What's your favorite running accessory?

I'm going to go with just my phone. I use it to run my gps, fitbit, music, run apps (zombie run and charity miles), and now I will even pull up pokemon go if I'm in a known good location (I won't leave it on because of battery drain). It is weird but I usually have 4-5 programs going on my phone before I take off.
Although now I'm going to have to look into Bluetooth headphones since they seem to be popular.4 -
My dog! Does she count? If not, then my second favorite is my Garmin Fenix 3. Love, love, love it for running and hiking. Before I got it, I would have said my phone, as I like both the Run Meter and Zombies, Run apps.3

LOL, me too! Now I even got the stupid Pokemon Go app going to hatch eggs... I worry whether I'll finish a run with any battery left.1 -
Beats by Dr. Dre Powerbeats² Bluetooth Wireless In-Ear Headphones - Blue
And I jog with my dog so I love his jogging collar/bungee leash/belt that wraps around my waist so there is no tugging on my arm while we jog. Has light reflectors too.

I can't pick one.
In no particular order - although I do think I wouldnt be able to live without it so maybe it is #1 - my Garmin.
It's a toss up between my running socks - Balenga, Swiftwick and Feetures (they've been my #1 go to lately but they were a Mother's Day gift too so they have the attachment thing going for them) and my running visor. I sweat so much and glasses get fogged up/wet. The visor keeps the sweat somewhat at bay, keeps the sun out of my eyes but not as warm as a full hat.3 -
These Sherpa gloves/mittens have been my constant companion this winter (I'm in southern Australia).
I've worn them every day. I can use my phone easily while running by just flipping the ends back.
I also put little hand warmer bags in the mitten bits when on walks, when I don't get as warm as when I run.
Best $20 I ever spent.

My Garmin watch would have to be #1, but closely behind are my hydration belt and my Bluetooth headphones. ❤❤❤1

I love my Buddy System leash which lets me take both my dogs with me and leaves my hands free. I also dig my Fitbit Blaze. I don't really have any other accessories, but I am eye-balling those Flipbelts; I think I could use one.1

My favorite accessories are my BeSportWise running belt and my Nike visor. The belt holds my phone and keys (and my ID if I remember to bring it), and the visor keeps the sweaty hair out of my eyes. I am considering wearing the visor on the treadmill because the sweaty hair thing is getting annoying. (I have short hair and can't pull it back.)0

Garmin 920xt
Flip Belt (I haven't noticed mine getting heavier, but I love no phone bounce at all)
Yurbuds
RockmyRun
Tifosi
IronDoggy Leash when near roads
and Pokemon Go HA!

lisadecker - I love my flipbelt because I can't stand the phone armbands. The Flipbelt doesn't bounce.0 -
AND all my shoes running, trail... have lock laces0
-
@SaraCondon I am trying to decide between the Flipbelt and a Spibelt right now. I am leaning toward the Spibelt, I think, since I could maybe attach my leashes to it and just have the one belt instead of two. I also like the race toggles for when I start doing races again.
I got a pair of Xtenex laces for my Newtons and have been wearing them for a couple of days now. I like them quite a bit, though I think I still need to adjust them a bit; I think my fit could be a little better. I may try some Hickies on my other shoes to see which I like better.0 -

@vs_shine Thanks for sharing this, I'm going to check it out. Just curious about how big is your dog and how tall are you? I'm a bit worried about it working for a smallish dog and a tall person.2 -

Don't laugh but....for my winter running my hands and thumbs were always freezing. I tried everything! Then in a raffle at a golf tournament I won a pair of Titleist fleece handwarmers designed to be pushed up onto your wrists to swing then slip them back over your fingers to keep them warm. There loose enough to wear since they don't breathe and your fingers and thumbs stay together. I can run comfortably in them down to about -5 degrees unless it's windy. Then I can layer them over my running gloves. In the winter if the temp is under 20 I never run without them!2

@mwstewart207, that's actually a great idea! One spot that seems to get cold before the rest are my wrists for some reason. I think these would help with that while still allowing me to use my fingers for my GPS, phone, or whatever. Thanks for bring this up!0 -
Thought I would add an update with something I fell in love with last year. Amphipod Hydraform Ergo-Lite Ultra handheld water bottles. They are insulated, have a pocket big enough to hold large smart phones, keys, extra fuel, electrolyte tablets, small dogs, etc and have 3 straps along the outside that you can use to carry even more. I have 2 of the 20 oz bottles as I don't mind that extra size/weight based on my size. I have used them on road races (see my profile pic) and for trails (bought them for trails specifically). You don't really notice they are there, it's just part of your hands. One thing I can attest to is that on falls they don't get lost, or even come off in most cases, and provide protection to your palms as the bottle itself will cushion your fall. Easy to use, just squeeze, and there is enough resistance to prevent most all accidental squirts (falls excluded). Wide mouth to accomodate ice or pouring in fuel/electrolyte stuff.
Flipping awesome bottles!
You can also manage to fit a single 12oz can of your favorite beverage in the pocket. Seriously. I have not run with that though, so no promises on the post run satisfaction with said beverage.
I also have not tested it with small dogs in the pocket. But I'm certain some Chihuahua out there might enjoy the ride. Just don't use the device as cushioning during a fall when transporting small animals.5 -
i don't go running without my Garmin Forerunner 235, its motivating to see the distance, speed.. and I check regularly my pulse to slow down or speed up if needed. Plus after run I like to see the data and compare results :-)1

I always need my phone, bluetooth headphones, and running belt (with water bottles for the long run or without for shorter distances).0
-
My Flipbelt and my Bluetooth headphones.0

@WhatMeRunning - Is the bottle on that collapsible? I think I need to bite the bullet and finally replace my ancient Nathan's 10oz hand-held. I would like something with a bigger pocket than my current hand-held, but I have small hands, so I am worried about the bottle size being too big.0
-
@lporter229 - The bottle is easily squeezable. Not technically collapsible though, it maintains its shape.0
-
Hard to choose... my Garmin watch, my Balega socks, or my Bluetooth headphones.
I think I have to pick the socks!1 -
Well since I last posted here I acquired a Garmin Forerunner 735XT, and I can't live without it. It never leaves my wrist except when I have to charge it (usually when I'm in the shower). Can't imagine running without it anymore.1

I have two...
This
Wrap-around-glow arm band for night/early-morn runs
and this to keep hydrated
Bottle holds 12 ozs and once empty you can scrunch it up and tuck it in your pocket

For now, I would have to go with my Garmin Forerunner 235, Jaybird X2 BT headphones and my SPIbelt. I like the belt because it doesn't bounce or move at all.0
-
Gosh. Hard call.
Body Glide is way up there though. Only took 1 run worth of chaffing to learn to keep that stuff on hand!
After that, gosh my Plantronics IPX7 Waterproof Blue Tooth headphones+Audible+iPhone as a single "thing" since all of them are needed to listen to audio books. I would run with out my watch, but not with out my books. I only turn them off for races, and even then sometimes I have them playing.

Having not been able to run in the last week has made me realize that my favorite running accessory is the company I have from all my MFP friends. Lame. Sure. I have conversations with many of you on my run. And it's great company.
Do you still talk to them on your run, if so how? I could not imagine trying to read and type while running! Some days it is a challenge to even just run and breathe at the same time with out tripping!0 -
I would have to say my apple watch and my shuffle. My watch syncs up with a few of my programs so it seamlessly tracks and records my times and splits into my apps and MFP and my music for cadence and some mindless zen time I like the shuffle as it clips to my shirt collar with short buds so no long cord to tangle or catch0
