What do you eat/drink/do to get through sugar cravings? I am having huge difficulties because the cravings are overwhelming.

Fat and salt help me with my sugar cravings.
So I like to make deli meat roll ups with a piece of salami or roast beef and place cheese and mayo inside. It is a great way to squash cravings.
Bacon helps too.1 -

I admit I drank diet soda to help. Many will say that's an absolute no no though....1

sugar free jello - I would not have touched it before WOE but it seems so decadent now - sometimes with a spritz of (count the carbs 3) aerosol whipped cream. I think I will go have one now.2

I like to put a pickle slice in deli meat and cheese roll-ups. I also mix cream cheese with whipped cream. The fat fills me up so my cravings stop.2

When I first started I would have some Carb Master yogurt (Kroger) with some dark chocolate shaved onto it. It has artificial sweetener in it, so if you're ok with that. As time went on, I really wanted to stop feeding the sweet tooth so much. I was having artificially sweetened coffee in the morning and that yogurt at night and then I went through a really bad time with making low carb desserts. I was eating waaaaaay too much sweet stuff in general and it was just making me crave more and more.
I cut it back little by little. For me, I had to stop sweetening my coffee. That seemed to be my biggest crutch. I still have a little something a couple times a week but now it's nothing with artificial sweeteners. I will choose dark chocolate 86% for me, 70 something is fine too. You can't overdo it on either one though. Or I'll munch on unsweetened coconut flakes. Or the sweetest thing I'll have every once in a while is I'll mix a teaspoon of coconut oil with a tablespoon of natural peanut butter, that's pretty good like it is but I usually mix in a teaspoon of chocolate protein powder too. No sweetener needed. There is some stevia in the protein powder...
You can also make yourself a trail mix baggie with almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes and dark chocolate chunks. You could even lightly dust it with unsweetened cocoa powder or a protein powder.
Another good choice would be some tea. There are really good flavors that don't even need sweetener, but you could add a little if you want it. Maybe even a creamy tea with heavy cream.
If you can go with a less dessert like option, it could help to starve that sweet tooth out like it did for me. Now, the little bit of sweet I do have doesn't seem to trigger the cravings. I really think it had to do with the frequency (habit really) and heavy artificial sweetener use that can make it more challenging.1 -
Eat something rich and strong tasting - strong cheese, bacon, pork rinds with blue cheese dip. Basically eat something even if it's not what you feel like. Pickles are supposed to be very good for turning off sugar cravings. I drink sweetened tea and sugar free sodas but some people may find they make them crave.1

Deviled eggs! When I'm craving sweets it's generally an emotional thing for me or an issue of someone else eating them in front of me. Deviled eggs are my favourite comfort food now. They quell all cravings for me lol.2

Thanks everyone. I'll try some of these ideas.0

I used some almond butter chocolate fat bombs and depending on where my calories were for the day, I'd have one or two for dessert. That was only the first couple of weeks though. And I haven't needed them since. I made this pazookie type thing for dessert tonight because my DM1 son asked me for something sweet he could have. They're only 4.5 net carbs and certainly enough to satisfy my sweet tooth and barely moved my BG. But best of all they are single serving and I'd have to make more, wait for them to cook and cool, definitely not an everyday thing.0

Chocolate paste. Some unsweetened cocoa powder, mixed with cream, (but just enough to make a paste, and not make it liquid), add a few drops of a flavour extract (orange, lemon, and strawberry are all yummy) and some sweetener to taste.
I also make lchf treats. I made some cookies the other day that are basically fat bombs. By the way, fat bombs are also awesome!
And then, I have to agree with the above. Usually when I crave sweets, it means I need salt. Some ketoade, in most cases, make the cravings go away.1 -
So hopefully this story will be a little encouraging for you - last night I decided to eat one of the no sugar added ice cream sandwiches I bought for my daughter who's dipping in to LCHF. I don't know what possessed me to eat it, but I was getting ice cream for Rowdy and decided "what the heck, it fits into my plan". I'd already eaten everything I was going to for the day and was actually headed to watch a little tv before bed. It was the most sickeningly disgusting sweet junk I'd ever eaten. It was terrible. And it's not because it was low sugar but because it was just way too much sweet food for me to eat now that I eat almost nothing sweet and especially not very, very dark if it's sweet. I couldn't eat it all. I'm not even a little upset about that5

I will continue my mantra of "bacon is the candy of meats!" When in doubt, bacon!6

I have a bag of salty macadamia nuts in my desk drawer at work. It really helps! Fat + salt = no cravings!2

I'd not thought of salt and have made it through a difficult evening by adding some salt to my drinking water and eating a meal of bacon, eggs and butter. Thanks :-)1
