So I went out of town this weekend with my best friend (who is also doing low carb). We had a great time and for the first day we ate really well. The second day not so much. We decided to have a cheat day yesterday. Went to this great mexican restaurant, pigged out on chips and salsa, beans and rice, and this super yummy chicken burrito. Long story short, I weigh myself this morning and I gained like 8 POUNDS in ONE DAY of eating bad?? Like how does that happen?? Is it water weight and bloat?? I'm just confused on how I can gain that much in a day.

It's probably water. I wouldn't worry too much. Unless you ate 28,000 calories. Give it some time and some low carb lovin' and it'll go down.1

Yes it's all water weight and bloat. Next time don't weigh yourself after lol. I usually wait about a week to weigh if I've been really off track. Don't stress about it, it'll be gone soon enough.3

I had a bunch of small stuff come together in much the same way and I gained 6 in less than a week. After going back to what I should be doing I dropped 9 almost immediately.2

Ditto the above. We've all been there. Stay off the ridiculous scale and get back on the wagon. That's the only way to handle it.1

I had the same problem and unfortunately it took me almost a week to get water out. Fasting helped if you can stand it.2

Ditto to all the above. I'm going on vacation in a few weeks and plan to eat as well as possible, preplanning, etc. But I'm also NOT going to get on the scale until for a few days, probably after a day or two of fat fasting.
Don't let one day torpedo you emotionally. Follow your plan and give your body time to burn the glycogen your liver stored up so it can release the water weight.
And tell the scale it lies!!0 -
Water weight is scary! But yeah that's what it is. It'll happen around your TOM too. Not fun!0

I had the EXACT same thing happen - went to my sister's for the weekend.... and we went to the fair... so bad I weighed myself this morning and figured I'd have gained a few back, but HOLY MOSES!! I'm going to wait until next week to check again to give my body time to get back on track.0
