Did you swim today?

No but decided to try the rowing machine. First time I've touched it in about 18 months because I hate it and it's instant death. Was fun for about the first 36 seconds then increasingly awful. 5000m in 25:45 and the blisters are already popping up!0

AM Swim in a crowded pool before work. 5 people/lane so again making it hard to get into a rhythm.
Free and Breast 40 lengths = 1000m.
Sat on my @ss all day driving, 350km to a job site, just to find that the Network Servers and Computer Routers were not operational and they had no time line on when they would go live. Considering they were supposed to go live last week. So my day was wasted, turned around and drove 350km back home.
Got home to late for another swim and just didn't have the motivation/energy for a run.0 -
@juliet3455, thank you for the info!0

Rehearsal-- i mean swim practice-- is going well. Two weeks til opening night! ~80 minutes, maybe 66 laps?2

4500 yards @ 85 minutes
So my typical workout, but I tried something different towards the end on my last set of 10 x 50's. I am typically a two beat kick sort, and I worked in 6 beat kick on the freestyle portion. I have always done a faster kick on backstroke so that was no different. Wow, it feels very different. I may have to play around more with this.0 -

I could really feel the weak points in my stroke when doing the one arm drill.
That's a drill that I will keep in my personal list. I definitely could feel how my kick and stroke affected my speed/rotation in the water. Will recommend that drill to anyone/everyone.
On Front Crawl it worked best to leave my non-swim arm ahead of me in stream-line position, and I did 2 stroke breathing.
On Back Stroke it was the other way around, non-swim arm at my side.
Really makes you concentrate on kick efficiency.
When you go from 1 arm to full swim you feel like a Olympic Athlete in the speed you suddenly have and maintain for the full 25m.1 -
7250 y for the week, shoulder is feeling much better. Rest and pad thai for the win!1
-
4000 @ 75 minutes - elbow is sore, so sorting out what is causing it so that I can continue while it heals. I have a feeling it is something I am doing on my flip turns...oddly enough. Rest it over the weekend.0

80 minutes today-- that's 4X this week.
It will be weird when I get done with this play and go back to counting laps!2 -
1200m of mixed strokes. Back, Front and Breast.
1 double lane and 6 swimmers and we were all very different abilities. So it was hard to get a rhythm
Did a bunch of the 1 arm Back Stroke and Front Crawl drills, I really like them and they will be a regular thing in my routine. Still it was a swim so all is good. Also threw in some flip turn practises and dolphin kick. Sometimes it seems like the small broken - disorganized swims offer the most technical improvements.1 -

Need new goggles - mine only have two settings - bathing my eyes in chlorine or cutting off my cerebral blood flow. And sometimes both at once.
Also learned that swimming the day after going on the rower = dead arms!0 -
@emmab0902 You should try swimming after a HM = dead legs = No kick, and as a Male recreational swimmer I only have 40-60% of the kick power/technique that ladies have so get the float fins out to save the day. Goggle trouble is always frustrating. It took me 3 years to find a replacement, the manufacture discontinued the model I was using and I was grumpy.1

First swim of this coins trip last night.
More people doing front crawl.
Actually had the lane to myself for about 10 minutes.
It would still be nice if the life guards kept slow people out if the one "fast" lane.
Kept lapping a breast stroker in less than 2 laps.
