Maple Syrup Recommendations

So, I'm a Vermonter. That also means I am passionate about maples and everything related to them. Aunt Jemina fako syrup is not only disgusting, it offends me. There are restaurants here that will charge you extra if you order the fake stuff.

Problem: the maples are not cooperating with my low carb agenda. And I really don't want to blow a bunch of carbs on real maple syrup (tho I have toyed with the idea of putting a small amount in some butter to make maple butter).

So my question is this: are there any good real maple flavored syrups out there you've found? I've tried Walden Farms and it was awful.

Maple extract and I think ruled me has a good keto version. Lemme go see if I can find my recipe I saved.

    Found it! http://www.ruled.me/thick-sticky-maple-syrup/

I've tried multiple brands and honestly there's nothing like the real deal. I buy the sugar free kroger brand. It's not good but I mean, it's something. Kind of like how I feel about cauliflower rice, it's never going to be *as* good as rice, but I feel much better after eating that then eating a pile of chinese food.

The hersheys sugar free chocolate syrup is so bad it's almost offensive. The best one I've found is the smuckers sugar free hot fudge. Not what you asked about, just throwing it out there :)

I am here in Wisconsin, where it is now maple syrup season, so I know all about your struggle! The guy who runs the offices downstairs from me makes maple syrup, and it is soooo good and this year I might have to turn it down! :( I don't think anything will beat the original, unfortunately. Although the idea of maple butter does appeal to me!

No.... just NO! Real maple syrup has that lovely faint tree taste to it (I also like birch syrup) and as I live in Canada, it is sacrilege to use the fake stuff. That means I get to eat it only a few times a year, when I also have GF pancakes. 11% Greek yogourt, real maple syrup and GF pancakes, or waffles baked in the oven in my silicone waffle pan. There will never be a good enough sub for this IMVHO. :'(

I see that Walden Farms has a "Maple Walnut Syrup" which I haven't tried. I have bought their "Pancake Syrup" which is sweet and syrupy and innocuous. Not great, not offensive. And, of course, not maple. Oddly enough the Pancake Syrup makes a pretty good ingredient for a low-carb teriyaki sauce, a tip that the owner of a local diet center gave me.

Other Walden Farms products that I've tried were beyond awful.

Yeah, pretty much this OP. Through trial and error of buying and trying what is offered to us LCHFers out there and attempting to make your own at home, you will find that absolutely nothing comes close. :'(:/

Agreed...Walden farms products are either hit or miss meaning you either love them or hate them. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground where they are concerned. I've had some good and bad experiences trying their products myself. I keep the good ones and desperately try to forget the bad ones (so far I haven't forgotten the bad ones)!! lol
