WELCOME to all walkers!
Oh my, June is here already !! It seems unbelievable that we are almost halfway through 2016. It is time to start a another new monthly challenge! Soon Summer fun will be here !
Having Leslie's, or other walking DVDs, to pop in the player continues to be a great alternative to walking outdoors. Because of the warmer weather walking or hiking outdoors will be a pleasant alternative to the DVDs for those who enjoy getting their miles or minutes outdoors. Especially after the long winter or extra rain we just had.
This group is open to any and all walkers. The majority of us use Leslie Sansone Walk At Home DVD workouts, as well as those great walks or hikes outside on the trails or pathways that are available to us, or a walk in our neighborhood, and on the treadmill, as well as other Walking DVDs. All of these many options count toward our miles and minutes. However you get your walk in, come on in and join us! Post your miles or minutes that you have walked, however you did it... it is all good!
We are a happy, supportive group, and I promise that joining this walk challenge will motivate, challenge, as well as inspire you!
Set your goal for how many miles or minutes that you want to walk, indoors or out, this month. This is your own personal goal . Post your results daily, weekly, or whenever you like.
If you find this challenge in the middle of the month it doesn't matter which day of the month that you join in. Just set your goals to reflect what you want to walk for the remaining days in the month. You are always welcome !
So if you are new to the group please feel free to start today so that by the end of the month you will be that much closer to your health goals. It is never too late to join in
Tie up those walking shoes and get some water, and let's start walking !
It is always fun to read which DVD, whether Leslie or another instructor, that you used. Or whatever form your walk took, whether outdoors or on the treadmill or anything in between. We all could use some new inspiration sometimes, or inquiring minds sometimes just want to know . So please share if you would care to . (pretty please )
Come on in and let us start walking the Monthly Walk Challenge together. I know that I say this each month but I am very grateful for each one of our precious walkers who continue to inspire and motivate mile by mile, and step by step, each month.
I know that we are all excited to see our long time faithful walking friends join us for yet another amazing month together, and we are awaiting the opportunity to welcome newcomers to this month's Walk Challenge!
And now... let us lace up those walking shoes and get our water... and we will begin to walk into June of 2016!

These challenges have been a real blessing to me, in slowly building up my 'walking muscles' - and it's also about creating new habits. Start where you are and then add on to it, little by little.
The habits I am currently creating are to walk 1 mile with Leslie first thing in the AM. There are 2 1 miles that I like on YouTube - I think 1 is called 1 mile Express. If I get that out of the way first thing in the AM, then I know my day is a success no matter what follows.
My next plan is to do some other form of walking before I can eat my supper. So that can be another 1 mile or more with Leslie, or walk some in the neighbourhood, or going on a hike, which has been a new addition to my routine over the past month. (BTW I have also gotten another friend interested in walking so we often go out on her day off.) I do Leslie if the weather is bad/ too hot or no other form has happened - she is my backup plan.
I am working on increasing the distance (time) for walking the neighbourhood, in preparation for a garden tour here on the 18th. And I have started walking to the market 1-2 times a week.
So my goal for June is related to my minimum personal goal of 2 miles per day - so 60 miles in June. (My goal for May had been 40, and I surpassed it. )

OK, I am fed up and am rededicating to walking! I did not make my goal in Feb, March or April and the scale shows it!! :noway: I finally got back on pace in May. My goal was 3.0 miles per day and I actually averaged 3.5 miles. :drinker: Since last June, I was recovering from hernia surgery and still managed to walk 95 miles, I am setting my June goal to 4.0 miles a day or 120 miles for the month!!!! These winter semester pounds have to go so my summer clothes fit!!!! :laugh:

June I am going to stick with the 100 as I am also starting the Jillian 30 day shred. Lets see if I can do it all. LOL2

I do not measure miles or minutes. I measure steps. I am going for 8000 steps a day.3

Ink to paper - here is goes.. I plan to hit 45 miles this month. That should be do able. I need to just lace up my shoes and get to walking.1

I have done water Zumba for 45/50mins yesterday and did a short walk today I say only 15 mins i was talking with a neighbor, lol. I believe I will be joining the gym for the pool use. Looking forward to it.1

bgoddess Maybe you are not as unmotivated as you have always thought! Maybe, you just like water workouts? I love to swim and do it all summer long, and would do it for exercise, but going to a pool takes too much time for me. Enjoy Zumba in the water! :laugh:

I did water Zumba tonight for an hour , it kicked my butt I hope I am on my way to losing weight.June Goal-4.0 miles a day or 120 miles for the month!!!!

I did water Zumba for an hour I was exhausted afterwards. I just hope to see results. I also did about 6 or maybe 8 laps (just movement)

Yesterday, June 1, I got 10,848 steps. Today, June 2, I got 7648, so I am on track for averaging 8,000 steps a day. I also did a Curves workout yesterday and a Curves Body Basic with extras today.2
