Totally off topic but since you are all so opinionated and well read, I am game.

Massive jolt on the bus sent me flying and my back has hurt since. So doc prescribed me naproxen and co-codamol. Fab, the drugs makes me feel drunk. Works yes, but I get high as a kite.

I believe the faster I can get the inflammation down, the faster my back and pain will heal, so any suggestions guys? I do not have a bath tub btw. Only a shower.

Can you break the pills and lower your dose? Sounds like you're taking more than actually needed. Lower tolerance being low carb and all...
Too bad about the tub. First thought is always magnesium bath... of course you knew that though.

I will be adjusting my dose for sure one quarter at a time to get there. No bathtub in sight so was hoping you knowledgable people would have some home made remedy or supplement that would help.

My lower back is burning hot, the GP says inflammation of the muscles in the lower back. Simple as rest, take the meds and go back to work once ready, which is what I normally do apart from I am an accountant, it is quarter end and I got deadlines coming out of my ears.

Heavy use of fish oil helped in my case starting 20 years ago and LCHF was the icing on the cake starting 2 years. Yes it seems about 100℅ of health issues stem from inflammation.

I get a turmeric concentrate from naturopath called Turmero. I think any high quality turmeric isolate might help. It's supposed to be an anti-inflammatory. Feel better soon!

My friend makes a homemade pain salve... I don't know what's all in it, but she swears by it... It's some sort of herbal and aromatic blend that uses a lot of natural painkillers, anti-inflammatories, and relaxants...

Dit Da Jow is a "rub" by Chinese apothecaries for years that's a "deep bone and muscle pain" treatment for after injury...

    Maybe magnesium oil?

Or Salon Pas pain patches? They're homeopathic and a staple in my random pain treatment...

You didn't specify what hurt, so this is kind of general and you can decide what fits best.

Yoga - if you are not in too much pain to perform the moves, particularly upward/downward dog, cat/cow, and cobbler/resting cobbler as these will help to loosen and realign the spine.

Feverfew - orally, nature's asprin without the stomach issues or blood thinning, anti-inflamatory, pain reliever, 1 capsule 2x/day

Arnica - also a pain reliever, available orally or topically - since it's a localized pain topically would be my preference

Tei-fu - topically, if you think this is a muscle issue as it is a muscle relaxer

Comfrey - topically (never ever orally), increases the rate of cellular replication and will heal just about any kind of physical trauma 4-10x faster than normal

I work at a physical therapy clinic and do quite alot including helping to treat patients and billing. First, it is suggested that you put ice on your back for the first three days. After, heat. I've found the heat VERY therapeutic. I threw my back out lifting heavy things and a hot shower loosened up the muscle. A hot pack works. You also may need support for your back such as a light back brace for posture. My doctor gave me muscle relaxers as well. I don't like taking medicine if I can find a natural way of doing things and besides, all they did was put me to sleep. It didn't help when I needed the pain to go away during the day.

Second, speak with a physical therapist, preferably one that practices cupping. I had physical therapy, fortunately it was free since I work at one, and received acupuncture, message therapy and chiropractic. I felt better after a while, but if I sat or stood too long I had the worse pain including the burning sensation. The only thing that worked for me was the cupping. It hurt at first, but it subsides and I felt warmth on my back. 5 minutes after I was done (10 min session), I felt like I could do back flips. It was fantastic. I haven't felt that good since before I had my first child (intermittent backache). The effects lasted me about a 1 1/2 months.

Third, I suggest speaking with a lawyer. You may not have to front the physical therapy bills and deal with possible lost wages if you already haven't done so.

    ICE!!!!!!!!!! ICE!!!!

When you are hurt is is SOP to ice for a couple of days. You can damage yourself by applying heat too soon. If you end up sueing to pay for damages, it is strongly recommended that you leave no electronic footprints, any where...even this board. You can bet your sweet bippy that their lawyers will subpoena all internet social activity, ids and passwords and use it against you.

Lower back, left hand side, just off my spine. No bruising but feels like someone punched me, and I walk like a little old lady who's lost her zimmer frame. I am fine sitting down as long as I do not move, reaching out, standing up and sitting down is my issues. As I fell I felt the twinge in my back, no immediate bad pain, but as the evening went on it got worse and worse. My doctor has it down as "sudden lower back pain" my back radiates heat, so you can feel the inflamed area by touching my back with your hand.

We have not got the whole sue thing in the UK, bus driver was not for fault, he only reacted and saved us from a crash, the idiot pulling in front of course drove off.

I got magnesium and fish oils coming and ice packs in the freezer. I have topical arnica at home. Feverfew I will need to research, I have thin blood and anything sounding like aspirin brings out the nerves in me. Aspirin makes me bruise badly and gives me uncontrolled nosebleeds (since I was about 5)

I will be checking with work if I can get any physical therapy to help me along. Thank you all, your answers and suggestions are most appreciated! I hope to be back doing mischief by the weekend :P

I wouldn't take feverfew or arnica if you have a blood thinning condition as both with cause a synergistic reaction with other blood thinners like aspirin.

Some forms of magnesium also act as an NSAID and might also react with you, so just be sure whatever form you ordered is not a form that has that property.

Thank you all, just up, still hurts badly. Have ICEd my back on and off since getting back from work. Taken my anti inflammatories. Got fish oil and magnesium. I do not have any blood clotting disorders, just naturally thin blood, which means I bruise easily and need to stay clear of blood thinners.

Hopefully it'll help me heal quicker, so thank you for all your helpful suggestions. I got a lot of hours in front of me in front of the computer this week. This little accident would have been so much better to have happened last week or next week when I do not have a myriad of meetings and deadlines.

@GaleHawkins how much fish oil do you take? You say a heavy dose? Double the recommended dose? I did that last night and this morning. Thank you.

As much pain-free slow gentle movement as you can handle, do not stay in any one position for long (easy to say but of course screws with your sleep). Long bed rest, couch rest etc are the worst things for a muscle strain after the initial 2 or 3 days. Curcumin is a potent anti-inflammatory agent but check with your pharmacist as it is also an anticoagulant: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12676044

    Ouch. :(

I found acupuncture to be a great help in the past. My acupuncturist also did some sort or gentle pressure thing, where I would move my leg against a force he provided.... I can't remember what it's called. Darnnit. Anyways, it worked wonderfully on a spasming back. I would walk in completely crooked and seized up and walk out mostly straight. It didn't address the underlying back problem but it help with the locked up back muscles immensely.

PT might be a good idea too. I ignored my back pain for years, r just did my own exercise to "strengthen my core". Wasn't smart. I eventually ended up with some permanent paralysis when a disc finally burst in my back. Go for PT if it continues to be a problem.

    Hope you are feeling better.

Can't find anywhere I mentioned hip circles. They work wonders for loosening things up - though admittedly, loosening healing back muscles can be a bad thing...

Thank you all, passed out this morning so currently in hospital where they have drained more blood than is needed to feed a vampire. I have internal bruising, but they are also looking into my complaints of nausea and vomiting. They should release me in the morning (I hope)

@Bonny132 - Good gracious!!! You take care. I hope it sincerely is nothing major - and merely some kind of temporary imbalance. Please keep us in the loop because that's scary as all get out.

Hopefully you are doing better now, or are at least getting proper treatment!

Any time you have adverse reactions to a drug - call the doctor.

If you still have back problems after the rest of your is cleared.....I'd highly recommend seeing a chiropractor. You could have knocked something out of alignment in the initial jolt.
