I'd like to suggest that there be multiple threads for this challenge - maybe one per week of the year? Otherwise it's going to get really unwieldy and hard to follow.0

Hi all. I got my fitbit on Christmas as well. I have been logging on MFP for almost a year now. I have lost 47#, so far. Looking to lose maybe 10# more...
Name: Casey
Starting Weight: 155 (current, when I started MFP back in Jan 2015, I was 202#)
Goal weight: 145
Sleep: 7 hrs
Weekly or daily steps: My current goal is set to 10k, but I have been averaging about 16k. Last week I did 114,057 in steps!
Calories burned: Looks like I burn in the range of 2000 calories, give or take depending on my walk
Weekly weight loss: I maintained this week, but will tell you I enjoyed NYE and NYD!
My new thing/tip in trying to up my daily steps is to take the long way to the cafeteria at work. I walk way out of my way to get there and try to get 5k steps in before I even leave work and go home to walk the pups and get in my 3.5-4k walk everyday.
Can't wait to get to know everyone!0 -

I'm in if I can find my old fitbit. But I have a stupid question. Do you subscribe somehow to this thread or do you just remember to look daily?
The only stupid questions are the ones not asked.
Look to the right of the thread title and click on the star. It will turn yellow to indicate you have successfully bookmarked the thread.
To reopen a bookmarked thread look for the bell, star, and gear near the top right of the page. Click the star and then click the thread you wish to reopen.
Cheers!0 -

And a good tidbit on how I got my stats--in the Fitbit Dashboard you can EXPORT your monthly/weekly data. I am a numbers nerd so I export into Excel, average it out, highlight the days where I beat my goals, and then make a goal for the following month. This month is to average over 30 days of solid activity per day (I averaged 23 last month).
To export--go to your Fitbit Dashboard (web browser)-->Settings-->Data Export. You can adjust the date parameters and decide how you want to export your details and what you want to export (body, activity, sleep, etc.) and what format you want to export in (CSV is my preferred because I can manipulate in Excel). For me I like it because it shows me my trends, where I need to focus on (distance and activity minutes are mine), and if I can increase my goals.0 -

I have the Aria. It measures your weight and body fat percentage, though that aspect should always be taken with a grain of salt since it's not as accurate as a DEXA scan. Then it syncs that to Fitbit and MFP for you so you never have to enter a weigh in manually again. I love it because when used with the website Trendweight it gives a great picture of how your body works/fluctuates. The Aria is not necessary, but it sure is a great gadget to have if you enjoy technology, data, and convenience.0 -

My son gave me one for Christmas. I had admitted to him that I'd gotten into the bad habit of not logging my weight if I didn't like the number I saw. The Aria has broken me of that because now I have to go in and deliberately delete the entry. Unfortunately, while it pretty much agrees with my old scale on how much I weigh, the Aria thinks my body fat percentage is higher than my practically antique (relatively) Tanita body fat scale did.
I second the endorsement of using Trendweight. It makes it so much easier to see how I'm doing. I even went back into my Fitbit account and put in some weight entries (not every day) from when I first started working on losing weight (which was almost 10 months before I got my first Fitbit) so Trendweight could graph it all. I love being able to see the whole graph (nearly 3 years worth now).0 -

Starting Weight: 158.6
Goal weight: 125
Sleep: 7.5 hrs (I've been averaging 7 hr 42 min!)
Weekly or daily steps: setting a goal of 15k daily
Calories burned: setting a goal of 2.3k daily
Weekly weight loss: lost 2.2 lbs this week
I've had my FitBit since Sunday, and I'm starting to get an idea of where I'm at and what goals to set. I generally have 10k steps in by lunch time, so I think a 15k daily goal will be easily attainable. I've exceeded that twice this week. I'm going to bed early, mostly because I'm doing more during the day and I'm finally tired at a reasonable time. It feels good getting a full night's sleep!0 -

[bHow Water Weight Works[/b]
An estimated 50 to 60 percent of our total body weight is water, and how much we retain fluctuates in response to our eating habits. For example, indulging in salty foods can trigger your cells to sop up water like a sponge, says Rebecca Lewis, R.D. for Hello Fresh. Similarly, a diet high in sugar can lead to higher-than-normal insulin levels in your blood, which can make your body retain sodium (translation: more Spongebob action). And when you carb it up (because pasta is delicious), for every gram of carbohydrate that your body stores to use for energy later (known as glycogen), it also stores three grams of water—which explains why you sometimes feel like the Michelin man post-pizza. Those fun facts also explain why going on a diet can cause the number on your scale to plummet during the first few weeks. You're essentially excreting the extra water your diet has been causing you to hold on to.(WH)0
