Well. Could you give us a little bit of info so we can help?
Height, weight, age, how much you want to lose, your carb target level, do you exercise (a little, a lot, or not at all)...

And then we'll see if we can help you out a little.

How are your clothes fitting? But, even if you're not sure they are more loose, it still doesn't necessarily mean they aren't. You lose all over your body, not just in the waist. Actually, I think that's often the last to go.
I only lost 4 lbs since September but in my progress pics I took recently compared to September, it's quite clear I've made a great deal of actual progress. More than what I think 4 lbs looks like. And, I knew my jeans I bought in September were more loose, but they still fit. So I wasn't feeling like I had made much progress. But I did!
Do you take photos to compare? The scale is the absolute worst method to track your progress.
After being so excited about finally loosing more than a pound in the last month, I'm up 0.6 lbs as of the last week. But, I KNOW that I haven't gained weight. It's just water and hormone fluctuations.

Unfortunately my clothes are actually fitting a little tighter and I have taken progress pics and haven't noticed any changes in a while :( and my measurements have stayed the same as well. Is it possible it may be the Atkins products I'm eating? I know with going thru menopause I'm going to see changes too but hopefully not for the worse lol! I'm going to try eliminating some of the Atkins products and see if it produces some results. Do you think it might be the sweetener I'm using in my tea that could be part of what's hindering me?

That's definitely possible. I believe eating only real food is the way to go with bars like those being eaten as a rare treat. Like a candy bar...
But more info would help to give you some more things to look at.

Yes it is possible: on both the Atkins products and the sweetener. Though I'd eliminate the Atkins stuff first. The sweet ones use sugar alcohols. Atkins subtracts them in their net carb calculation, but really it is best to count at least half of the sugar alcohol count, because despite what they say, they DO cause blood glucose and insulin responses in a lot of people. Lots of people report that they stall eating those things.

Which sweetener are you using in your tea?

I'm working out 5 days a week, eating between 1300-1400 calories, but still very hungry so I'm hoping eliminating Atkins products will bring the results I'm looking for and get me out of this stall I'm in....

Hi Magpie, I was enjoying Quest's Peanut Butter cups everyday, was losing weight just fine, and then I stalled. I cut them out recently and literally started losing them next day and have seen consistent loss each day since. Even if it's just water loss, I'm happy to see the scale move again. I knew eating real food was better for me, but they were my last junk food hold out.

And I had all The Firm VHS tapes too, loved them!!

@Magpie469221 what are your usual macros? Ie 5 % carb: 15% protein :80% fat? I ask because you mention getting hungry which may mean insufficient fat and too many carbs. Easy done on frozen meals n "treats".

When I change my exercise routine and vary macros a bit my weight is more likely to drop.

I Agree with others, I would ditch atkins n sweeteners. Good luck.

Ok. So leave the Splenda for now. Cut way down on the Atkins stuff like you said. I'd err on 1400cals minimum. Your BMR is 1393cals (the calories it takes to run your organs and brain at rest) and you seem like you are pretty active. Make sure you get enough electrolytes, and stay hydrated. Try that for a few weeks and see if that doesn't do it. If not, you may need to adjust your carb ceiling. Some people are just really sensitive to carbs, so they need to eat less to control cravings. That's going to be an ongoing experiment for you.

Another word on those Atkins things, they can cause cravings in some as well. If you find you are still really hungry, try switching your macros around so that you are eating more fat and less carbs. Also, exercising for more than 30 min can sometimes cause a spike in hunger too. Catch-22 right?

But for now, keep it simple and just worry about saying bye-bye to Atkins things and sugar alcohols.

Thanks everyone for the advice so far I'm already seeing the hunger issue go down since I haven't eaten any Atkins products today and drank only 2 glasses of tea with a tablespoon of splenda the rest of my liquid intake has been water :) I worked out to a " pink" The Firm DVD 55 min and heavier weights and already feeling I'm heading in the right direction :) Have a good one everyone!

A while ago, I posted the weight results of my ad libitum eating when eating artificial sweeteners (mostly Atkins products) daily. I consumed at least one sweet food item a day for a month. I went from losing weight, to gaining weight. My calories did go up, but not enough to account for the different in the change in my weight loss to weight gain.

In short, Atkins bars, artificial sweeteners, and other such products cause me to gain weight and throw my hunger signals way off. I can't have them.

    Edit: 1yhd6a2ndxwo.png

The month of May, I was losing 0.38 kg/week. June I added one or more sweet things a day (staying under 25 net carbs), and was gaining 0.46 kg/week. That's a swing of 0.84 kg/week (over 1.8 pounds a week difference). At the end of June, I went back to no sweeteners (actually went carnivore right then), and the weight game off plus a little more.

It took me 8 months but I slowly cut back my use of sweetener in my coffee until I got to using just 1Tbs. Then I just couldn't seem to cut it any further. So I decided to just quit completely at that point because I realized the fact that I couldn't cut it further was because I wanted that sweet taste so badly and with only half a tablespoon, I couldn't taste it. I felt like that was actually a small craving and I just don't like the idea of stuff messing with my head like that. I just quit it completely that day and it was a non issue within a couple days.
I started out using 3Tbs per 12 ounce cup. Plus I drank a Diet Coke a few times a week and ate artificially sweetened yogurt almost every night. I was getting quite a lot of it! So glad I kicked that habit now!

@Magpie469221, I'm so glad you cut out the Atkins products to see if it made a difference, and that difference is positive! It's sad that these supposed "okay on low carb" foods aren't okay for all! I'm one who can't have them, because of the splenda! I just cut out all sweeteners when I finally accepted that I was one who reacts negatively to it!

@Fit_Goat! I don't recall seeing that graph posted since I've been here, but that is the same type of weight gain trend I had last June after adding DaVinci sf syrup to my coffee! It was my only dietary change, and I remained within my macros, but the weight kept coming up! The sucralose is the common ingredient and I feel that some have a body that doesn't know what to do with it! Creating inflammation, retained water, and therefore weight gain! I even gained some inches! I went way too long before I finally accepted the cause, and poured it down the drain! It took a couple of months before I finally got to a new low on the scale, but the inches dropped big time, really quick! That was enough confirmation to avoid it forever!!

Wow! Thank you all for the advice and I already feel better with day one behind me and no Atkins products yay! I lost a couple of ounces from yesterday to today it's not much but at least the scale moved yay!! So I know you are all right and if it's not real food don't eat it just really disappointed that the product is advertising falsely and I bought a lot of the products this week

The original Atkins and what Atkins has become since his death are completely different beasts. Granted, he changed the diet several times while alive to make it more appealing and less strict for people. If you compare the version of Atkins from '72 to the one(s) promoted today, you'll see a vast difference.

    Atkins 72 Rules: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=430644

The original started out with 0 grams of carbs, and it was total carbs (not net). Then you went up 5 grams at a time, until you found your personal limit.

One of the current plans allows 40 grams of net carbs as a start. That's a LOT of carbs when you are subtracting sugar alcohols and fiber (which you'll find aplenty in Atkins packaged foods).

@Karlottap I think I posted about it a couple times, but it's easy to miss things on here. Yeah, right before I went carnivore (following a plan that was very anti-artificial sweeteners), I set out to check if they were a problem for me. So, I made a plan of at least one sweet food a day, staying within my net carb goal, for the month of June. I could have more, if I wanted. I also continued to track my food, but I didn't restrict calories (as I hadn't restricted them before or after). If I was still hungry, I continued to eat. As you can see, my hunger cues were way out of control. And, my weight shot up even more than you would expect from the extra 500-ish calories a day I averaged.
