Just got the call and hour ago. One month low carb, less than 2wks keto and all my blood work has improved! Those of you who have been at it longer, what is the best health benefit you have gotten from this woe?

Around how much did this bloodwork cost? Would I just get it at my regular doctor or is there a special lab? I would love to see if my numbers are good, even though I have nothing to compare it to from before keto0

I only had to pay my specialist copay, they draw the blood there and it's covered because she is treating me for PCOS & hypothyroid. Your regular doctor can (& should, annually) run labs checking cholesterol, insulin, etc.1 -
Hi you can call LabCorp..they run the largest blood testing labs in the USA..and ask for prices on various tests..just to have info. Some tests are called "a Panel" which covers several checkpoints.. ..so depends on what your doc wants to order, based on your health a Lipid panel is common.

Got my blood results today and my hba1c has gone up by 1 point to 7.3, normally this wouldn't be a win, but its my first test after going off insulin almost completely (still working on the overnights) I'm just on janumet now, so proud!
Funniest thing was my doctor saying I was low on iron and should be eating more meat. I actually laughed!6 -

@DJPiP3 - There are companies where you can order your own lab work for a discount - www.directlabs.com is one I've used before. You get drawn at Labcorp but your results are emailed to you. Tests that normally cost $200 they charge like $79 for, it's really a great option if you don't have insurance like us.4

@KatMac22072004 - One thing I've discovered about low iron is that it's practically impossible to absorb with low stomach acid and lacking digestive enzymes, so definitely worth checking into before doing much beyond eating more fatty nutritious meats!2 -
My last labs were about 5 weeks ago. My Dr said to stop taking iron supplements because I was too high. I never have taken them and hate multivitamins.1
