There is no need to manually log exercise on Fitbit as the device already is coming up with better calorie burn than you could get from database probably - except on Weights since HR-based calorie burn is inflated then.
If you mean you push the button and an Activity Record is created - that's not really logging it, that's just marking the time.
Read the FAQ - workout records are NOT synced to MFP.
If you want to inform MFP friends - make a wall post about the workout with more details than MFP would normally give you - but do NOT log it in MFP as exercise.0 -

Hi. I have had a Fitbit for a while but I'm not sure how to find my user id. I only use the app do I have to log in on my computer to find it. I usually look to add friends through my Facebook or email. I would love to add some of you that replied to this thread. Thanks for the help!0

Yes I get that feeling that I going to scratch the screen as well esp when I was using it on the treadmill and kept hitting the sides! Think I may wear it so the screen is on the other side of my wrist, hopefully the readings will still be ok!
Ive been doing the same exact thing with mine. Everytime I about freak out wiping it to see if it scratched. I ordered some screen protectors off amazon.0 -
My best friend bought me the Surge for Christmas and I LOVE IT! Just now found out that it was compatible with MyFitnessPal so needless to say I'm so stoked that I don't have to log on multiple sites now.0

I have been challenged by my 23 year old son to run a 5K with him on my 50th birthday in August so I will be working on dropping weight and completing the Couch to 5K program. I am already registered for a 5K on May 7th so I have 11 weeks to get through it.0 -
Hi! Newish to MFP and very new to my Surge. I am looking for help deciphering the number discrepancy between what MFP says I have used/burned and the much larger amount that Surge says I burn and wants me to eat. I have been slowly losing (my goal is .5 pounds a week, though my ultimate goal is learning how to eat to maintain.) following MFP and if I ate what Surge says to, I would be gaining.
I have also found that the calories out don't match up with fitness equipment. As an example: 1 hour on the treadmill at an incline of 13 gave me covering 2.5 miles and burning 440 calories while the Surge said I only walked .6 miles and burned 219. I am using auto set stride and do take longer steps walking on the treadmill but that is huge discrepancy.
I am thinking there is a learning curve here to get used to balancing MFP and Surge but I don't want to fall backwards!
