The race went okay. They closed transition area about a half hour before race start...which I didn't realize. I was allowed to run in and dump my stuff but not grab things or set up. The result, I didn't have any of my race fuel with me for the first two hours of the race and the final run was pretty pitiful for the first half. I grabbed my fuel belt for the second run, and so each mile improved greatly. But I had fun, met lots of lovely ladies,, I had a sports therapist stretch me out afterward which felt amazing, they serve fruit and French toast and fancy scrambled eggs, and they had fancy drinks to top it off.
I'm pretty sore this morning, and I had a dull headache all day. Positive side: I never got a migraine even though I didn't properly fuel during the race which I normally get if that happens. My kids were super sweet yesterday since I basically sat in my room and ignored them all day and they didn't complain or pester me once about it. Also, even with things going awry, I did decent on the bike and it helped calm nerves I have about my triathlon of the same distance in August. I know I could do the race now, so I have several months to work on speed instead.
I'm feeling a little out of it today. I skipped my run for obvious reasons. But I also have a swim today which I will still do as for the most part it works separate muscles. That's about it.

    Have a great Monday everyone!

Hi! Sounds like a good race day val and good prep work. Way to go.

Well I did lots of walking to get some of the backlog of errands done today, after dropping the kids off at school. I didn't do a happy dance when I dropped them off, but after two weeks, my smile was very wide. Went to gym to discuss training and there was no manager there and I learned that training sessions schedule only from 11am. This is a problem bc they never told me that when we signed up and my plan is to go at nine. Waiting for manager to phone me to discuss this, plus to see which trainer is working mornings and if they will be a good fit for me. Feeling sooo unfit. :(

Lazy weekend. Not so much healthy eating. Back on track today.

Excellent job with the race Val considering the obstacles with transition closing so early. But why weren't you able to grab fuels before the bike portion of the race? Happy you didn't end up with a migraine!

Sherry hope you can get things figured out with a trainer that works for your schedule. My trainer starts later in the day (late morning/early afternoon) Monday through Thursday and then is there until 7:00 or 8:00 pm, and then Friday he does an earlier shift, and he takes weekends off. His evenings are pretty packed from his clients who work weekdays. The other trainers in the gym work different schedules though depending on their availability & clients. Last summer they also started offering Alloy training, which is taught by the personal trainers. It's a timed circuit class with 3 different levels of intensity. There's an extra monthly fee for members to attend those classes. Think it's $50/month. A few months ago they changed it so members who are already working out with a trainer can do those for free, but that was after I had started marathon training so Jason didn't want me to add anything that intense to my schedule. Monday Jason teaches a class from 5:00-6:00 and then I train with him at 6:00 and the people who come out of there look absolutely destroyed.

I'm dragging today, both mentally and physically. I slept really well last night. I had a chiropractor appointment this morning so I got to sleep in (his first appointment is 8:00 and I usually have to leave the house at 7:00 - and his office is a 3 minute drive from my house).
