If you are satiated with less, you do not need to hit your fat macro. Fat should be eaten to satiety.
Carb and fat macros are upper ceilings, whereas protein should be the one you need to hit.
That being said, an 8oz ribeye has 50g of delicious fat!3 -
Just cook things in butter, add cheese or cream sauces when it makes sense and choose fattier meats when possible.
But you don't have to reach the exact fat macro goal every day. Just cook that way and eat tip you're satisfied. If at the end of the day you haven't reached the fat macro goal, but you're feeling satisfied, there's absolutely no reason to aim to get more fat2 -
any recipe that calls for milk, replace it with heavy cream. You can add HWC to morning coffee. Cook foods in butter, EVOO or coconut oil.2

All of the above are great ideas! Don't forget full fat salad dressings too! But yes, the fat macro doesn't need to be a goal to reach everyday unless you find yourself hungry! When you eat less fat your body will use what it already has stored, which is a wonderful accomplishment too!1

I kind of have the same question. I'm finding that my fat macros are typically running about 20 grams low and my protein are either where they need to be or over. However the scale is moving finally just within the last week or so. I'm finding myself intentionally adding butter Etc here and there just to move the fat macros up. Do I need to do that?2

As long you aren't feeling like you are starving and you are burning fat, then why change things? If you are adding butter in place of veg oil, then definitely do that.3

You don't need to think of that number as a goal.
Think of it more like this
If you're hungry between meals or just too often, you're probably didn't get enough fat in that last meal.
If you're appetite is well under control and you don't feel the need to eat every 3 to 4 hours then there's no reason to eat anything more at all no matter what the macros say. If you're not hungry, don't eat.5 -
If you need more fat, check out "fat bombs" on Pinterest. I just made some lemon cream cheese fat bombs last night. There are some really good ones, like the coconut macaroon fat bombs2

I just discovered fat bombs and made these coconut oil choc omg amazeballs, how do I keep to 1 a day, I love them. Google them lots of recipes out there.

That's exactly why I don't make fat bombs. I have control issues with sweets and we don't actually need to specifically eat fat like a lot of info you find online suggests, so they're really just desserts. I would eat them way too fast and too often if I made them1 -

Roast Pork and Sour kraut
Step 1. Roast pork in oven.
Step 2. Open jar of sour kraut. (this was the hardest step)
Step 3. Enjoy ad libitum. (One can only eat so much fatty meat before stopping)3 -
Thats true Sunny, I thought I'd scoff more than 1 today but Ivevbeen ok3

If you're able to control the amount consumed that's awesome! Keep on keepin on!0

That's always a good behavior to have.
I failed miserably when I made keto sweets. I'll make them again for sure, but I learned that I need to make them only for special occasions and stuff like that. I'm ok with overdoing things a few times a year.1 -

Coconut oil boosts ketones since it's short chain fatty acids require so little breakdown. They become ketones very quickly and the presence of ketones is thought to help with appetite control among lots of other things as I'm sure you already know. So, that makes sense. And, of course all that Lauric acid will be a nice slow energy source that helps put off the need for food for a while.2 -
I tend to add avocado or coconut oil to stuff to get my fat in!0

I think this is exactly why the scaled was 6 lbs higher this a.m. I'm eating too much low carb junk food and sweets. Just because it fits into my macros does not mean I should be eating it.2 -

That's what happened to me last fall when I decided to start trying some. I had to quit them just like the real junk I used to eat2 -
So I have a question. All the things I am reading say get the fats, meet the fats, and remember the fats... I have my goal at 140 fat grams. Some days I never come close. Is this okay? I have lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks. Please help0

If you are not hungry, you do not need to hit the fat goal. Protein is the target you want to hit, while fats and carbs are limits.
If you are at 100g of fat and you are satisfied, there is no need for you to drink shots of olive oil just to hit that goal.
Protein is to preserve your muscle mass as you lose weight.
If your carb limit is 25g and you're at 10g and feel good...that's great. No need to find 15g of carbs to fill it.0 -
Thanks so much... I read that too much protein can throw you off ketosis. I have mine set at 80-90 grams a day. I am 5 feet 9 inches and weigh 241 right now. Thanks again.0

That has been debated and I think that's only a problem if you have insulin resistance or diabetes.
But I think 80-90g of protein for someone at 241 is reasonable.1 -

I agree with you @Sunny_Bunny_ I make chia pudding once in awhile to satisfy a sweet tooth but i can easily eat the whole thing (its 4 servings supposedly lol). Which carb wise is not bad but calorie wise is A LOT. lol. I can't imagine how I would deal with fat bombs!1 -
I have not made fat bombs often. I found them to be really helpful in overcoming cravings for junk food. I only made one at a time because I did not trust myself to eat just one. However, they are SO incredibly satiating, I'm pretty sure that I would feel ill if I at more than one at a time.1

Second day with coconut oil amazeballs (fatbomb) no desire to eat a second at all. I was curious as saw them on many diaries so I researched made some, I dont like to critic unless ive tried, so far so good. Not much different from tablespoon of coconut oil in the morning.0

Where are you all finding the info on how much protein and fat? I'd like to adjust my nutrition goals.0
