Please help me. I've been on low carb for two months. First month I lost 13. The second month I've now gone up and down in the same 4 pound range. My macros are correct, my calories are correct. I'm getting at least 8 cups water, sometimes more. The only thing that is lacking is exercise.... I do walk daily in the classroom (teacher) and with my dog. I go to the gym at least twice a week for cardio... But does anyone think it might be anything other than that??? Do I need to carb reload so my metabolism doesnt slow? Any suggestions would be great.

Coconut oil and green tea will boost your metabolism if you're worried about that. I've read a carb refeed isn't a good idea because it'll kick you out of Keto. I've seen people talking about a fatfast, haven't tried it, but maybe you could?0

Just need more time.
You will never lose like the first week ever again. That's a totally unique loss being a lot of water.
If you're doing everytg by the same, you are most likely losing fat even if the scale isn't showing you.
Not losing for a week isn't a stall. Not losing for 4-6 weeks is considered a stall. However, I don't believe in stalls. Find my lost in the FAQ called "There's no such thing as a stall".
You'll see how I actually put on weight without exercise but lost quite a bit of fat from my belly, hips and legs. Without losing a single pound in over a year. I certainly qualified to call it a stall but I was losing fat the entire time. I was not stalked at all.3 -
I recently posted about being stuck. I was given a lot of advice. What I did was drop my net carbs to 20 from 40. This morning, I was finally down!6

Hey guys..I've hit a wall since Christmas I have losto the same 4 lbs and gained them and lost them. I'm about to cry because even my pant size hasn't dropped. I've lost 45lbs all together since last April and my goal was 80lb. I walk 20000 steps a day . I had a ligaments tear over the summer and everything's repaired but am not able to do squats or run. I'm so depressed. I am happy about the major loss but this scale hasn't budged. Any advice?0

The number 1 thing that helped me in weight loss and has helped me in maintenance is being absolutely honest about how much (calories) I am eating. All y'all might be more "honest" than I but I really try to fib to myself sometimes. Just because I didn't put it in my diary doesn't mean I didn't eat it. Self deception. May not apply to anyone but me.7

Sometimes your body needs to play catch up. You don't gain all that weight in a few months, It will take time to remove it. You body needs to heal from all the abuse you put it through. It is a hard lesson, but I have finally realized that the body needs time to adjust. I am a very slow loser, I have gained and lost the same 30 lbs. for so long, all I wanted was to drop the 30. This time I have learned more about nutrition and how too much exercise is as bad as too little. I realized my low calorie dieting, even of the 40/30/30 kind had screwed up my metabolism and I have to take my time and let it heal.
All the best on your Journey.1 -
To be honest, I think we need to psychologically get this 'diet idea' thing, out of our heads.
It's not a regime; it's not a diet; it may not even really be a weight-loss programme.
What it is, is a better way of life. It's a positive change towards health, well-being and looking after No. 1 to ensure we remain as fit, healthy and 'trouble-free' as possible.
Frankly, since I changed my intake to a LCHF routine, I haven't actually lost that much weight. And its fluctuated, too. But you know what? I don't care. Yes, I could do to lose a few lbs. But I'm not obsessing about it, or too bothered. The main thing is - I feel fabulous. My hair feels better, my skin looks better, my system is more regulated and balanced and there is nothing but personal profit to be had from this, I have realised.
My personal advice would be, quit standing on the scales, only eat when you get hunger pangs and don't stick to a rigid clock routine for meals.
I have also found that occasionally I've mistaken thirst for hunger. So I take a glass of water and ACV, and wait. If the feeling passes, and stays passed, it was thirst, if, after 10 minutes, I still think I could eat something, then I do. But I don't glut, fill my plate, or go overboard. I lovingly prepare a dish for myself with care and attention. The great food I'm about to eat, deserves it. And so do I.
So consider changing your PoV: This isn't something necessarily conceived to create a massive difference to your weight, shape or physical being.
This is something to accompany you joyfully for the remainder of your days. So indulge, and create something special of it.
Because - to unashamedly steal a line - you're worth it.6 -
If your'e patient and plan to do this as a WOE then listen to everyone above. If you're like me and are not patient and are using LCHF as a weight management regime then I would consider a refeed. I tend to use them after 6 weeks when weight loss slows down and have had great results, much better than when I don't and just stay low carb. I'm talking about several times over the past 15 years. For me life is too short to permanently give up some of my favourite foods so the refeed allows me to have some pizza or pasta and as long as I contain it to a 3-4 hour period I dont' even notice any significant side effects like bloat or gas and then in a few days the scale drops once more
Consider it your 90/10. If you eat 90% of the week according to plan and 10% not, you'll be fine(assuming you aren't a sugar addict or the refeed would send you down a slippery slope) and why not have that 10% all in one evening1 -
I agree with making sure you are accurately keeping track of how much you are eating. Maybe even to the point of weighing and measuring to make sure you know what portion sizes are.
Also....if you are using a lot of artificial sweeteners either in beverages or foods that have them included you might consider cutting them out. It has helped some people here to drop that stuff including me.....And mine was what was considered a natural sweetener, but I still think it was having an effect.1
