Counting calories on LCHF diet?

Does anyone else count calories on the LCHF diet? My carbs per day tend to average around 20-35g net per day. I like to log my food in MFP to keep up with my carbs, but sometimes my calories can equal to 2,000 calories or more per day! I do, however, workout 5-6 times a week. Any input on this will be greatly appreciated!

My calories are generally 1600-2500, higher on major heavy workout days.0

I log my food, but I do it more so I can use that info to compare with my weight trends...and ensure that I'm eating enough because I'm NEVER hungry. Pretty sure if I didn't log I'd be around 1200 calories a day but I also workout 4-5 days a week.0

Ok, that make sense since I've always heard we should eat back some of our calories. Are you still seeing a steady weight lost when eating higher calories?

I count my calories. I eat about 1650 per day. I do this because the last time (chagrin face) I did keto, I tweaked and realized I lose best at this amount. I calculated at the keto calculator everyone here suggests.1

Wow, that's amazing! Most days I eat around 1500 calories but on my hungrier days, I can go a little over 2,000 calories0 -
Exceeding 2,000 calories a day isn't, in and of itself, a bad thing, especially if you're working out. Don't look at individual days, either, but rather, look at trends over a week or two. Some days, you'll be hungrier than others, and that's okay, as long as you don't force yourself to eat on the days you're not hungry, and don't forcefully limit yourself on days you are. Odds are good that if you follow your hunger signals and eat to satisfaction (not stuffed), you'll find it averages out over time.1

I see a lot of people on here talk about calories, I've only been on my Keto diet for a couple weeks but I quickly noticed that if I ate good whole foods in moderation that calories are not an issue. Might just tweek your diet a litte and ignore the calories. Good Luck, Stay Strong, and Master the Journey1

Lol last time I did the LCHF diet (back in 2011), I don't remember counting calories at all! I didn't even use a calorie counter, I only mentally kept up with my carbs for the day. I thank God I'm wiser now.1 -

You're right. I have noticed that I am more hungry on days I work out harder. Thanks for your help!0 -

Awesome, thank you! Good luck to you on your journey as well, sir!0 -
I'm a calorie counter too. I noticed a stall in loss around 2000 calories and dropped to 1750. I've been losing pretty steadily since. I also started walking but the last two weeks due to rain and commitments I've not been able to walk. I still lost last week so I think the calories had a lot to do with the stall. I don't intake more when I walk - which is about 5 miles. I walk with purpose and don't stroll.1

I'm 62, currently sedentary and fairly new to keto so yeah, I still count calories. For me, my year of weight loss and 2 years of maintenance have taught me that I when I eat more calories than I burn I gain (perhaps not true for everyone) and whether it is 40/30/30 or 10/20/70, it does not seem to make a difference regarding how many calories I can eat and not gain (also perhaps not true for everyone). I'll probably continue to count until I am able to grasp this idea of "eat until your satiated". I'm not there yet.
I will add though that going keto has enlightened me as to how often I hang around the refrigerator and pantry and stare into them. I'm not hungry so why am I doing this, I ask. SMH. Behavioral changes are in order.5 -
When I am actively losing, my calories average out to 1500, but they range from 1000-2000 day to day.
I stopped counting in maintenance but I let it creep too high and I started gaing again. 2000ish is my maintenance without exercise.1 -

I keep a watch on my calories but I don't really have a calorie goal if that makes any sense. I aim to eat around 30 net carbs or less. My calories usually hit between 1200-1400. Sometimes I have hungry days and other times days when I'm not very hungry. On hungry days I don't limit calories.
Edited to add: I am close to maintenance so not focusing heavily on weight loss right now. Also I'm very short...like 4'11 so that probably explains why I feel satisfied under 1400 calories.1 -
