Anyone on HRT - advice please

I started taking HRT in beginning of December.
Since then I've gained weight and completely gone off track, both with my food logging and emotions. I know it's all down to what I put in my mouth, but has anyone else had issues with weight gain whilst taking them?
I can't come off them yet due to my symptoms etc, but I can't live like this either when all was going so well before I started taking them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @SlimSonic, sorry to hear you're having a bad time. I'm not on HRT, however I work almost exclusively with women with health issues related to menopause. I can only speak for what happens in UK. Most doctors would want a patient to stay on a particular prescription of HRT for 3 months to make sure that they gave it enough time to be sure it wasn't working. However I feel that's too long for some. I'd suggest you go back and talk to your prescriber about your symptoms, they're not what you'd expect. There are 100's of combinations available and they should be able to give you one that is suitable for you. If you live in a country where compounding pharmacies are popular, you may be able to get a tailor made version, especially if you pay for your health care through insurance. Good luck0

Great post. We're lucky to have you here.
Slim Sonic, perhaps join the menopause group as well?
I am using (bio-identical) progesterone. My doc prescribed estrogen as well, but I *knew* I didn't need it. We did my blood work and sure enough, my progesterone was low and my estrogen was NORMAL. even though my blood work consistently shows me as menopausal.
Progesterone does make me bloated, and I've gained a few pounds. I always have the munches. BUT I sleep. My vertigo is lessened, and my mood improved.0 -
I use daily HRT after surgically induced menopause. I've been using it since 2012. I'm sure my slow weight loss is related to this (among other things) too. My only recommendation would be to speak to your provider and see if there is a lower dose, or different option. I hope you find a resolution before it becomes a really bad issue for you! Hugs!0
