How many carbs do you stay under a day? Also is this net carbs or total carbs? Where do majority of your carbs come from?

20 or less net carbs per day is my goal...I usually do ok ...most of my carbs come from vegetables. haven't been doing this that long and still kinda finding my way around but eating naturally low carb food simply prepared seems to be working for me.0
-
Usually around 50 to 70 g per day. That helps keep my BG under control.0
-
25g net. My carbs come from veggies and dairy.0
-
25g net or less - mainly veggies. Love my broccoli!1

I try to stay under 40 although some days i can be under 20. Most of my carbs come from veggies and whole milk. Staying under 40 is keeping my blood sugars great0

These days I think I'm probably trending about 5-10g since I'm leaning more on the carnivore side lately. But I averaged about 20g for the past year. All from green veggies, dairy and dark chocolate. Gasp!1

I've only just started out but I'm trying to stay around 25 net carbs. This may well get tweaked along the way0

I usually fall in the 20-35g of carbs per day range. That's total carbs, not net. I do eat some vegetables, but not a ton so I would say that 1/3rd to sometimes 1/2 of the carbs I eat are fiber.0
-
Usually <10, and they come from dairy. I have a veggie maybe twice a month, and on those days I'm around 20 total. Been at this level right at a year and it's my body's preferred level.0

Hi sorry to butt n to the thread, I am a newbie and noticed people talking about net carbs. How would I work this out from my food diary.0

Install this script to get a net carb counter on MFP. (Web only)1 -

Net carbs are usually construed as total carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols. Unfortunately, MFP does not list sugar alcohols as a separate category, so you'd have to calculate that manually. So if my cup of spinach is 4 total carbs, and 3 grams of fiber, I calc it as 4-3=1 net carb.1 -
Thanks for the replies.
So as an example if my total carbs for today is 30 and my total fibre is 11 then that means I've had 19 grams of net carbs? Does that mean I could have more carbs.
My sugar says I've had 23 grams so how would I work that bit out.
I'm so excited about this and really want to learn more as I think this type of dieting will work better for me.0 -

It sounds like you may have some incorrect entries in your log. Because if your net carbs are at 19, then your sugar shouldn't be higher than that.
I know in Europe and the U.K., the carb counts on packaging is excluding fibre already. For example, if this food has 10g of carbs and 5g fibre, it is 10g net because the fibre is already taken out. In North America, it is all added together.
You used stone as a measurement so I guessed you were from the UK. This may be more confusing...
However, for stuff like vegetables you can always look up nutrition information online. A lot of the entries are American...but if you type in 'broccoli usda' into the search it should come up with accurate information you can cross reference on Google.

Yes your right I am from the Uk, I wouldn't be surprised if there wrong quite often I'll scan something and it will either come out with an entirely different product or like u say some of the data is wrong.
I am still very new to this so thanks for all your help your giving me0 -
Soooo, if you're finding the net carbs to be complicated, I wouldn't use that method. The idea that it allows you to eat more carbs is a slippery slope...
I would not subtract sugar alcohols. Net carb subtraction is meant to allow for more green veggies.0 -
50-75 lots of veggies and some dairy0

Not many. I found type has more impact on my bg# than counting #s.
When I was counting I ate less than 20g total.
I still log my food but not their numbers, less head games.

I shoot for less than 20 total. If I figured net carbs it would probably be around 10.

I aim for 50-70 total. Some days it's only 40ish. Carbs from veggies bother my BG less than grains or beans.0

100-110/day, with about 20-30g of that fiber.1

This is probably closest to me. I'm the resident SLOW carber. I don't really count. I just aim for protein and vegetables at every meal, and nuts and seeds as snacks. Sometimes cheese.
Yesterday:
Br: broth (I'm experimenting with intermittent fasting)
sn: mixed nuts
lu: ham, pesto, spinach in a low carb wrap
sn: pumpkin seeds
di: caesar salad (no croutons) with salmon
sn: toasted, seasoned nori1 -

Diet twins...kinda. Ish.
Yesterday:
Br: leftover polish kielbasa and coffee
Lu: LC wrap with roast beef, tomato, much lettuce, onions, and a tbsp ranch
Sn: full fat yogurt
Di: 18 brussell sprouts, beef roast and it's juices, over a (1/2 cup) bed of black-eyed peas
Sn: small apple and an almond/cashew mix
I don't usually eat as much red meat, but occasionally I have a craving or we have a roast we got on clearance that needs to be used. I've been doing the Meatless May for lunch. But I had a craving for the meat. I usually have sliced avocado instead of meat in the wrap or on a giant salad. An ALT-Avocado, lettuce, and tomato. With salt and pepper and the tang of the ranch. DEEEEElicious.

I aim for a range between 65-75 but don't fuss if I come in a bit under OR a bit over, as long as my total remains under 100 I'm fine with it, and doing so much better in that range than I was when I tried to stick to strict keto range.2

I stay between 20 and 30. But protein is where I struggle. Always going over.0
-
Im brand new to this, but have been shooting for under 25 grams net0

Net carbs 20-350

I eat under 20 g total most days. Carbs come from dairy and veggies. I don't worry if I go over if it is from fiber from veggies. I use total carbs just because it is easier with MFP.0
