Fat Fast

I'm about 5lbs from my goal weight and have been lingering around my current weight for a month, so I think I will try my first ever fat fast. I have been staying around 15 carbs daily for the last 3 months. I normally keep my calories pretty low so I do not think it will be too bad, but I was hoping to gather some favorite food items from those that have fasted before. I've read some old threads and have a few ideas, but not enough for 3-5 days.

How long are you planning to fast?
Being close to goal weight, supplementing with some pure fat is a good idea since you don't have enough bodyfat to sustain you.
There's an interesting discussion on ketogenic forums about it here

I'm not sure this is viewable without being an established member of the forum. Hopefully it is.

What has your caloric deficit been this month of 0 weight loss?

Kirkor, not sure what my deficit has been. In general I try to stay around 1200 calories. I'm 5'2", small frame and nearly 50 so losing and keeping it off is a huge challenge over that caloric intake.

Help...I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong but I have lost 0 after 3 days of fat fasting. My fats are staying around 83%, 5% or less in carbs and 11% protein with caloric intake of 1200. I had a few thoughts on this, first would it make a difference if I was at 90% fat? Also, do I need to drop my calories down? Eliminate the nuts? I was thinking it may be harder for me since I'm close to my goal weight but my husband that still has 20lbs to lose has not lost a thing either. Also, not sure if it matters but we have been running a few miles 3x a week and getting in a couple of weight days. Any advice?

Is the exercise a new thing? You do sometimes store water to repair muscles and such. Personally I'm always a pound or two about my lowest weight when I'm working out regularly. How are your measurements and how are your clothes fitting? Sometimes people find they are losing inches but not showing that in scale weight. To me measurements and clothing are a better indicator than hitting an arbitrary scale weight.

I think you should read that link I posted. What you're describing isn't really getting into a fasted state.
It's a very low protein version of normal keto eating. If you don't get into a fasted state you will sacrifice too much lean mass.

Try fasting and adding pure fat like butter or coconut oil or MCT without any carbs at all or any protein to achieve a fasted state.
Just read the link. I don't explain the idea well.

Do not go straight into another version of fasting without first going back to maintenance eating for several days though.

Also, you may not see any weight loss on a daily basis but over several days it may start to be measurable. And water fluctuations can easily hide it temporarily. Don't freak out

You might also benefit from a refeed for a leptin reset. How long have you been dieting? Give yourself a week at maintenance calories, then come back down to a deficit.

Thanks for the input, I will give myself a reset this week on maintenance, then give this a whirl again. I will take measurements next time, maybe there was some movement there.
