Lost four more pounds today. I gained ten over the holidays... But at least I'm back to a forty pound loss! And motivated! Just watched "My Diet is Better Than Your Diet" on my phone (ABC app). Interesting stuff.

Some of those trainers are nuts!! I can't stand that touchy-feely stuff. But the "Wild Diet" guy is pretty LCHF/Paleo. Butter coffee, lettuce wrapped burgers, yeah I can relate. And in the lead so far (but I'm only on episode two).

I don't have TV so I can't watch the episode until a week after it airs on this app, but I'm still excited to watch it. The cleanse diet that dropped a lot of weight in a cleanse and gained water weight back week two, lol. Duh! It's very interesting to see these diets putting against each other.

5 Diets: Superfoods (not too bad, at least it's lower in carbs), the No Diet (this guy is nuts, his main strategy seems to be get more sleep, but I bet it's low fat), the vegan diet (ha!), the momma diet - not really sure what the food choices are, seems to focus on exercise, and the "wild diet".

Anyone else watching? I'm yelling at my phone the whole time, lol.

I hadn't heard of this show but it sounds intriguing.
I guess we're all wild then, eh? ;) I'm pulling for that guy! Do they each have one person they're working with or multiple?

And good job on the 4 lbs down and the 40-lb loss overall; that's great!

They each have a trainer, but they can switch one time in the show. They pick the diet. It's really interesting. I guess it's on Thursday nights, but, like I mentioned, you can watch it online or mobile. The "Wild Diet" guy lost 22 pounds (I believe) in the first two episodes.

I do think it's kinda unfair to pit guys against girls, cause my hubby always loses faster than me, and so far the guys have won all the physical challenges I've watched, but it's still interesting.

The look of shock on the other trainers faces when he explained how he's been eating bacon burgers and ribeye steaks and then got weighed was priceless. Hahaha! Boom!

    Mmm, bacon burgers ... :)
And yeah, I think they should have maybe one man and one woman for each diet. Definitely an unfair comparison! (At least from what I've seen anecdotally.)

22 lbs in 2 weeks?? Wow. What was his start weight? I've been overjoyed to lose 17 lbs in 10 weeks (8 of that in the first 2 weeks).

Is that LCHF? I'll have to look for it. Edit: I looked him up. Looks like he dies limit carbs somewhat but only after dark. Can't really be in ketosis like that.

Further to the issue of weight loss for guys versus gals: Some of our more mature team members will remember the cartoon strip "Cathy." In one episode, Cathy goes off for a week long health spa visit: salads with lemon dressing, hiking, weight work, step classes, stationary cycle, the works. She rushes to her boyfriend's apartment as soon as she returns, to proudly announce that she lost !!!FIVE WHOLE POUNDS!!! only to hear that he lost seven pounds by giving up that second chocolate milkshake after dinner.

You can watch the four episodes so far at abc' website. Very entertaining.

I loved how on episode 2, all the people that didn't lose as much as the Wild Diet guy committed to increasing exercise as the game plan to lose more. They show everyone working harder and sweating and stuff and then go to the WD guy and he's leisurely walking in the park! Lol
I don't know how many carbs WD is limited to but it's definitely low carb. Able has lots of Keto guests on the podcast on a regular basis. I have no doubt the Wild Diet featured on the show is at Keto levels.

I watched it last night - spoiler alert

It reminds me of the Biggest Loser in that there still is a lot of focus on insane daily exercise, which is why these folks can drop 8 pounds in a week. This show does to it's credit, thankfully show actual foods and recipes that the contestants are eating (not just Subway advertisements disguised as 'diet' plans). I don't like the similar fat-shaming feel to the show, and the "you're so damaged (story), I can fix you" attributed to physical trainers, who are not psychologists. I like the fact that you can dump your trainer if it's not working for the contestant.

There's also a cLean diet - A little of non-fat everything, with plenty of what the trainer is suggesting are "good" grains - quinoa, etc., and lots of exercise. She didn't lose more than a pound this week. The contestant said she would find a new trainer if she doesn't lose more next week. That contestant seems to be a little "hangry" too (IMHO, LOL)

lol, I know that was hilarious! Except the "no diet" guy who decides he needs to buy purple sheets for his trainee to get more sleep!! Lol!!!

LOL. I was thinking of posting a new thread-
"Are my pink sheets sabotaging my weight 'loose' (sic)" Just to see what happens. HAHA.

I cannot stand the clean momma. Poor girl that thought she was a good choice. I was cringing for her! And them to basically blame her for the fact that her cook plan didn't work. Smh...glad she's gone!
Overall this show is terrible, but I'll be watching it....

Oh, I know. I can't imagine why she keeps her. Like I said. Several of the trainers are nuts!!!

One of the trainees drives me crazy too. I won't say who but he's huge crybaby! ;) Punching things? Grow up already. You've got a kid.

Sounds like it would be more interesting if they didn't muddle the whole concept of the show with ridiculous amounts of exercise & torture. There are definitely some BBC documentaries on youtube showing cause and effect of forcing particular diets on people (IF, Atkins, etc.).

Anyone else watch it last night? I'm totally hooked now. I like it a lot better than BL because they are incorporating working with people in their real life. I guess they are going to go trainer free in the next episodes.

    (Spoiler alert below)

    The players are:

Nutrient Timing - Rob and La'Tisha. Plan is 4 meals spread out over the day. Trainer suggested magnesium, vitamin D to help calcium absorb. I like this new trainer over clean Momma. La'Tisha is much happier too!

Superfood Swap - Dawn and Jasmine - I think she is the smallest contestant and has won several of the physical challenges. (no surprise). She has a great attitude.

Wildfood - Able and Kurt(47 years old and the oldest contestant) - He's doing great and losing weight like crazy but doesn't know how - Keto baby! His diet is Low sugar, low starch, low carb, fresh organic. (Yup, my favorite team)

Strong, safe and Sexy Plan - Jennifer and Taj - Gluten free plan. She's going through a divorce and dropped out of one of the challenges. Not really clear she will keep her trainer.
She told her contestant she can drink tequila, potato vodka, and rum, but with no straws, so you won't drink it as fast. LOL.

The No Diet plan - Jeff and Jay - This is another team I'm not sure is going to make it.

There were a couple of interesting suggestions that you don't hear on BL:
    - Shop the perimeter of the grocery store. The psychology of eye level shopping. Eye level is usually where the "bad" stuff is. Look higher and lower on the shelves. Hmmm.
-Fat is grass fed meat is better than the Fat in grain feed animals.
-Boiled sweet potatoes have a lot less carbs.

I haven't seen this week yet but after reading this posts, I went and watched them all. I think Jasmine is doing do good because of her positive attitude and putting in the work. I cannot stand the other two girls, I think they want a quick fix without putting in the effort.

The crybaby has so much anger, I think thats a whole other issue. I am concerned about them running a half marathon especially those that really aren't training.

I am hooked snd I am definitely rooting for the Wild team! :-)

Ooh! Thanks for the reminder! I forgot it aired last night! I live in the boonies and don't get any reception so I have to watch it on the app and they don't release it till a week after it airs. I know what I'll be doing tonight!

Oh man. That was great. That woman was ca-ra-zyy! (Clean living mama)

Quit it. I only get to watch them on Youtube and I haven't finished ep 4 yet.
I really like the Clean Living Mama, as a person, but she IS crazy. Just a tad. And Jay is bonkers. I get what he is trying to do, but you can eat on blue plates all you want. It's what you put on those plates, and not the color, that is actually important. SMH.

I agree the half-marathon is completely out of the reach of them all unless they are actually training. Hope there aren't any injuries or lasting ill-effects for them as a result of overtaxing themselves. $50,000 is a bit of money, but...not worth blowing joints over.

Well, I'm still betting on Kurt for the marathon because "fat burning" and endurance. Lol
I really hope he keeps blown by them away!
I bet there is some legal bullcrap that prevents them from using the word "ketones" on the show. Cuz I can't imagine that Able hasn't explained it to him.

Does it make me a bad sport that I was amused when the vegan coach was the first person fired? And the paleo guy is doing pretty awesome (even if not winning everything)?
