Does anyone else have a really high TDEE according to fit bit

I am 5'8 and weigh about 205. Yesterday I got 17,500 steps. I walked on my lunch hour and both of my breaks. I also have a really nice under desk elliptical machine I pedal thru out the day with decent resistance on it. I lifted weights when I got home. I was also on my feet quite a while making dinner and my lunch for the next day. My fit bit says I burned 3100 calories yesterday. My really active days like that it usually says I burn 2700 to 3000 calories. Does this sound right? Seems crazy lol.

@Welcome2theHellmouth , as much as it may seem crazy, it is close to accurate. When I was wearing my Fitbit, working out and working on my feet most of the day I would easily burn 2700, 2800, even though I'm 5'4" and weight below 140. We think we don't burn as much, but with that activity level, we do. If your Fitbit has the heart rate monitor, it will give you a closer reading for your strength training. If not, it will give you a lower reading and you would have an even higher burn.

That's good to know! It does have a heart rate monitor. I hope it is accurate because after weight lifting I was starving and had 2600 calories that day!! Didn't even feel guilty!!!

Lifting will make you hungry, sometimes in the same day, sometimes the in the next day. Don't be afraid to eat your calories, you earned them!

Totally close to accurate. Most of your actvity on your Fitbit is all "cardio" based, which is what Fitbit does best. So yes, if it says you burned 3100, thats probably pretty darn close to your actual burn for the day, not including your weight training in there as well..

Amazing how much the body actually uses in a day, right? :)
    EAT!!! Lol!:)

Yes, my TDEE is really high. Even though I have a pretty low activity job, I have 4 children and am really active at home.in the summer spend a lot of time gardening when I can.
Even on 'normal' days like yesterday of no workout, no gardening, day at work etc. my TDEE on my fitbit was 3200. If I have an active day it can go up to 4000!!!!!!!!
Took me a long time to realise I could potentially eat that much and still make progress. I like fitbit for that. Just makes you reassess how active you are. Like I was thinking, I sit at a desk for about 4-5 hours a day, so I can't be that active, right? WRONG!
It's all the activity outside of workouts or NEAT that really adds up to a high TDEE.
Good news is, you get to enjoy more food, no guilt and still make progress, no make even better progress! Woo hoo!

Thanks guys!!!! That's why I invested in a good pedal machine under my desk. I figured all the NEAT would add up. I don't log it as exercise since I wear my Fitbit. Sometimes if it's slow at work I'll get to pedaling and my heart rate will actually get up pretty good!!!
