in small cartons whereas in Australia they tend to be sold in tins.
