@rugged1529 - Yes, that is what I do. I take a 400 mg dose in the AM and in the PM. I think your individual dosage will vary by person, more to your own body systems and efficiencies than necessarily to weight. Since magnesium is used in over 300 bodily enzymatic processes, we need it... Most medical professionals recommend you start with the lowest dose you can, and increase slowly over the next few days. You can tell what your need level is because when you get too much, you will have bathroom/digestive response. Then you dial the dosage back one increment, and that is supposed to be your level.
As you can see, @kpk54 needs to take far less than I do, but I have a feeling I had a deep level of depletion from eating very poorly for nearly 2 decades. My body is still replenishing stores, plus my electrolytes have been very...out of sorts for a while now, so that probably makes my needs a little higher, since they don't level out easily.
I believe the medical recommendation is between 400-800 mg a day... But it really depends, because if you're eating a bunch of magnesium heavy veggies, you won't need to supplement as much. If you take epsom salt baths, your body will absorb it. Same with using a magnesium massage oil, lotion, or spray...
I haven't dropped enough weight that I noticed a reduction in my magnesium needs...0 -

I currently use Doctor's Best Brand Chelated Magnesium Glycinate 400 mg (and get it on Amazon, though I just found a local place that carries it.)
I've also previously used Thorne Research Chelated Magnesium Citrate, 135 mg. On this one, I used about 3-4 doses a day (2/1 or 2/2), so it required less, but it is more expensive. I also wasn't hard keto yet when I was taking this one.
I have also tried KAL Magnesium Glycinate, but I hated it. Others here absolutely LOVE it... So it's a very personal choice. I use Sunfood's Magnesium spray. I usually use one spray before I go to sleep. If I need two sprays, my body (leg cramps) lets me know. I have a hard time swallowing pills so a spray is nice. This stuff is quickly absorbed and doesn't leave a sticky residue like other mag sprays.

I might have to try the spray because I take 17 pills (variety of supplements) a day, and ugh... so tired of pills and trying to figure out when to take them while IF.3
