They've just started advertising this. Supposedly 5.4g carbs for 2 slices. So I bought a loaf and yesterday I had 2 slices with egg for lunch instead of my normal baked chicken/egg etc. 15g carbs for the whole day including this bread. By 2pm yesterday I was starving. By the time I got home from work I had a headache. This morning I am not in ketosis. 5.4g carbs? I don't think so. I feel like I ate an actual sandwich. I've sent their website some feedback - I really hate false advertising - especially when they say it's suitable for diabetics and such. It's really no different to any other whole grain bread.

I just bought a loaf, i haven't tried it yet. It looks like dense brown bread to me, and very pricey :open_mouth:

I'm not keto, so not too worried about that, it just irks me to waste 30 something carbs on regular bread!!.
Was it filling? It looks and feels filling lol

It was dense, yes. Moist and full of grains - which I shouldn't have eaten. It wasn't "filling" though - I was hungry 2 hours later. Like really hungry. The kind of hungry I haven't felt in months (probably the last time I ate something carby). I have nearly two loaves of $7.50 bread in the freezer I'm unlikely to eat.

Hmmm.... depending what WOE you are on, I have had Herman Brot and find it very dense, and only edible if you toast it. If you are simply LC and not KETO, I find that Burgen Soy and Linseed a lot easier to eat, both as a sandwich and toasted. Two pieces has 19.9g Carbs, however 5.6g of fibre. If you only look at net carbs, 14.3g Carbs for a daily sanga isn't too shabby, and I don't find I am hungry afterwards. Each to their own... :)

I'm not too keen on the taste of the Herman brot, I'll finish the bag but won't be buying another loaf.. Way too expensive for something that tastes so so.

I emailed the producer and they sent me back a heap of "proof" but I am not convinced. You can see it's whole grain bread. It's very dense, and you're right - only edible if toasted. But yes, it's $7.50 per loaf and after 4 years on keto I'm pretty in tune with how foods affect me, and this "low carb" bread affects me like eating any other carbs. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Just annoys me that they can advertise products like this.

Just beware when you use "2 slice" entries from the database. I sometimes eat Helga's soy Linseed, and the 71g per 2 slices that it says on the label has been between 100-102g for 2 slices every single time, which majorly increase the carbs AND calories! Worth weighing bread, for sure!
I noticed the Hermans was spot on though, obviously they are bit more careful as their ingredients are a tad more expensive than what's in regular bread...
