Let's talk about Bulletproof Coffee

I use a plastic 1 gallon tea/lemonade pitcher and as mentioned, use the immersion blender. Works great and I can blend up to about 10 cups without worrying about splashing. The pitcher is pliable enough that it won't crack either due to the heat.1

@RowdysLady do you drink the 10 cups in a single day? Also, what ratio of other ingredients do you have? I'm trying to wrap my head around 10 cups!1

Much more than 2 cups would send me fleeing to yonder porcelain throne.0

LOL no I've never had 10 cups. Anna will drink it too. I usually drink 6 though and use the proportions I mentioned in that post you saved to your wall. If I make 8 or 10 cups then I double the fat and slightly increase any "extras" I may use. If I drink 8 (on occasion I do) it's over about 4 hours and is breakfast and lunch.1 -

I think my time issue is measuring out all the additions (butter, coconut oil, cream, spices if I want) so I'll have to try making individual bulletproof packs to speed up the process.
@BT_rescuemom I would take really small containers and pre-measure everything at night so it's ready to go in the AM. You could keep em in the fridge or freezer.0 -

I use ice cube trays. One for coconut oil, one for butter, cover and stick in the fridge. I always have a perfect serving of either when I need it. They pop right out of the trays with a spoon. But if you want to pre add things like sweetener there are always those useless rubbermaid containers that we get when we buy a set....they would be perfect. Stack, have lids, fit nicely in the fridge and would be large enough to hold all the ingredients.2 -
Had my first BPC this morning. I used a Starbucks Caramel K-Cup to make a cup of coffee. Took that and added 1 TBSP Kerrygold butter and 1 TSP Coconut Oil...threw it in the Nutribullet and wa lah! I actually liked it. My initial thought when I first heard about this was "eh butter in coffee?!" But once blended the butter makes it just creamy enough.2

I like it but got away from it when my blender broke. This morning I had no blender and was out of coffee so I put coconut oil and butter in a measuring cup, nuked it, and made super hot caramel apple flavored tea. Stirred it together with one packet of Stevia and a dash of almond milk. Yummy. But now I'm out of tea (getting out grocery list and adding to it.)1

I`m a black coffee drinker. Since on keto, I`m always so full, I`m struggling getting past my 1000 kcal a day. So to up my fat intake, I started bullettproof coffee with 2 tsp coconut oil on a normal size cup of coffee (blended on highspeed). I thought it was palatable and creamy. Thinking to add a drop of pure vanilla flavour, cause it could do with some extra kick. May try that tomorrow morning.0

@Zilia81 I would not worry about getting in all your cals or fat. If you aren't hungry, don't eat. The time will come that you are eating way over because you can't seem to get full. It's been horribly cyclical for me but I've consistently continued to lose weight so I go with it.
and BPC is wonderful with vanilla in it or peppermint extract.1 -
@RowdysLady I was getting a bit worried tbh. Glad somebody else had experienced it. Perhaps it`s my "holiday" feeling and that I`m nice and chillaxed. Lets see how it goes next wekk, when I`m back in the office. Currently looking for some easy to make fat bombs to take with me, so I don`t get the munchies.0

I pre measure my fats into ice cube trays and keep in the fridge. They pop right out. While my coffee is brewing I put my ingredients into a plastic pitcher. Once coffee is done I add it and froth with immersion blender. Takes only about 2 minutes longer than it takes for coffee to brew. I hated messing with butter and coconut oil and now it's easy peasy.
I finally did the ice cube tray thing this week, and it was a lifesaver!
I put the pre-made cubes in a quart-size Mason jar and stick that under the Keurig. After the coffee is brewed, take the Mason jar upstairs to my bathroom (so I don't wake the baby) and use my immersion blender to froth it up. Pour into my favorite mug that NO ONE BUT ME is allowed to use, and all is right with the world.5 -
I have not succeeded in adding salt to my BPC. Today I made BPC with 2 cups of coffee, 1 Tbsp MCT oil, 2 Tbsp HWC, 1 Tbsp butter, cinnamon, 1/2 scoop collagen, 1 tsp potassium, 1/4 tsp magnesium and 1/4 tsp salt. Used my blender to mix. The salt is very overpowering. Perhaps I'll try Lite Salt in lieu of the potassium and salt or I'll just reduce the salt to 1/8 tsp.0

is your butter salted or unsalted? If its salted, that maybe the reason its overpowering. Of course, you could always omit it from your BPC and just add it into other foods throughout the day0 -
I tried it Saturday morning with 2 cups coffee, 1 TB coconut oil and 2 TB half and half. I was underwhelmed. But my lips felt amazingly soft as I rubbed the oil in after each sip!
Today I tried 2 cups coffee, 1 tsp of coconut oil, 2 TB half and half and some SF Torani caramel syrup. MUCH better! I'm fine with black or cream only coffee, but with the oil needed the flavor I think. I'm also going to add cinnamon to the grounds tomorrow and slowly up the oil.
Both days I used my immersion blender to froth it up.0 -
Alright I set myself up yesterday with a trip to Walmart - I bought an immersion blender for BPC! I haven't tried it out yet but I'm sure it's much quieter than a blender.
I also got a waffle iron, a few things of 90% chocolate, natural PB (very low sugar) , sugar free strawberry jam, sugar free maple syrup.. a whole low carb haul! Very excited to try it all out.0 -
Here's my time saving solution for mornings:
Individual pucks of butter and coconut oil. I'll just weigh them when I put them in my cup. I did this with a silicone mini muffin tray.4 -

No my butter is unsalted. To be honest though I think I am going to cut back on BPC and use my collagen, magnesium. potassium, and salt in a modified version of an electrolyte drink I found on ketodietapp.com which I made this weekend and it was...decent. Tasted like a really tame lemonade not full of sugar and diabeetus. I feel like I haven't be getting as much nutrient varietny since having BPC almost regulary.0 -

I'm not quite sure why I was surprised that using coconut oil in food makes everything taste like coconut -- bleah. That's why the 54 ounce jar I bought at Sam's Club now lives in the bathroom, doing duty for probably the next decade as cuticle oil, hair mask, eye makeup remover and so on. You either like the taste of coconut oil or you don't.1

@mandycat223 not all of them taste like coconut. I buy Carrington Farms or Crisco brand and have not noticed that. I hate coconut too...so give one of those a try maybe?0

Any of the refined or ones that don't say virgin will have no flavor.0 -
I drink it to, but I have found myself wondering, is it truly healthy for you? Is all that fat first thing good for you? Are you better off eating a good breakfast vs. doing the BPC? I don't know.0

Ok - I tried using the immersion blender for my coffee, and it made a GIANT mess.. LOL. BPC may be a weekend only thing, or maybe I'll stick to making bullet proof tea at night0

I fill my travel mug halfway and immersion blend it for a minute or two. Then I fill it the rest of the way and just pulse a couple times. If I use the blender while the mug is full, it shoots up and over the edge.1 -
I have a plastic cheapy tea/juice pitcher I use. I can blend up to 10 cups at a time in it with the immersion blender, no fuss, no muss. Then I just pour into my coffee cup. If I have more coffee than my cup holds (almost always) I take the pitcher to my desk and refill.0

I drink on occasions and I like the taste of it. Definitely works better when used in a blender. I recently read an article on blog about an alternative to it for women called rocket fuel latte.0

I ordered some cocoa butter and have been using it in different combos to see how it tastes. Butter, HWC and cocoa butter with a little cocoa powder is YUM! I also used a little liq splenda. It tastes like dark chocolate.0

I did try blending it once, but wasn't a fan. Recently, I picked up some 0 carb hazelnut flavoring. I've been using that now with my concoction.
This is basically the only way hubby and I like it. We just drop our chunks of butter in the coffee, then put in a heaping tsp of coconut cream concentrate and our MCT oil. After that we stir with a spoon and drink it all gone. Yum. Sometimes we'll add a dash of cinnamon too.
