June 2016 - Walking Challenge

And June begins....
Do we have different goals this month. Gardening maybe?
I am hoping to get some serious yard work done. I do enjoy yard work and gardening. What is everyone going to do in June?
My goal is for 125 miles (to beat last June) and 10 days over 10,000 steps. This might be a bit of a challenge because I will be travelling for work, so hotel gyms again.
Take care everyone and enjoy the summer.

4:45 am...up, peddling...goal is to hit the bike each morning before work to get my head in the right place...the rest should take care of itself...(only excuse is if I have a totally sleepless night or am sick)...
Pool, water aerobics three days a week minimum
10k steps a day
I live in Phoenix...no outdoor activities for the summer.

Upping my goals a little bit for June. I would rather exceed my goals then completely miss them.
June totals
Steps: 250k
Miles: 100 mi
Daily step goal: 6500
10 10k+ days
The best part of May is the I hit my daily step goal of 6k 27/31 days. I really want to keep up the consistent movement. I'm shooting for 27/30 in June as I have 3 really heavy travel days (flying cross country and 2 12 hr drives). Have a big family trip at the end of the month. Looking forward to relaxing, unplugging, and moving my butt1 -

June will be an interesting month for me. I will be transitioning to retirement. I will be handing over to newbies the responsibilities I have a had for a long time. I really need to practise letting go and keep telling myself that the new people will do your job just fine!!1 -
It's sooo hot. Makes it difficult to motivate!
I have the luxury of a cool basement, that we finally finished last winter. But before that - fans. Moving air around for some reason always makes me feel cooler. And a clean floor - bare feet on a freshly mopped floor gives me the feeling of coolness.
I can't remember what you do for work. I work at a desk most days.... I can wear sandals and capris. And I have a small fan under my desk that moves the air around. One of my co-workers rules the thermostat (won't miss her when I retire!!) so the air conditioning doesn't get turned one too often...0 -

I work at a desk too. At home Monday/Friday, in the office with a standing desk Tuesday-Thursday. I have air conditioning at work so that's not a problem, but none at home. Last week it was 90-100 degrees outside and 85 inside our house, and no basement. My daughter is like a mini heater so even thinking about strapping her on for a walk made me sweat. Going to be cooler this week. Looking forward to some hikes

Hey friends! I'm still trying to get myself together with this new schedule and routine. I'm also having Fitbit issues. Seems that it's dying every other day or so. As an update to the health related issues in my life, I went to my MD for another physical and although I wasn't down much weight wise, my vitamin D is up, still not normal, but up, and my A1C is back to a normal level. My goal is to keep those things moving in the right direction.
As for June goals, not really sure how I'm going to measure some of my thoughts, but here they are:
100 miles - need to dial it back to something obtainable. I've missed majorly the last 2 months, so I'm going to focus on 100 miles. Hopefully I can keep enough of a charge in the Fitbit to get it!
Daily - if I am sitting at my desk all day, the goal is to get up every hour. Walk the dog more. Use the stability ball for some of the sitting, and use the stationary bike when I have to sit and listen to a conference call. So far, I've only been able to do that once, but I'm sure more are coming!!
I'm not a fan of the hot weather, and my summer miles last year reflected. To beat last June, I need to hit 83...guess my 100 goal is overachieving.
Here are my miles so far:
1 - 1.91
2 - 1.81
3 - 2.4
4 - 1.66
5 - .76
6 - 2.89
7 - 2.86
Total = 14.29 - definitely have some work to do!!

6/6 6666 / 2.74
6/7 10173 / 4.22 (1/10)
6/1-6/7
Steps: 52,045 (21% of 250k goal)
Miles: 21.44 mi (21% of 100 mi goal)
Daily step goal (6.5k): 6/7
10k+ days: 1/10
Slightly behind but not far. Work has been busy. I'm trying to stand at my desk the majority of the day and moving every hour during work.0 -

Enjoy your golf game, Lilymay! That will surely put some major miles into your day!
I am up early on a Saturday...my mission this weekend is to reorganize and ditch some of the clutter. I have to find an easier, more efficient way to live. Too much stuff equals big headache. So, taking the time today and tomorrow to see if I can fix the problem. That will leave up more time for play after work and on the weekends.
Have a great Father's Day Weekend everyone.0 -

I have a lot of good habits, but still have one or two that are not so great. Never enough water which is stupid, since I live in the desert. But work makes it tough. I just can't put the phones on forward whenever I wish. I am the only receptionist...and well, it just is hard. I will work on it however.
And my nighttime snacking needs lots of work. Will make a huge effort tonight so I can come back tomorrow and report I managed one dessert for the evening.
HAGDE...be who you imagined!
It's 4:45 here and I am up peddling. YAY!0 -
