What are your favorite brands of Heavy Whipping Cream?
Is anyone concerned about carageenan?
How is the "Sarah Farms" from Costco?
I'm looking at doing 30 days of liquid food as an experiment --- here are some examples: https://diy.soylent.com/recipes?tags=Ketogenic
Ordinarily I don't do much dairy, but since I'll be hitting the whey pretty hard for this project, I figured I'd to HWC too.

I am able to get a brand called Snowville that is local to Ohio. Because it's only available at one store near me, sometimes I have to grab something else for convenience and I try to get whatever is organic. I figure it's my best option then.3

I just use Land O' Lakes, because it is literally the only HWC in any store around me, except Whole Foods, and seriously, *kitten* them.3

Organic Valley contains only organic grade A cream if you can find it so no worries about preservative or additives2
-
I just use the cheap stuff...no organics or good quality regularly available where I shop...2

Due to budgetary constraints, I buy the kind with carageenan in it because it's least expensive. What is the concern with carageenan anyway? I have done zero research on what it is and why it's less than ideal...3

I prefer raw milk products when I can get them, but not all states allow sale of raw milk products: http://www.organicpastures.com/cream/
Alternatively, I like Strauss organics: http://strausfamilycreamery.com/products/organic-milk-cream1 -
I use Organic Valley when I have the extra $$$; Land O Lakes when I don't. I prefer the flavor of Land O Lakes. I used to use their half n half too before LCHF!! I tend not to be picky about organic or not. I mostly shop according to my budget that week!!2

I buy store brand.0

If just concerned about carb content, Land o Lakes has 0 carbs.0

Checked out a different Costco location, and they had the 1/2 gallon of Horizon for 9.99 so that seems like a nice intersection of price and quality.
As you can see, I did my research:

That is a great price for 1/2 gallon!!!2

@dmariet116 - ALL HWC have 6.4 grams of carbs per cup, or I think it comes out to 0.42 carbs per TBSP. It's up to the manufacturer whether they round up or down or whatever. But the carbs are there regardless of what the label says. That's how most folks get away with saying "zero carbs," whether it is or not. By making the serving size small enough, anything can be reduced to almost "zero" carbs...9 -
@KnitOrMiss Good to know! Most labels state <1g per serving/0% daily value (obviously rounded down) but Land O Lakes label has 0g per serving/0% daily value so that's why I thought it didn't contain any. Thanks for the info!1

I'm a Minnesoh-tah native. OF COURSE I use Land O' Lakes! DUH!1

I didn't know LOL used carageenan. I have the shake the bejesus out of my hwc carton before pouring some out, or else the milkfat can be lumpy.0

Thank you for this! Not sure if the hwc at Costo is reason enough for me to reinstate my business member card - I think I have to just go back one of these days and have a look around with LC googles on and see what's new, too. Buying in bulk makes very little sense for someone like me, who lives paycheck-to-paycheck (hopefully not forever) and is single/lives alone. I got my card because I used to go shop with my mom (disabled) all the time...but it was pre LC/Keto days.

Well, it can make *more* sense in your situation, depending on what you purchase, because when buying in bulk the price per serving is often lower. But for LCHF since we eat more fat & meat we don't always get the bulk savings like people who buy sacks of rice and beans. I find that I get better meat deals when I cruise the sales at local ethnic grocery stores rather than hitting Costco. Coconut oil seems pretty similar between Vitacost, Costco, and Amazon depending on the month.
In your situation, finding a friend who has a Costco card probably makes the most sense.

Great tip.
I occasionally find really good deals on unfamilar brands of olives and all sorts of fermented foods at ethnic grocers.3 -

Forgot to mention I don't drive a car, and my nearest Costco is out in BFE, about 20 minute drive away. Not everyone I love and am friends with wants to shuttle me out to that territory, for sure. I use my local grocery store delivery service and am very happy with it, but like I said, it's been a few years since I've been out there, I wouldn't mind taking a look see, in terms of what's there for LCHF WOE since I was not following this lifestyle back when I last visited. Other than that, I don't believe I'm missing that much. I sure can't put a ton of bulk meat into my apartment freezer right now, and that's about all I can really imagine I'm missing at the moment.1 -

Thank you. I think I'll be buying the expensive kind from now on..... no idea it triggered inflammation. Could this be part of the reason I haven't lost in months?2 -
Yipes. Many individuals experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms (ranging from mild “belly bloat,” to irritable bowel syndrome, to severe inflammatory bowel disease) have noticed that eliminating carrageenan from the diet leads to profound improvements in their gastrointestinal health.

@DianaElena76 - I wish I even had that option. Of my 4 locals stores, there is not a single option without the additive...even the organic here has it. *sigh* #countdowntomoving0 -

@KnitOrMiss - Grounds for hope, perhaps?.... it seems that the some of the "healthy" positioned brands are moving away from it. According to Cornucopia's carageenan buying guide, many dairy products no longer contain carageenan.

Organic Pastures Raw Heavy Cream all the way!! You can only get it if you live in CA though...2

I've actually never looked for additives in my whipping cream as I do with everything else I put into my body. I just go to the milk section and look for whipping cream in a mini milk container. It's typically 35% fat and I had just assumed that it was just cream. I'm in Canada and normally use Dairyland or Lactancia Brand.1

I always buy Knudsen, but this post made me go to the fridge and check out the ingredients- surprise, there's carrageenan in my cream1
