OK I am doing a short ride with friends on Saturday and the 1/2 century version of the Harvest Century on Sunday. It's only going to be a hi of about 60ish deg and rainy today (yuk) so will keep it short and sweet today. Sunday will have a high of about 83 deg so should be nice for the ride.0

Heading out to the I M Canal tomorrow morning for a long ride. How long, I'm not sure. I have to be back home by a specific time since we are having dinner with friends. Weather should be pleasant.0

Big birthday party bash (DW & I both celebrating birthdays) so Saturday will not be a big ride. Maybe a 20 miler. Sunday, not sure...likely group ride.
Monday, which is DW's actual birthday, she wants to take the day off and do a monumental ride...conquer Gibralter Rd in Santa Barbara. It's an HC climb featured as a mountaintop in this years Amgen tour of CA. I'm not sure I'll be doing it. The whole ride will be about 60+ miles with ~7000+' of climbing. here is one possible route...https://ridewithgps.com/routes/16760861
Wouldn't mind taking a road trip to the cooler climes of the coast. Highs of 97F both Sat and Sun here.0 -
Hey Mark ya can do Gilbralter. You are a rock after all>0

Rock's don't gain weight, they only erode into thinner versions of their former self! So I am definitely not a rock! Gibraltar or otherwise. I went in to work today. DW and some friends are going to tackle the big climb. Going to be extra tough for them because today just happens to be the hottest day of the year in Santa Barbara. It'll be in the 80's along the coast but can get into the high 90's up in the hills.
Birthday party prep did not allow for a ride on Saturday. Sunday I was slightly hungover (such a rare event that it in and of itself is worthy of celebration!) so we slept in a bit and did a short 15 miler on the way to breakfast!. A noteworthy ride because it was very windy and we still had a good time, and I put a new seatpost on Sat morning (borrowed one from a friend) so I was constantly stopping and adjusting the saddle.
So a fun weekend, but not a lot of riding.0 -
I rode 64 flat miles on the I M Canal path on Saturday. It was very pleasant. Saw lots of birds and even a deer munching on some water lillies in a shallow area of the canal.
This ride put me above 1,000 miles for the year. I know that is nothing compared to most of you, but it is the most miles I've ridden in a year since 2005.0 -
I got 31 flat miles in on Saturday. Sunday I started out in good but iffy weather but wanted to get at least 10 miles in. At the 5 mile mark the sky opened up so I stopped and put my raincoat on. Road the remaining 5 miles home in a downpour. when I got home the bag was soaked, shoes were soaked (even with my shoe covers on), and I looked like a drowned cat. I did break 2700 miles for the year (don't know if I'll break last yrs personal best of 3850) but I know I'll get at least up to the 3000+ mark for the year.0

I see that Mark and some others have reported this on the Friday thread.
I had a wonderful just shy of 50 mile ride in the Harvest Century Ride on Sunday. I rode with a friend and his two teen-age boys. Lots of fun and only about 1300' more or less of total climbs. Really mostly a series of medium long rolling hills . The one "big climb" left off the hardest part by turning off before the tippy top. A pleasant surprise. Didn't reach 80deg+ until the last mile so extremely nice weather.
Sorry Mark about the heat where ya live.

Nice Job gadgetgirl. By no means do I think of 1000 miles as anything but great. Sounds like you saw lots of great wildlife on your canal path ride.
klmackey: Ouch. never fun to be that dârn drowned cat. congrats on your on the bike time this year. I just feel it is a real blessing for me to be maybe making 3000 this year with my time in the hospital and recovery. In my case I don't feel that great when I don't move enough for sure.0 -
