Yeck on the smoothie

I used to make a great smoothie when I worked.
It had:
1/2 plain ff yogurt, 1/3 cup cranberry juice
1/2 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup cranberries.
1 banana
dash of vanilla and orange extract, 1 artificial sweetner
1 tsp olive oil.
It was tasty, smooth and quite filling.
Today I made one with things I had on hand:
1 banana, 1/2 cup skim milk, 3 Tbsp Bran Buds, the same amounts of strawberries and blueberries. 1/4 cup spinach. Orange extract and vanilla.
It was so gross looking. It wasn't that tasty either. I ate about half, that's all I could take.
Now, I need to find something for lunch instead.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I understand completely, because I tried replacing lunch with a premixed protein shake as part of a doctor-ordered crash diet, and am surprised that I passed my afternoon classes that semester due to inattention in class caused by nausea and hunger pangs. Now I eat low-carb and reduced-calorie, yet still real, food for all meals and snack on a homemade shake.0

Never tried the protein shakes. I'm just kinda bummed that I used my berries and stuff, and then threw out half.

I use 2 cups cashew milk, 1/2 cup spinach and kale, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, 5-9 drops cherry extract, sweetener to taste( I use a blend of stevia and erithtol) one scoop of jay Robb protein powder and ice. Mix in my vitamix. Yummy. You can make a snickers flavored one just add Carmel extract instead of cherry and a tbsp of low sugar peanut butter. Root beer float- no cocoa vanilla extract and root beer extract. Key is not Ot over do on the spinach and kale, add the protein powder and use extracts of change the flavors. Need the protein powder to keep the hunger pangs away. It may be green, but if it tastes like a rootbeer float who cares.0

Sounds pretty tastey. I don't use protein powder, normally, I use ff Greek yogurt instead of milk, cranberry juice, banana, frozen strawberries, cranberry and blueberries. I can't stand the taste of kale. VAnilla extract, orange extract and a sweetener.
Honestly, I only make smoothies if my bananas are too ripe to put on my cereal. Sometimes, I'll peel them and freeze them, if I think about it. It has lots of anti-oxidants and fibre.
By using the frozen berries, I don't need to add ice.
I'll have to search out some of those different extracts.0 -
Years ago I used rum extract and coconut extract to make a tasty fake pina colada. No protein in it so it could not be used as a meal replacement, but it was a healthy fruit treat. I may try to recreate it.0
