My doctor doubled my current thyroid dosage for levothyroxine from 15 much to 30 mcg and liothyronine from 5 mcg to 10 mcg. I started Monday. I ached but attributed it to a long car ride. Yesterday, I ached more but attributed it to weather. I saw my pharmacist this afternoon who said the side effects I'm experiencing are not usual. I'm freezing wearing a sweater in a 78 degree car, can barely walk, have a terrible headache, aches, etc. My doctor called and said I probably have an infection at to go to Urgent Care. I'm waiting for my fiancé to get home from work.

Has anyone else experienced this? My symptoms got worse as the days/hours progressed.

I take levo only first thing in the morning, but my endo has me splitting the lio dosage into two...1 with the levo and 1 at 2-3 pm...

My levo dose though is 100 mcg, and my lio is 5 mcg x 2 pills a day...

I get achy bone pain without seeming trigger radiating out from the center of my bones, mostly my legs. Freezing wearing a sweater usually means LOW thyroid...not high...

That being said, my endo only ever moved me up by a single increment. So I went for 75 mcg (which I was told is the lowest dose of levo) to 88 mcg to 100 mcg... And that was over the course of a year or something. I was on 75 for a long time...still had bad numbers, went up to 88, 6 months later, still needed to bump up, so did to the 100 mcg...then added the 2.5 mcg lio (splitting the pills sucked), and then bumped up to 5 mcg twice a day. I can feel a CRASH 1-3 hours after the lio burns off/through, and so in October, I'm probably going to ask about the compounded extended release...

Hit me up with any other questions. I'll PM you my cell number, too.

    Info from Dr. Google...

    http://www.livestrong.com/article/254192-what-are-the-side-effects-of-a-thyroid-medication-overdose/

After visiting my endo two days ago and trying both increasing and splitting the dose, I immediatly feel better, though that could be relief and the increased dosage. I'm wondering if the high dose all at once was causing me to swing between hyper and hypo all in one day. I had a lt of water retention, which seems to be going down now with the increased dose and the split.

A dose increase will often give you unpleasant side effects for a few days or even weeks. When I first started on the dessicated thyroid, I experienced heart pounding at night, and this continued for a year. I also felt unusually hot (unusual because I'm one of those people who always feels cold).

What I do know is that you have to tweak you medication dose and the timing of it, if you takeT3, until you feel well. In my case, I absolutely have to take my dessicated thyroid twice daily or I don't sleep.

Thanks all. I had a fever of 103.5. Went to urgent care. Taking antibiotics until I can see a specialist in a couple of weeks. Will split my medications until then. Will try to stick with eating plan.
