Congratulations @samlovesthesnow that's an excellent achievement.
Excellent weight loss too @fitfor30th how do you find adapting to the increased protein in your diet?
My status so far: lost 4 pounds (nearly all Christmas weight), down to 140.6 as of yesterday.
Exercise 815 minutes so far this month, a mix of badminton, walks/jog & gym.
I've un-synced my fitbit, as I don't always wear it and it feels a little too over controlling logging on the fitbit & MFP.
I don't think 3500 net calories is achievable per week but will work to ensure I've some net calories every week.
Overall a good sustainable start to the year and certainly my jeans don't feel as tight.0 -
A aargh, protein I think is making me constipated sorry tmi, I went for an interview on Friday and don't get it, and since then I have consumed lots of peanut m and ms and chocolate chip cookies . Still did lots of exercise though so hopefully I can save January tomorrow! As an excuse, apparently this is the crappest Monday for the world, January blues....0
-
Congrats Sam on the new low weight!
Way to go Jools getting that holiday weight off fast! Sorry to hear the interview didn't go your way. Those peanut butter m&ms are dangerous! I hope the end of January gets better and less than 2 weeks to February for a fresh start.
Great job to Claire on the loss and awesome exercise minutes. I have a vivofit (Garmin equivalent of fitbit) and unsynced it from MFP pretty early after getting it too. I just didn't trust what it was logging and when vs. knowing exactly where extra calories were coming from or not double counting additions if I'm the only one updating MFP. Glad you're feeling results in your clothes; that's always the fun part for me.
Waiting until Thursday for my weigh in, but a little worried I did too much snacking this weekend and wiped out some progress based on scale this morning. Hopefully lots of water and good workouts the next couple days will get me back on track to register under 160 on Thursday (continue target loss of 1lb/week).
On the exercise 270/1200. I'm always good early in the week and then it falls apart. Gotta keep going.0 -
Missed my Cardio Boxing class before I left because my hairdresser was able to squeeze me in before I went to Vegas/Seattle and although I did TONS of walking and it's quite the workout trying on a gazillion dresses I'm only counting the actively working out minutes and I had 5-20 minute sessions while on Vacay so I'm now at...
525/1500
this means today and for the next 12 days I will need to work out 75 minutes each day...it's do able so I'm going to Go for it and all I'm gonna remember is that I found a dress that fits me PERFECTLY right now...I'd rather have to take it in or at the very least cinch in the corset back by the time of the wedding so here's to my NEW incentive!0 -
Ok just caught up on what I missed while I was gone...sorry it's so hard to maintain some sort of consistency when traveling because everything is jumbled and go-go-go!
@CostaRica120 I hope you are having a fabulous time on your honeymoon and I'm sure a LOT of that weight will fall right off of ya!
@samlovesthesnow WTG!
@fitfor30th hope the protein is balancing out and if you didn't get the job it just means something better is coming for you! I LOVE anything peanut butter so I totally get that! At least you worked it off and I hope the rest of your week is getting better!
@brisingr86 I hear ya on waiting to get on the scale! I don't want to do it this week because I'm so afraid what it's gonna say after this past week of eating everything! Not to mention the empty calories in all the martini's I consumed in Las Vegas! I'll do my best to keep at it throughout the week with you! "JUST KEEP GOING!"0 -
625/1500 did a long workout tonight...it was FABULOUS!0

Week 3, January 21: 161.8 +1.0
Exercise: 330/1200
So...weekend snacking plus high sodium and late night snacking (including too many peanut butter M&Ms) did not make the scale happy. I'm hoping since I was pretty high on the sodium that I can be down 3 lbs next week to still meet my goal of under 159 (without doing something unhealthy). I've been really struggling lately between feeling like the wedding is just around the corner (little over 6 months away) and I really need to buckle down and get in the workouts and be good for my diet, but at the same time I'm constantly stressed with work and then wedding stuff and all the house stuff I should be taking care of. There are times I really want to just throw my hands up and say forget the wedding, we'll just do courthouse and be married. Thanks for listening. Just have to keep moving forward...0 -
Had a baaaaaaaaaaaad week. Reckon I can pull it back together next week, starting Monday. I'm realy no good at getting back on the wagon over the weekend so realistically it will be Monday. Starting to panic as it is only 4 months to the wedding, plus I realised everyone invited is skinny and will be wearing bikinis! Time to get my *kitten* in gear.0
-
@brisingr86 Sounds like you need to find a distressing outlet...don't throw those hands up, you have the right attitude--keep moving forward, it will all work out in the end. BREATHE and as always vent away that's part of the reason you created this group and it helps us all to know we aren't alone in our stress! Huggles!
@fitfor30th I hear ya on the weekend thing...I REALLY have to focus on sticking to plan when it comes to weekends! I think you can do it, I have just under 8 months to go and I'm also thinking it's gonna get here WAY quicker than I want it to! AAHHHH!!
Get those gear shifters a crankin' ladies!
Got 60 minutes in last night so still a ways behind but making forward progress...

Doing my best, super sore! Trying not to sabotage myself...0 -
Great job Marla Jean and Jools on the workouts.
ARGGHH for me. I got completely out of control on diet this weekend (did some baking during the snow storm on the US east coast) and no workouts to balance. Going to try a variation of carb cycling just to give myself some structure to get back on track. For some reason, it seems to help me push/control myself more. Not sure how to get through to myself to up the workouts. I'm getting to points where there's no excuse and I just can't get myself ready or to the gym.0 -
Weekend and this mornings workout...Hoping to get in another 45 minutes tonight and at least 60 in am...gonna attempt another week of double duty workouts to meet my goal!
960/15000 -
Just so I don't forget: 350/12000
-
Ok, I'm back on track, yesterday and today good. Going try and limit weekend sabotage to one day this weekend!0
-
Due to our hurricane wind storm last night, I was up tons and had horribly broken sleep which of course resulted in me not getting up this morning to workout but I did workout last night and I have a Cardio Boxing class tonight...I'm gonna be cutting it really close for reaching my goal!

Got this article in email today and seemed to be a pretty common challenge for this group so thought I'd share: http://www.precisionnutrition.com/weekend-overeating
Not sure how much is helpful vs standard messages, but still kind of an interesting read.0 -

I think I might just make my goal if I can KEEP at it for the next 4 days!0 -
370/1200
Not sure if I'll make any of my goals for this month, but doing ok for this week. I'll just have to try to keep it going into February. One day at a time. I made poor choices and it was reflected on the scale and in my exercise minutes. I have to own that and work to make better ones.0 -

Thank you for sharing this! I really enjoyed reading it. It was a good message/reminder for perspective!0 -

I found this really interesting. I could relate to a lot of it. I think weekend binges have been a stepping stone for me away from eating crappy all week, but I think now is the time to try and stop it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think last week I flipped out because I felt a bit ill, but also because the coach I signed up for this month was demonising even my protein bar when everything else was 'clean eating'. I have about 20lbs to go until goal weight and I reckon I should switch to more calls, 1600 maybe, and a goal of losing 1lb a week as opposed to two, and trying to be more even with my eating. Wish me luck!

YIKES! So, wrong direction on the scale this month, but given I've lost 3lbs since Monday, it could certainly have been worse. I've been doing very low calories (Monday and Wed <500 net cal; ~1000 calories on Tue) so it's not sustainable with that kind of rate, but it seems to help me be more conscious. It reminds me to eat because I'm hungry, not because it will taste good at that moment or because I'm stressed or bored, and that it's ok to be hungry sometimes. Today is my day to be a little higher and then I'll go back to a 3 day cycle with lower calories (I try to keep protein higher and carbs low those days); maybe I'll lose a little more by Feb 1.

Glad the article was helpful.
Good luck Jools. Given you only have around 20lbs to lose to goal, I think the 1lb/week goal loss with a little higher calorie intake is a great idea.
Marla Jean doing awesome getting those workout minutes in!
How are others doing? Liz? Sam? Clair? Shelby?
I think Jill was taking a bit of a break and/or is on honeymoon...0 -
@brisingr86 thanks! I haven't read your article yet, but I plan to when I have a little more time! I DEFINITELY have a tougher time on the weekends! Also, I have done the lower calorie thing from time to time or even some intermittent fasting, but it's good you have a 3 day reboot because our bodies go into starvation mode after 3 days and then that just slows down your metabolism...
Got my workout plan set for the next few days so I'm closing in on my goal, but it's gonna be right down to the wire I think!
1252/1500
Going to cardio boxing tonight so another 45 minutes at least there!
Have a great day ladies!0 -
Jools - your goals sound achievable and 1lb a week weight loss is way more fun than 2lbs!
Sarah - I'm so impressed with your low calorie days - I certainly couldn't manage that!
Marla Jean - You're almost there with your exercise goals! I'm sure you'll do it!
I'm at my sister's this week and using her scales - I think they're weighing me a little high but it might be all the chocolate buttons! I'll have to wait until Sunday to know for sure.
I've picked up my dress and the wedding is in 9 sleeps time, so I only have to maintain now and make sure I don't go overboard!
Lots of Insanity workouts and lifting my baby nephews to make my arms look nice!
Good luck everyone - only a few days of January left to go!0 -
1367/1500
When I make my 30 minute Elite Fit class tonight I'll be down to 103 minutes to cover for the weekend!
Thanks @samlovesthesnow I think you're right! I'm gonna do it!0 -

So exciting Sam! Sure everything will be fine and you will look gorgeous in your dress. Playing with babies is always a fun way to work those arms ;-)
Go Marla Jean! You're totally hitting that goal.0 -
1487/1500
I may do that last 13 later tonight so I can have a rest day tomorrow0 -
Well o sort of failed this month, I lost 7 and gained back 5! However, I was good 3 years it of 4 weekday weeks, and given that I'm usually rubbishy all of January that is an improvement0
