Okay I was looking around different discussion post, blogs and groups! I have decided to add this challenge as well! This is to help keep you motivated and maybe help you get to know members of the group a little better! The idea here is that you post something on here everyday for one whole year! You also count the days in your post! ( example 1/365 and so on) This is a fun and simple challenge that will help keep you on MFP for one whole year!!!! Imagine how great you will look if you log your meals and work out for an entire year!!!!

3/365- so far so good! I've logged in for a complete month! Which is amazing because people you add as friends sometimes quit days after starting! Don't quit! Keep going! Do something, anything that will keep you moving!!! We are all here to better ourselves! :)

Do I start with my own day 1? Or jump in on your day 3?

@brynncody09 great question! You can start with your own number 1! The hope is you post something daily so that you are able to stay on this fitness journey for a whole year! :)

Okay so then 1/365: I ate a brownie today. A big brownie. I should have said no, so now I'm trying hard to work off the calories so I can eat a small and very healthy dinner!

4/365!! Yesterday was a little crazy! I totally lost track of time! :D my water was out so I only had soda.... I really should just get rid of the stuff! I wasn't expecting a issue with the plumbing sometimes life just happens like that! Anyway soda messed my calories up a bit! So I want to do an awesome workout to make up for it later today!

@brynncody09 brownies are a weakness of mine! So I totally understand why you said yes!!! Hopefully you were able to have that small and healthy dinner! :)

I'm in! Day 1/365 for me. I'm new to MFP, but I did Weight Watchers for almost a year before I found MPF. I totally need accountability, so I'm happy to be here!

What's your workout of choice, Jess? Do you go to the gym or do it at home?

5/365 I workout at home actually! Since I have little to no money since I'm in college I use a couple of free apps for my workout! I use Fitstar, Fitstar yoga and I am trying out a new app called sworkit which was recommended by another member! :) I also do some of the workouts I post under the daily challenge! So I'm a big of simple fast no equipment necessary type of workouts! How about you Rebel?

2/365 should have been yesterday but I'll do it today: I drove 5 hours for my nephews birthday party and managed to stay within my calories for the day! But then when I left to drive back home my car broke down and now I'm waiting for the garage to open. I want to be fit but life constantly gets in the way!

I finally had a great night of sleep. Went to church and had a great speaker Dan Issell. It's raining today so I will do a Walking DVD today. I have a headache again. I hope it's the weather.

2/365 That's great that you have the willpower to work out at home, Jess! I need accountability and a little competition to get me going, so I've become a Fitbit step-freak. I'm in challenges with people who get over 30k steps/day, on a regular basis! I'd like to add some weight training to my cardio, but I haven't gotten there yet. That's my next goal. :)

6/365 my sleep schedule gets so turned around on the weekends! Lol yesterday was okay! I need to get up and move! Losing the motivation to workout but still logging and coming under my calorie goal! :)

@brynncody09 oh no I hope your car is okay!

@LottieStanley welcome to the year of posting challenge! :) I hope your headache is gone... I hate it when I get them! I also hope the weather improves

@RebelWalk that is a great goal!!! My motivation varies day to day since I am home! This week wasn't my best but I'm ready to kick some butt! It's amazing how different one can feel after working out!

3/365 I finally got home around midnight last night and had to work today, so it's been a rough day. I'm still having trouble with my car so I'm not sure if I'll make it to my gym class, but if not I'm going to do the daily fitness challenge to get something in.

3/365 Okay, @jessicakahn606, you've inspired me to give it a try! This week's goal (besides tracking my food, not snacking after 8 pm and getting my 15k steps) is to try a workout on Fitstar or Sworkit. Time to find my muscles! :)

7/365 so yesterday I got in a 30 minute workout and it felt good!!! I hope to continue it today! I also tired sworkit! It's pretty fast pace but I do like how the workouts are random and always changing! :) I did get lucky yesterday because my class was cancelled! It gave me three extra hours!

@LottieStanley I will keep my eye out for soft on knee workouts!! :)

@brynncody09 I hope your car gets fixed! And you can try any workout you want on there

@RebelWalk yeah give one a try and tell me how you like it! Is there a reason to stop snacking after 8?

Today was beautiful in Kentucky, took my workout outside. Walked over two miles, with my two dogs. Put them in doggie stroller for most of it Shih Tzu's have such short legs they tire quick. They love the stroller, stick out there heads like they do in cars. We get a lot of looks on our walks.

I would appreciate any suggestions for workouts for bad knees. Bought a book tonight that had pliates exercise I thought I might try. At least I bought it at half price books in case I don't like it, but I hope I do.

Good job Lottie for walking the two miles!!!! Your dogs sound cute! :)

Today is a little crazy I'm reading The Catcher in the Rye for my English course! It's my first time reading it! I heard a lot of good reviews I'm just not sure I like it that much! I'm only half way through who knows I might like it near the end! It's just taking a long time for me to read it! I hope I finish I have a quiz on it later today and not entirely thrilled about the idea!

Oh no apparently my post yesterday didn't post. But day 4/365 was about life getting in the way.

Today is 5/365 and I am in a fitbit challenge with one of my students. He is marching during every class and every meal, making me do the same. My legs are tired but I easily got over 15k today. If anyone wants to be fitbit friends I'm under Brynn2Win and my email is brynncody09@gmail.com

Oh, yeah!!! I'll take you on in Fitbit, Brynn! I do a couple challenges every week. It's great how getting steps gets easier as you go along. But it's super cool that you get to experience a whole mindset shift about walking! I went from using an expired ( :s ) handicap sign to park as close as possible wherever I went, to being excited to park far away and get more steps.

I love that your student is getting you to move during class and meals! I'm going to try that, too. :)

First off, I fell asleep while checking in yesterday, but I'm going to count it as my Day 4 check-in, anyway (hope that's kosher).

So, today is 5/365. No time for Sworkit today... too busy with college financial aid paperwork (my daughter's a senior in high school). But I will get to it tomorrow.

And, my logic for the 8 pm moratorium on snacking is that I seem to ingest most of my garbage calories then (also, it's better to not eat for a few hours before bed to help with weight loss, although I don't have a citation handy for this).

Good luck with CitR, @jessicakahn606! I don't remember it well enough to recall if I liked it or not... I may have to reread!

Well weather changed drastically so I walked the stores for my exercise. Did good at getting steps fine and didn't buy anything.

6/365 we had a 2hr delay today so I used the time to make a quick trip to the gym! It was shorter than I wanted because I couldn't find my knee brace but I still went!

Migraine today. Didn't feel relief till after 3:00pm so I didn't do a workout today. After a migraine with the achy feeling and sensitivity I was afraid to do much. I'm trying to figure out why I had one. Yesterday I had a caffeine free Diet Coke. I haven't had artificial sweetener lately, I wonder if that could be a trigger. The weather also changed so it makes it hard to figure out. I will get back on track tomorrow. I actually missed it today.

-I have a midterm and an essay due tomorrow so I am really focused on that today and probably tomorrow I hopefully can finish early enough to get a workout in. I love how many steps you all take!! The most I do is a mile or so but that is me just walking to my car and to my class!

@RebelWalk Thank you! I didn't know about the not snacking late at night! :)

I hate to say it because I believed the not snacking late thing for the longest time, but everyone is different. Technically cals in vs cals out is all you need for weight lossv and it doesn't matter (mathematically) when those happen. For me if I eat late I don't sleep well, so I'm cranky and make poor food choices the next day. Like @RebelWalk said that's usually when I choose bad food too. Plus I'm not as hungry in the AM so I might choose a snack later instead of my normal breakfast. Those are the reasons I avoid snacking late. But with that said if it worked for your body you could eat all of your calories at 1159 each night and still lose weight.

As a science-minded person, I totally believed the "calories in vs calories out is all that matters" argument, Brynn... but then I curbed my late-night snacking and was pleasantly surprised at the results. And now there's scientific evidence to back it up! Here's a quick article on the subject: https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/why-eating-late-at-night-may-be-particularly-bad-for-you-and-your-diet/2015/08/24/ad8b85ac-2583-11e5-b77f-eb13a215f593_story.html

"Studies tend to show that when food is consumed late at night — anywhere from after dinner to outside a person’s typical sleep/wake cycle — the body is more likely to store those calories as fat and gain weight rather than burn it as energy." (from the article)

But you're right... everyone's metabolism reacts differently and this is just a generalization.
