@boombalatty123, if you've never had high cholesterol before, I would ask for a repeat in a fe months. You need to make sure you are fasting the night before your test and stay away from high fat meals about 3 days before. High fat meals right before a blood test can elevate your results because of fat in the bloodstream (you can see fat globules in test tubes sometimes). The other thing to ask is which part of your cholesterol went up. It's probably your total cholesterol, but it's important to ask how much your LDL (bad) went up and how much your HDL (good) went up. If your HDL went up significantly, than that's great. If your doctor misspoke and your triglycerides are high, then reducing the number of simple carbs will help (cut out the processed stuff). Either way, a repeat is a good idea because anomalies in lab tests do exist. Hope this helps!

FYI, I have high cholesterol and have been on a medication for years. My chol went down with meds, but after losing weight with 5:2, my LDL is now below normal, which studies have shown can reverse fatty lesions in arteries. Just a little hope!!

@boombalatty123 I agree with @flossyruby1. Defiantly get a repeat. I used to get my blood pressure taken regularly and it was always perfect...until one day it was hugely different, but then my DR noticed I had my feet on my tippy toes and not flat on the ground. She repeated it straight away and it was normal again. Little things can really make a difference.

So after two fast days and being strong on avoiding the shortbread in the office, I thought I would treat myself with a slice after my lunch today, only to find its all gone!!! :o am secretly glad as I wouldn't have been able to resist but also gutted!

Lol. They are looking out for you. I had a co-worker come around offering cookies a vendor left for everyone. It was so easy to say no, but man it is hard to mean it...especially as it's a pie kind of cookie that I've never had before or even heard of. Sort of looks like key lime pie. Of course one of my faves and everyone keeps saying how good it is. Thank goodness I brought my homemade cheesecake today!!

Welcome to all the new folks!
I think this is going to be a great week! I can feel it!
@snaps27 I hope your son feels better!
@Donwilks & @megemrj When someone brings in something yummy on a fast day, I save myself a little bit for the next day. That way I don't feel deprived, I just adjust for the calories.

nice to see everyone is doing well! I have completed my two fast days for this week with ease, even took a salad to the cinema last night to stop me caving in and getting ice cream and treats, really proud I stuck to it and I am feeling good for it today!

I am even considering fasting tomorrow aswell as I have nothing planned in the evening so can easily stick to my 500 calories.. has anyone else tried 4:3? If I find 3 days fasting manageable I might even do that or a month or so just to kick-start this weight loss off..

(plus its bank holiday weekend next week, and I am going skiing.. although it will be plenty of exercise, they hardly the best food choices on top of a mountain!)

I sub teach today, so will take advantage of being super busy all day and fast today rather than tomorrow. I've been a little lax about tracking non FD. My daily calorie allotment via MFP seems low. I get too hungry then over eat. As a result, I haven't been motivated to track. What's the point? I'm just going to "overeat". So I've adjusted my total cals to see if that helps. I feel like I'm slipping back into old habits and want to halt that behavior before putting weight back on. Ugh...I swear weight loss is 99.9998% mental and .0002% physical.

@KateNkognito. I saved my "cheat" day for today. The hubs has a job interview and requested dinner out tonight to hopefully celebrate. He will know very soon if he gets it, as it would be a horizontal move.

Hoping he gets this position. It will mean no more shift work, having dinner together every night, and no more on call weekends! Oh and I will get my workout buddy back!!!
  • Fingers crossed for you both!

Well welcome to all the new people joining here!! Sure sounds like everyone is motivated! This has been awesome following along here with this plan. Went from a size 16 to a size 10 dress! Woohoo! I have an event April 29th so I must stick to my new size as I've bought the dress already! Haha my downfall? Candy! I'm worse than both my kids put together and Easter is in two weeks!

@flossyruby1 I hear ya!! It's a strange transition from being so happy with immediate progress then becoming complacent. I have struggled with the 'why log anymore' too, and a couple times I logged the following day out of guilt. They say that maintenance is harder than the actual weight loss and I'm learning that just may be true! I'm going to take my own advice and wear (k I'll have to buy these) non stretchy tight jeans all day long a few times a week to remind myself to not overeat. Stretchy fabric is not my friend! Yes, agreed, it's a mental game for sure! You've done an awesome job so far so don't you give up!! Hope your new calorie adjustment helps and just log log log!!

Also for people thinking of doing a 4:3.... I did that in the beginning which really helped lose weight fast, although doing that more than once a month contributed to me overeating during regular eating days. Just be cautious of that creeping into your system.

    Happy St. Patty's day everyone!

Well today is my 2nd fd. Fingers & toes crossed this one goes as easily as the 1st one...

Keep a secret: Unofficially hubs may have gotten the job! **wink** **nods head** **smile** Officially I'm super excited!!!
  • Good for you (and your H)!
I did my second FD yesterday. I felt hungrier than I did the first time, probably because my last meal before the second FD (dinner the night before) was a little light. But I made it through pretty well. This morning the scale showed 5+ lbs less than it did before I started on 5:2 (5 days ago). it won't last, I'm sure, but it's definitely encouraging! Good luck and determination to everyone today and through the weekend.

Ty. It's a relief and Christmas early.

Same boat, this time I'm hungrier. I had a large dinner last night. 5.67oz Steak, large side salad, asparagus, also had my hflc cheesecake.

  • Mmmm hflc cheesecake .... ;-)

Just finishing my second FD for this week. Feeling kind of cranky and tired, but I just realized I forgot to eat an orange that I had already logged for today's lunch. oops. I guess I got busy. I am a little over the 500 for today, but I'm ok with it. Like 50. I do like the peace I feel on FD. Now, not to over eat on NFD.

Been a bit MIA this week.

Good fast day on Monday and a nice date to boot. Then the week turned.... Was out and about alot and had a low day on Friday, but it definitely didn't count as a fast. And again on an emotional roller coaster. Da****it, how come they don't realize, they are not ready for something new, before they start something new, arggghhh. Shed some tears, because he is not ready for someone like me and because again I am attracted to a man, that is not available. A bit at a loss as what that is trying to tell me, as I have resolved so many issues concerning this. I need some time and will find out.

It's beautiful weather and spring flowers are blooming and they lift my spirits. So got my balcony ready for spring, went for a ride and a long walk to my fruit farmer and enjoyed the sun and my balcony today. I won't be down for long, but at the moment, I'm allowing myself to feel the sorrow. Pushing it away is not a solution for me.

Weebles wobble my friends, but they don't fall down. Wobbling a bit today.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

@flumi_f Maybe God is telling you to stop trying so hard, He will find you the right guy at the right time. That is how it worked for me. (hug)

Understand you point, Kate and my subscription runs out in April. Will not renew. I have not been looking actively myself...they find me. My heart is open (which is new, so I give some of them a chance.) And each one has their positive traits until they get scared (usually some old baggage catches up with them and they start avoiding communication. Running seems easier to them than confronting their fears. I don't work that way anymore, so I guess, I'm scary to them :p Many become dishonest. Anyway, still figuring out, why I still attract this type of men but I am not drowning in sorrow ;-) As quickly as I let them in, I let them out, when they start running (that's new too) It's all part of my learning process...just hard sometimes.

None the less I enjoyed my weekend with a ride, 2 walks and several sunshine aperos on my balcony. I walked to the wild garlic field today in memory of my horse. I had to put him down two years ago tomorrow due to blindness (he couldn't cope). We used to ride there together and he would wait patiently for me to gather the leaves. In his honor I am making mashed potatos with fresh wild garlic leaves for dinner and enjoying a glass of red wine to boot. God bless his soul and letting me spend 20yrs with such a wonderful creature and friend.
