Week 3: Are you praying?

Matthew 26:41 says, “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Excerpt taken from Life Management for Busy Women by Elizabeth George:
“Managing your life for God is a spiritual work, responsibility, and stewardship. And because our lives include physical bodies, those bodies must be managed. Therefore, the body’s management falls into the spiritual realm, meaning you and I must pray earnestly and consistently about our bodies. Like the apostle Paul, we must pray not to be disqualified spiritually by an out-of-control body (I Corinthians 9:27).
Are you trying to shed a few pounds? Then pray about the 20-plus food encounters statisticians tell us we face every day!
Are you trying to do a little exercising? Then pray to remain strong in spirit when your workout hour arrives…and you are soooo tired!
Are you learning to make better food choices? Then pray (before you “fall” on your food – like the sinful Israelites did!) to follow through on what you know will make you feel better, live better, and be a better servant to God and others."
Why not pray daily for your health goals and the goals of those in this community? Prayer is one mighty spiritual weapon we can wield to manage our food choices so that God is glorified!

I pray that we will make good food choices. I thank you, God, that we have strong, healthy bodies and are able to exercise. I pray we would be a people who glorify You, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.1
